ABOUT ME: I was born March 06, 1992 in Nicaragua. I currently live in New Jersey, USA. I am an open-format Club and Mobile DJ. I enjoy making and sharing VLOGs about my life as a pro DJ and my travels around the world. I hope you find my videos entertaining. If you have any questions feel free to ask. - Zábava
Glad you are mixing it up and not just featuring ADJ products.
Ahh .... I remember when you weren't even into lights. You are all growned up!!! Great vids bro! way to keep it Jersey!!!
John Mitchell I’d be into lights too if companies just sent stuff all the time.
Don't hate, he is better than you I guess!!!
Man brother I love these lights. I wish I had the funds to support the need!! Everyone should consider these light overall others. The best investment you will ever make.
Lionel Rodriguez these lights are awesome.
Nice!
I like the design and how small they are.. Barr I been buying new equipment because of your videos !! I am going to be broke soon Because of you!!
Keep it up!
Well done, really enjoy your reviews and demos.
DJ Barr, What do you think for someone who has no uplights or DMX equipment? Is this a better start? I was thinking a set of maxis and a set of the cans. I think that the price of the Ape Labs lights are offset by adding the price for all of the cables and other DMX equipment that I would have to buy.... Also, thanks for the videos, They're great.
fabulous review Barr great job
Great video! Glad you like them! I was planning to make a video about them but you already beat me to it! lol
Looks awesome what would u recommend to a dj starting of what controller?
That's a really helpful video, I love those lights. But I have a quick question. What is the difference between the serato and virtual dj, and Which one you recommend more
These are awesome I'm glad I turned on notifications
Cade Brown thank you!
Great review thank u
I have 2 cases of the Maxi. They are great. I've used them to light up a tent(s), even an area without much of a wall. They performed flawlessly. Hope to get 2 more cases once I canafford them!
Awesome video!!!!
Seen them at musikmesse in Frankfurt, love their products.. the company I work for has 48 of these lights and we also have the ape light cans. We use them with the remote and with dmx
I have 2 cases as well as a case of the light cans and the DMX transceiver. The price is actually cheaper than the chauvet and adj alternatives!
I'm from Germany too :D
question i know it comes with 6 how about if i wanted more then 6 how will that work will it still work with the samn remote and do i need to buy different charging port
🏆 dopest intro
Hey guys when I say DMX is dead I mean daisy chaining cables, not Lighting control. 🙄 Lighting control will always be needed. Wireless DMX is the future. (Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough)
nice dj barr best dj barr
Dj king jeff thanks man
We use the Donner wireless system, love it, works great.
Hey DJ Barr, where did you get your DJ desk from?
Ok Barr you sold me on the Airstream. I'm going to buy it right now. Can you do a video on how to use the ADJ Airstream with Chauvet Intimidators? I seen your video with the Par light. I have the Intimidator Spot 355 like my man Bleny D!
Also what about the small ones they have called the cans? Are they better? They are cheaper
This might just be my favorite review yet. Question? In your honest opinion is the pack worth the cost? It seems steep but I can definitely see the ease of functionality as well. Thanks for sharing. One love man.
I love them!
DJ Brando Productions me too.
Good video bro!
These are my favorite up lights. I wish they were hex as well but oh well. RGBA works well if you can color mix through dmx. UV is good for getting colors like Hot Pink and Electric Blue. I actually prefer the cans and the ape wall art fixtures. They make some very kool patters. KPODJ has a Wall Art light package that's killer. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work.
nice one man
muito bom meu amigo sou seu fã
I love your vid do they come with a tripod
Nice product review, in Europe they cost €. 1699,00 (set price).
With out a doubt a very good investment for a mobile DJ, the ease of use and quality is ideal for lighting up your show, objects or walls.
Thinking about buying a set.
I am in Ohio Sir, how can I get one like that please, I have to coming up Dj Gig next month 1 Dec 1 the other Dec 24, please reply me where can I get one set, what will be the prices take care .
How do you set all the lights to 1 certain color?
Bar cantar viene en la caja??
I have seperate UV Pars for the UV glowingness needed for my mega glow gigs! Peace Out Barr!
Ok AWSOME lights but the price is completely INSANE !! i guess the only APE technology i can get close to is an Ape with a smartphone at the zoo but they are great . also i havent seen Linda in a while....is she OK ? Take care.
Have you used these lights at a gig?
Nice video DJ Barr too expensive for me but it's nice to checkout some different lights. Chinese products for now, later on Chavuet DJ or ADJ.
