    DJ Barr, What do you think for someone who has no uplights or DMX equipment? Is this a better start? I was thinking a set of maxis and a set of the cans. I think that the price of the Ape Labs lights are offset by adding the price for all of the cables and other DMX equipment that I would have to buy.... Also, thanks for the videos, They're great.

    These are my favorite up lights. I wish they were hex as well but oh well. RGBA works well if you can color mix through dmx. UV is good for getting colors like Hot Pink and Electric Blue. I actually prefer the cans and the ape wall art fixtures. They make some very kool patters. KPODJ has a Wall Art light package that's killer. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work.

    This light has so much going for it but, its biggest downfall is that it’s not hex. I work for a multi Opp and my bosses wouldn’t take a second look at these because it’s not hex. You need amber that’s the new hot color at weddings and sweet sixteens are all about UV.

  • @joeyh3462
    @joeyh3462 Před 6 lety +6

    Regular stage Lighting is already expensive enough. If the retail price for wireless battery powered lighting stays at $400 + ( $600 canadian) for just 1 uplight then wired dmx lighting applications arent going anywhere. Don't get me wrong id love some wireless lights but I can't justify spending that much on a light.

    • @jooelewis
      @jooelewis Před 6 lety +1

      The internals are not cheap yet, and since the market is so niche there is no chance of these going down for any company that produces uplighting.

    These I just found not too long ago. Somewhat pricey but my guess is they will last and it looks to be a solid design by the Germans. My favorite is the Light Can! They should send you some of those to test out. They have a filter that directs the light and gives you a cool effect.

    It cost extra to get DMX?

  • @jooelewis
    @jooelewis Před 6 lety

    Freedom Pars have 4x10 LEDs while these have 3x15. Take that for whatever it's worth. They are half the Weight of the Freedom Par Quad 4's.... So take that for what it's worth...
    Generally speaking, these pars are fine. Most of the mobile guys that your channel draws don't really use DMX lighting for their pars in the first place and just use them for the white facades and stuff. The run the same risks of theft that most other lights draw, these are smaller so theres that. I think they are fine. Not the best, but everything in the wireless uplight market is just not that good IMO, so it honestly does not matter what brand you get. If you like it, get it. Just understand that you can probably fine some cans that do exactly what you want it to do for cheaper.
    Also, UV is a cute little draw that no one honestly uses to its full potential already. Its great for getting certain loud colors, but even then not a lot of clients are going to asking for the colors that you can get with a UV+R/G/B or W so its just not worth it honestly.

    GREAT VIDEO BUDDY! Those are great lights but at $350 price point with NO HEX LEDs, it can not compete with Chauvet DJ's Freedom Par ($380) or ADJ's new Element ($340) -Those are both Hex LED, Wireless DMX, and battery powered. Its NO for me!

    • @oblevins
      @oblevins Před 6 lety +3

      more output than the Elements - much smaller and lighter as well... Also the remote is what makes it... Each of the 4 UV LED's in the ADJ Element HEX is 1.67 watts. That's the disadvantage of having more LED's in an uplight. Less light per LED...

    • @jooelewis
      @jooelewis Před 6 lety +3

      Freedom Pars have weaker batteries and also have very weak internals so not only are they fragile, but they are also hard to repair on your own. Freedom Pars are also not water resistant unless you buy the new Quad 4, which you'll be paying over 400 dollars per liight. So the same set of 8 will hit you at 400 dollars cheaper, which is a lot.
      If you are in the need of DMX connectivity for your pars then there are better lights than the Quad 4. If you find out that the Quad 4 is good for you, thats fine but just be prepared for what I mentioned above and you'll probably need to replace something 1-2 years down the line.
      This line of uplights is perfect for MOST Mobile DJs and Smaller venues looking for simple lighting with a punch.

      TheDj8X yea they can but if someone doesn’t already have the old tech then they should get the good Hex and wireless. I wouldn’t waste my money on RGB and wired it’s too limited.

    Shit this video is from 2017 and I'm just seeing it now. Per your question re: RGB only? Nope, you'll at least need the white chip to do better color mixing. Example, you cant make a pink out of only RGB. You need that white to set it right. Also with the white chip, it is easier to achieve the warm white Halogen color (3000k to 4000k) on your RGBW can. Just my input. Great channel by the way.

    No not confused , really do not get confused I am always a sure of my self . Let me ask you this did you buy them or were they given to you or given to you for testing . I am also a Auto mechanic by day so I know what’s in the lights and it’s not 2k worth of product , trust me ! I also build racing drones and have many drones . You can say jack of all trades . But serious I’m not trying to give you a hard way just saying not me for 2500 . Just too too much money for what they are ! But they are nice I will give them that and I like products from that country . Hey while we are chatting I do give your channel props , good work do not know how you do it . It takes time people really do not know that . I’m 52 and will be DJing till I die , I just love people and music when the two are put together people loosing up and have a great time . That is why I put 6 k into my sound alone and that is only 2 players and a mixer not including speakers subs . Thanks keep up the good work I watch all the time . Your a good guy !

