    I got my period on May third, 2016. It was always very light and somewhat regular. Then I didn’t get a January or February period. My March period was so painful, and heavy that I changed every 3 hours and couldn’t take ibuprofen cuz I was at school and a band exchange. It eventually went away, but my periods had gotten heavier and crampier that my pre-March periods. In 2019, I had my February period in the second week, and gotten my next period in the first week of April. I’d wake up change level 4 pad, get school change pad, finish Standardized test change pad, have recess change pad, dismissal change pad, leaving for dance change pad, going to bed and changing pad. That’s seven fully soaked Always level 4 pads in one day. Menorragia, I hate you with all of me

    I’m 14 years old and I have had my period for 3 years. My cycle started quite heavy but has gotten heavier and heavier over time, it’s now at the point where I am having to wake up several times during the night to change either a super plus tampon or my level 5 pad. No painkillers have worked for me at all. I am normally screaming and crying on the floor with the amount of pain I’m in! When I have my cycle I can’t go to school or have to go home from school at the beginning of the day because I leak through a super plus tampon or overnight pad in a matter of a class( which in my school is 40 minutes). Like many people in the comments my school has a break every two hours where you go to the restroom or eat or do whatever you need to. Between these breaks you are not allowed into the restroom and they’re locked during this time! I am struggling terribly and my mother has seen the struggle I’m in and is trying to get an appointment with my doctor but I’m wondering if there’s any hope of a menstural cupworking for me ???!!!

    • @TopDoctorsUK
      @TopDoctorsUK  Před 5 lety +3

      Dear Abbie, thank you for your comment and we sympathise with your struggle. It must be very difficult for you, especially if you are not allowed to leave the classroom, however, I suggest you speak with your school about this problem and they should allow you to use the toilet between hours. The menstrual cup could be an option, it can be left in for up to 10-12 hours but should be checked more often in the beginning if you're just starting out. We suggest that you ask your own doctor about this being an option for you and if not we can recommend private specialists who can help: www.topdoctors.co.uk/doctor/obstetrics-gynaecology/london/?child=1.
      Kind regards, TD team.

My mom is like in the 50s and she is done with her period forever. I am the only girl in the family who has my period. I always get annoyed and frustrated with my period every time it gets really heavy. Can you please please help me. I have my period right now and I am neverous to go back to school. Diagnose the reason. That's the main thing i have a pea sizer tumour outside on the posterior wall. That was producing high estrogen and the bleeding was not stopping for 15 days. They gave me birth control which i had 21 days then stopping i got 6 days heavy flow periods. I was altering 6 pads a day and was feeling numb due to such high blood loss again i consulted with the doctor and they told me to start taking birth controls again but i didn't want so changed my food to 6 days vegan diet a week and 1 day white meat like chicken. Never eat dairy or red meat if you have gynae issues. And practiced a yoga, a pranayama " nadi sudhhi pranayama" 3 times it balances hormones and doing these my periods stopped naturally on 7th day miraculously. So sis first don't panic. Anxiety lead to high bp= high pelvic blood flow. Learn to take decisions and there's nothing to worry. Many women even bleed for 6 months. At least you are not. Keep calm♥️ pray to god, do needed step♥️ take love♥️

    why do these things occur in the first place??? Why are hormones being unbalanced in the first place? That is what I want to know. What complex biochemical reactions are taking place to lead to an imbalance. Like is there not enough of a pre-cursor to specific hormone production? Is there a notable gene defect? Or is there an environmental factor leading to the issues? I also like to find the problems first and address them without medication first.

    My periods are so bad i have to wear tampons and pads because a tampon at least can help control where the blood drips onto the pad just my opinion and at the same time change them every hour and still leak onto my clothes. I'm so weak and the cramping pain is so bad it has ruined my personal life and work life for sure. I have to be in bed just to deal with it. I wish there was a solution that didn't involve medicine because I've tried that and it was terrible! A surgery that doesn't require I never be able to have a child in case I wanted to. Why are they so bad for me?! 😢 I bleed so very heavy non stop for three days before it slows to regular flow. I dont even know how I'm alive losing this much blood so rapidly. I've gone to the restroom all day and throughout the night every hour and I'm expected to still go to school and work after this?! Is there a medical card for this?

    Im crying again because as always it came in the wrong time, and i dont know if i should count today as the second or Fourth day because it was extra light on the first two days, almost non-existent, but it hit me like a bus yesterday as it was the first day, four damn tampons a day and all of them leaked, its awful and of course i have a lot of stuff i need to get done with, god help me deal with that

    When my pcos was uncontrolled i would go months with no period. When it finally came it really came! It was so heavy that for the first 3 days i could not leave the house for more than an hour at a time. It was like all those months i missed came out at once. Just horrible and scary

      Dear Kanika, If your period has lasted for a whole month, please see a doctor or gynaecologist. They will be able to provide an accurate diagnosis and give appropriate treatment. Best wishes

    Bled trough my sheets twice in a row bc 3 layers of nightpads won’t work!!! Soon my 4th day, I’m just gonna do an all nighter sitting at the toilet😞

    What do i do if my period is sooooo heavy that i have to used some of the biggest overnight pads just to go about my day. And even with those heavy pads, i still leak through because I already soaked the whole pad within 2 hours. My cramps are also really painful, it stops me from getting out of bed even though i have to, so i can change my pad. And when i do have to move i limp and sometimes i get light headed and almost fall over. I'm only 14 and I really think that this is a problem and that i need to go the the doctors, but i dont like to tell my parents anything about me (cause their pretty rude to me). So now i dont have any way to actually go to the doctor. I've tried over the counter medications and heating pads and what not, but they dont do anything. If you have any advice to help me with my period please tell me 🙏🙏

      I believe it’s somewhat normal to have really heavy periods in the first year or two. When I had my first official one (longer than 3 days) I changed a pad literally every hour and I was only 12. For me, it got less and less heavy over the years but I experienced even more painful cramps. Good luck, I hope it lightens for you soon!

      I'm so sorry to hear that! That sounds absolutely awful! I'm currently working with a client who has heavy bleeding for more than 2 weeks, and diet and her nutritional intake definitely play a role in this. I'm wondering if you might be interested in following along in a video series I'm making about our monthly hormonal rhythm. I'm also sharing a few ways we can nutritionally support ourselves to bring our bodies and cycles back into rhythm. 😊 I'm starting with the menstrual cycle and talk about how seed cycling can help with hormonal balance to reduce symptoms later on in our cycle: czcams.com/video/M_SGc-RDSlQ/video.html
