  • TRU PRO has a great reputation and I can see why. This is one of the best high performance polyester strings money can buy. When you consider it’s just $9 it’s a great bargain as well. Black Knight was the first Tier One string I tried and within about 10 minutes of hitting I was a believer. This string is designed for the high performance player so if you don’t take massive swings at the ball you’ll be left wanting for more power. However if you’re a fan of strings like Genesis Black Magic, Luxilon Alu Power, or Babolat RPM Blast this is a must try string.

If you had a choice between this and Alu Power 16l to use in tournament play which would you choose? And can you compare the two in terms of spin potential, power and tension stability?

Just got an email for this string for $90, so I bought a reel. I'm using Pro Hurricane tour right now, but this will probably transition nicely.

Hi Brian, ypu tried tue firewire from Tier One. What is different in Kind of crisp, Pop, spin, .....to tue black knight? Thx a lot for answering me

Michel, firewire you will get much better power and feel compared to the Black Knight. However when it comes to control and durability Black Knight is superior to the Firewire in these categories. Spin potential I would say is similar but Firewire is a little better. I would say if you are looking for a more control oriented string go with Black Knight. If you are looking for a little more power and more comfort go with Firewire.

Hi Brian, how were the Fire Wire strings?

Firewire is great. The "spin potential" is really top notch of strings that I have tried. I prefer it to RPM Rough and other textured polys.

how does this compare to the Hyper G?

My two cents. Hyper G is better in: Spin Potential and Feel/Comfort. Black Knight is better in: Tension Maintenance and Control. They are very similar in other key areas like power and durability. The Black Knight is a fantastic string and I would recommend it to any advanced or high performance players. You can't beat the price for this high quality of a string. Hyper G I feel any level player could play with it. If price was no object I would pick Hyper G because it feels noticeably better.