    2499.00 for 6 lights and a case, wow yea nice lights but who has 2500 to spend on 6 lights. When you can get just as good from American DJ or one of the others for a fraction of the price. But do agree, nice lights. I thought 6 K for my Denon system was a lot but half that for Par Cans, be more than happy if they want to send me a pack too ...ROLMAO ! I will stick to American DJ and Chauvet Lighting. Happy Holidays to all.

      How much do you think a 6 pack of Chauvet/ADJ cost in a case?

    • @jameshill3425
      @jameshill3425 Před 6 lety

      Not 2500 dollars , look I been djing for 20 years so I think I know something . Like I said yes there nice but not 2k for a light . Now 2k to what ever you spend on sound is worth it , it what makes the gig , lighting is just an add on people really could not give a crap about lighting as long as the music and dj is rocking that’s the party . Not up for discussion these lights any longer . I gave my option and for what it’s worth of a 20 year dj well take what you may out of it . If you have or the company is willing to give you these light he’ll yea take them ! Again have a good holiday and weekend ! I also have my own company and sub from 10 other company’s .

    • @BayardoRugama
      @BayardoRugama  Před 6 lety +2

      I agreed with your on lighting but, I think you might be confusing lighting fixtures. Which lights in particular are you comparing them too? I have ADJ Elements as well and they run $330 each as well so a six pack will also bring it up to $2K plus a case. They are priced the same.

    Way to expensive !! Specially for the use of the light. Not enough ways to use it other than to light up a truss lol You can't used them with a DMX controller software. Now on days a show is what we all are setting up at our gigs. Great videos bro.. Saludos desde la ciudad de Chicago.

    • @oblevins
      @oblevins Před 6 lety +2

      Hey Jorge, How you doing? The DMX controller is $300 and a 6 pack with the case is $2,500. All name brand lights in this category are about the same price... none of them are inexpensive and one needs to be able to have the ability to upsell them at their gigs IMO. Peace my friend...

    • @jooelewis
      @jooelewis Před 6 lety +1

      There pretty much even with "name brand" uplights though. You're paying for a name at that point, which is fine. Just understand the drawbacks the light has before you go out and buy them, even if its name brand. APE lights are fine. Most of the ebay company lights are fine as well. I'm picky with Chauvet because their cans are actually overpriced and much harder to repair than other mobile uplights not to mention their battery is incredibly poor.

    • @BayardoRugama
      @BayardoRugama  Před 6 lety +4

      The way DMX works is DEAD as in Cables. Lighting control will never die, but old fashion DMX will. Newer lights will soon be all Wirelessly operated.

    • @BayardoRugama
      @BayardoRugama  Před 6 lety

      DjayingAsAKid yes, that’s what I meant. Wireless DMX is the future. Traditional DMX with daisy chaining lights is dead (in my opinion) the future is an all wireless system. (Sorry if I didn’t clarify, I didn’t articulate my point well.)

  • @vibedancelightingsound5412

    No Hex, No DMX??? I don't like that, if they really want to compete with ADJ or Chauvet they need HEX.

    • @jooelewis
      @jooelewis Před 6 lety +1

      Chauvet Pars are great but they have a long history of failing about 1-2 years or usage, for heavy users it even sooner. The newer pars fix those but if you're talking about the Freedom Pars, that is an awful line with very flimsy internets and batteries that degrade faster than any other wireless par on the market right now. Also if you want a case that is not awful you either have to build it yourself, or drop insane amount of money on flight cases. People who need lights like these are already members of a niche market. You won't be spending any less than 2.5 or so for uplights that are wireless in normal sets.

    • @kpodj
      @kpodj Před 6 lety +4

      Hi Fernando. If you're looking at the Chauvet Freedom Par Quad's (20 Watts), we can get you much lower pricing than $300 each. If you're looking at the Freedom Par Hex's (40 Watts, 6.67 Watts per color), we would be happy to offer those to you below the $300 price you're paying now.
      If you are interested in the Maxi's (45 Watts, 11.25 Watts per color), they MAP at $359, but the Freedom Hex MAP's at $399 and we're happy to sell those below $300....so give us a call on pricing for the Maxi's!
      For less money than the Freedom Par Hex's, the Maxi will give you a 50% longer warranty, almost double the output (when doing single, double, triple, or quadruple mixed colors), half the weight, all of the smart remote features and grouping, water resistance, a longer battery life (about 15hrs), a longer DMX range (about 3,000ft), and much more.
      But, if you already have Freedom's and want to stick with them, we're happy to sell you those. We have plenty in stock!