I would love to get the tour pack or even one but it's just to pricey! Once they come down in price I will consider buying them.
Hey Guy! Nice Review! Iam watching from germany. Nice2c what U think about german quality! :-)
Iam using the smaller ApeLabs Light Can. And I am totally in Love with them for small events like weddings & private Events in nice locations.
Maybe I will buy the ApeLight Maxi as well...
hey im interested about Ape Light Can but im afraid about power ...only 15 watts its ok for wall lighting in a wedding or not enough ? thanks for you
return
Hey Barr, recently checked KpoDJ website... Apelabs no longer found?? Any insider info? Thanks. Great vids!

What Havana remix is that??
Greetings from Höchberg in Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪 - Ape Labs GmbH are based in Eisingen - it is a small village 4km next to me ☺️ they have a beautiful HQ there 😍
tittle of the intro song????
Which would you go with..... these or ADJ hex elements?
Just go with whatever fits your situation best. There is no wrong or right answer. Both have their pros, and cons.
Amazing video, do you have a link to these lights please

Están chidas me voy a comprar un set
Sonido Carnaval no estarás hablando en serio. No todo lo que veas aquí lo compres amigo estás mal
Those lights are lit. I want a set of ten. They are too stronk. Edit: Wait.... Are we in an ad right now? This feels like an ad.
+VJ Joe Lewis 😪
This light has so much going for it but, its biggest downfall is that it’s not hex. I work for a multi Opp and my bosses wouldn’t take a second look at these because it’s not hex. You need amber that’s the new hot color at weddings and sweet sixteens are all about UV.
Regular stage Lighting is already expensive enough. If the retail price for wireless battery powered lighting stays at $400 + ( $600 canadian) for just 1 uplight then wired dmx lighting applications arent going anywhere. Don't get me wrong id love some wireless lights but I can't justify spending that much on a light.
The internals are not cheap yet, and since the market is so niche there is no chance of these going down for any company that produces uplighting.
October Fest is in September?
DJ Stylez NYC yes! 😅
Are you still using The Ape Lights ?
Do you prefer Maxi or Cans.
I noticed you use a mix.
I'm buying next week.
Definitely the Maxi! The cans are a little difficult to use, imo.
If you do purchase the maxis consider using my link
www.apelabsusa.com/product/maxi#30984b81de
@@BayardoRugama Awesome, thanks for the info !!!
Nice product.. great review, but the price needs to drop a lot to compete.. dmx isn't dead. Im using art-net which gives unlimited universe use. But i guess djs won't need more than 512 addresses
djrickysmith Yes, I have been loving them. When I say DMX is dead; I mean traditional DMX as in daisiy chaining lights together with cables. Lighting control will always be needed. Wireless DMX is the future. (I should’ve been more clear with that.)
36#’s wow. I’d be afraid to weigh my uplighting box. Just 4 in a bag is probably close to 36. Jesh.
Do a video on Sound Switch!
Don't need to. Cause it sucks lol
These I just found not too long ago. Somewhat pricey but my guess is they will last and it looks to be a solid design by the Germans. My favorite is the Light Can! They should send you some of those to test out. They have a filter that directs the light and gives you a cool effect.
rlg222 yes I saw the light can it’s a pretty cool product. Reminds me of a Red Bull can. 😅
I know you love that Red Bull! Ha! There is also another company called "Cameo"
Hex is best for colours. Quad is best for brightness.
It cost extra to get DMX?
DJ Mikey C you have to get a DMX router yes.
Freedom Pars have 4x10 LEDs while these have 3x15. Take that for whatever it's worth. They are half the Weight of the Freedom Par Quad 4's.... So take that for what it's worth...
Generally speaking, these pars are fine. Most of the mobile guys that your channel draws don't really use DMX lighting for their pars in the first place and just use them for the white facades and stuff. The run the same risks of theft that most other lights draw, these are smaller so theres that. I think they are fine. Not the best, but everything in the wireless uplight market is just not that good IMO, so it honestly does not matter what brand you get. If you like it, get it. Just understand that you can probably fine some cans that do exactly what you want it to do for cheaper.
Also, UV is a cute little draw that no one honestly uses to its full potential already. Its great for getting certain loud colors, but even then not a lot of clients are going to asking for the colors that you can get with a UV+R/G/B or W so its just not worth it honestly.
FIRST COMMENT!
thx 4 highlighting! :0 :)
i can't afford this light....
