- The fishermen in a small town in California are highly anticipating the arrival of Canco, a salmon cannery company, because of its promise to bring jobs and prosperity. However, they learn that the cannery has also brought something that puts the whole town in danger. Monstrous creatures from the deep soon emerge and start attacking the townspeople. A fisherman named Jim Hill must team up with Canco's research scientist, Dr. Susan Drake, to fight off the sea monsters and prevent them from multiplying.

From what I heard, they only had three monster suits for the film; so they had to edit the climax in a way to make it look like there was a whole army of them. I’d say it turned out pretty well.
the bright side is, they left behind many satisfied women! LOL
True. In those days you had to be creative, and you could get away with pretty much anything 😅
HA..HA... THEY HAD A SMALL BUDGET !
@@genehunsinger3981 your disgusting, they’re literally getting raped.
Always interesting what can be accomplished with next to no budget. First episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was shot for like 100 bucks.
This movie has THE most sus plot I've ever seen and I don't know how it even got made outside of Japan
The Motion Picture Association film rating system probably was having a heart attack and made them cut a lot of scenes
@@calmgoodfire4662 if they cut anything from that movie, I'm afraid to ask what it was
It's got a real simple answer.... It literally was the beginning of the 80's...
These creature horror gore fests were pretty common back then. Coming out of the horrors of the 70's mixing with 80's camp now mixed in.
Any disturbed young teens angst mixed with bad men in latex costumes.... or bad stop motion once in awhile...
The Nest
The Stuff
The Deadly Spawn
The Brain
Leviathan
Leprechaun
Goolies
From Beyond
Killer Klowns
Phantasm
Re-Animator
Q
All of them unfortunately were getting greenlight ever since the 80's started off by proving really low budget horrors could make a ton of money...
Friday The 13th was really the movie that helped start that.. And then we got a lot of the really good horror franchise like...
The Thing
The Fly
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Poltergeist
An American Werewolf In London
Gremlins
Halloween
Near Dark
The Lost Boys
etc
Sure I forgot a ton, but I think compared to the 90's for instance, the 80's had far more interesting movies overall... but movies like this were terrible when they came out, and are still terrible, but people would often go see them still in a drivein which for a horror is a completely different event, and bad campy moments like this movie has almost made it better when the entire drive is yelling or groaning together at the movie...
@@Arrogan28
All of the movies you posted is what I grew up with as a young child. No regrets. I now devour everything horror related.
Obviously you are not familiar with the 80s, where this type of B horror movie was prominent and popular in the VHS days.
The reason they killed the dogs first is that Dogs alert anyone to Danger.
If ever your dog is purposely killed be prepared for an attack.
I had a cat that would alert me to earthquakes 15 to twenty minutes before they occured.
It also attacked me when wearing only socks.
A hero on times of need and a jerk at times of cold
The whole idea seems to be Lovecraftian. A nod towards the Deep Ones who are fish people and crossbreed with humans. In Lovecraft mythos, dogs are always upset from the creatures and throw up a ruckus. So yes, its a nice reference and a cunning move from the creatures.
You should really stop allowing your cats to put socks on.

the most incredible fact was the native American dude , sole survivor of the beating of the dude, probably in a coma or dead, and the girl who crash in the car under mysterious circumstances; and ALSO had a brawl a few day before with the business man in his party... said "monsters" attacked him and his friends, didn't say anything about the dudes who attack him first and set fire to his home; and the authorities believe him. that plot there was hard to believe...

I agree. I feel like there’s so many scenes in horror films or films in general where a crowd of people will just run at someone/something one at a time in a fight.
Personally I’d like just once to see a movie where monsters or aliens start attacking an American town or city and a bunch of the people (not every single person) start pulling out pistols and start fighting back.

Well, heres a similar scene from "Thirty days of Night" where a pack of vampires attack a medium sized town in uhh... The north pole? Idk i haven't watched it in a while, anyways the vampires start killing people but a few gun owners managed to kill a few vampires before they get overwhelmed
2:49 I was gonna put in a “corporations in a nutshell” joke about how progress in the town does not equal solving the problem of fish disappearing, but I guess unlike some other companies Canco actually did think about that factor.
The rape aspect of this movie is so weird. I wonder what the writers or whoever thought, when they decided "those fishmonsters want to have sex with humans! but only with pretty female ones!". And the birthing scene at the end? No matter how anti-abortion you are, certainly, when the father is a fucking fish monster, abortion is on the table?
Goblins!?
It's weird because I thought I EXACT same thought. Including the abortion thing.
A women should always have the right to choose; but the father of her child should be able to opt for a "financial abortion." If he wants her to abort, but she wants to keep their baby, then he should be able to pay her enough $ for an abortion, plus a few more bucks for her time and effort, but then after that he's completely off the hook, financially and every other way.

I have to wonder why the monsters are all male. You would think that statistically at least *some* female fish would get mutated, too.
Birth?
I actually saw this movie when it first came out in theaters because I'd met one of the NAUI Instructors they hired to film the underwater scenes and to supervise the underwater stunts. It was really hokey back then and it still is. I don't remember there being that many well-known stars in it, though.

One thing is that how was this abomination able to reproduce offspring with a totally different species?
@@SpyAgent1190 it has a human coc
It has a human coc? Okay... you telling me that a fish-based humanoid creature can reproduce with humans because it has human coc?
No they wouldn't as they hate women
@@SpyAgent1190 its been a month but tecnically is like the goblins. in hentai they produce a seed that can impregnate females of all humanoid species biologically it dosnt make sense but if you put a mare and a donkey together they make a mule that is actually sterile (only the male) and thats because they are from the equine family so if that monster have a human coc then maybe its part of the hominid family and I think that maybe makes him capable of a low ratio of impregnation.
PD: if thats the explanation then that means that only the pure blooded monsters could impregnate humans so the nex gen will be sterile and the only way they could survive will be if the nex gen is mostly female and they start raping males. that or the males become the soldiers and start capturing human males for reproduction with the females. that could be giving birth to a matriarcal structure were the females rule and the males follow or a patriarcal structure with the females being only usefull as baby making machines maybe chain in to jails waiting for a human male to be throw in there with them. all the options are prettty bad an that creatures eventually will be extinct because if human males die or they dosnt capture male humans then they die for lack of population.
Afterall, the impregnant thing is totally explainable with that cheap monster costume.
The Scooby-Doo gang would have said they were all men in disguise, and instead of beheading one, they'd have removed the mask.
