  • The launch of Gemini 4 - June 3rd 1965 - Onboard are astronauts Jim McDivitt (Command Pilot) and Edward White (Pilot). This is the CBS TV broadcast audio with footage from a Gemini countdown, followed by the Gemini 4 launch footage, followed by the Gemini footage. Again, as with some other videos where there is, at the moment, no (or limited) video footage available, I hope the viewer understands that this is the only way I can think of to display the footage.

I had the pleasure of working on the ICBM version of the Titan II in the USAF.....I'll never forget the first time I saw an actual missile....35 years later I still get goose bumps watching a video like this.....

that rocket could put men into orbit or place a 9000 pound warhead in Russia in 35 minutes. Those are the FACTS. I'm certain you're just being obstinate for show because nobody is that ignorant......I'm sorry but CGI didn't exist in 1965.....

Given that the audio was from CBS-TV, perhaps you could replace the NBC animation of the latter part of the "powered ascent" with a CBS animation you have from a later Gemini launch.
At least it would "look" more authentic.
Thanks for unearthing these rare video and audio tapes of early U.S. space launches.

First United States space walker Ed White on 3 June 1965. Aleksey Leonov was the first human to space walk on 18 March 1965. I remember the school notepad covers sold in stationary stores with drawing of space walk graphic drawing on the covers after the space walk 1966 onwards for a few years. To think I was in primary school grade 2 watching the evening news with footage of these Gemini launches here in Australia mid 1960s. The Titian II's had the highest G forces on the astronauts of any space launch to date a of 7 g's were experienced during launch, getting close to blackout. The number of launches in quick succession made Gemini a lively program to follow.

That's funny . The composite layer effect looks so cheesy now. Bet the grainy picture on the old style tube TVs masked the jittery sideways motion of the ascending " rocket" thanks for posting .