Is The Crazy Price Brother
WANT
I thought it was a fidget spinner at first. Who also thought it was a fidget spinner
when you wish you actually had money to buy lights
DJ VENDETTA 😅
You can do a play as you pay and work the cost into your bookings. That's how I did it. Idjnow has AFIRM.
They are cool and everything but too damn pricey!
GREAT VIDEO BUDDY! Those are great lights but at $350 price point with NO HEX LEDs, it can not compete with Chauvet DJ's Freedom Par ($380) or ADJ's new Element ($340) -Those are both Hex LED, Wireless DMX, and battery powered. Its NO for me!
more output than the Elements - much smaller and lighter as well... Also the remote is what makes it... Each of the 4 UV LED's in the ADJ Element HEX is 1.67 watts. That's the disadvantage of having more LED's in an uplight. Less light per LED...
Freedom Pars have weaker batteries and also have very weak internals so not only are they fragile, but they are also hard to repair on your own. Freedom Pars are also not water resistant unless you buy the new Quad 4, which you'll be paying over 400 dollars per liight. So the same set of 8 will hit you at 400 dollars cheaper, which is a lot.
If you are in the need of DMX connectivity for your pars then there are better lights than the Quad 4. If you find out that the Quad 4 is good for you, thats fine but just be prepared for what I mentioned above and you'll probably need to replace something 1-2 years down the line.
This line of uplights is perfect for MOST Mobile DJs and Smaller venues looking for simple lighting with a punch.
There is a CZcams channel LearnLizard for Learn DMX
Whew!!! Way too much lol. I’m out hahaha
If someone is telling you all you need is RGB then they’re either beginner or insane. Hex is the only way to go imo. You get what I call true white, true amber, and true UV. Better for color mixing.
neolightproductions tell that to the guys making a killing using rgb
TheDj8X yea they can but if someone doesn’t already have the old tech then they should get the good Hex and wireless. I wouldn’t waste my money on RGB and wired it’s too limited.
It's RGBW...
Shit this video is from 2017 and I'm just seeing it now. Per your question re: RGB only? Nope, you'll at least need the white chip to do better color mixing. Example, you cant make a pink out of only RGB. You need that white to set it right. Also with the white chip, it is easier to achieve the warm white Halogen color (3000k to 4000k) on your RGBW can. Just my input. Great channel by the way.
It's RGBW too
No not confused , really do not get confused I am always a sure of my self . Let me ask you this did you buy them or were they given to you or given to you for testing . I am also a Auto mechanic by day so I know what’s in the lights and it’s not 2k worth of product , trust me ! I also build racing drones and have many drones . You can say jack of all trades . But serious I’m not trying to give you a hard way just saying not me for 2500 . Just too too much money for what they are ! But they are nice I will give them that and I like products from that country . Hey while we are chatting I do give your channel props , good work do not know how you do it . It takes time people really do not know that . I’m 52 and will be DJing till I die , I just love people and music when the two are put together people loosing up and have a great time . That is why I put 6 k into my sound alone and that is only 2 players and a mixer not including speakers subs . Thanks keep up the good work I watch all the time . Your a good guy !
Can't see spending that much for basically uplights
Germans make everything better.
2499.00 for 6 lights and a case, wow yea nice lights but who has 2500 to spend on 6 lights. When you can get just as good from American DJ or one of the others for a fraction of the price. But do agree, nice lights. I thought 6 K for my Denon system was a lot but half that for Par Cans, be more than happy if they want to send me a pack too ...ROLMAO ! I will stick to American DJ and Chauvet Lighting. Happy Holidays to all.
How much do you think a 6 pack of Chauvet/ADJ cost in a case?
Not 2500 dollars , look I been djing for 20 years so I think I know something . Like I said yes there nice but not 2k for a light . Now 2k to what ever you spend on sound is worth it , it what makes the gig , lighting is just an add on people really could not give a crap about lighting as long as the music and dj is rocking that’s the party . Not up for discussion these lights any longer . I gave my option and for what it’s worth of a 20 year dj well take what you may out of it . If you have or the company is willing to give you these light he’ll yea take them ! Again have a good holiday and weekend ! I also have my own company and sub from 10 other company’s .
I agreed with your on lighting but, I think you might be confusing lighting fixtures. Which lights in particular are you comparing them too? I have ADJ Elements as well and they run $330 each as well so a six pack will also bring it up to $2K plus a case. They are priced the same.
In spanis plis
No barr not the REDBULL
Jrfireman _2 ☹️
Habla en españor porfabor
Way to expensive !! Specially for the use of the light. Not enough ways to use it other than to light up a truss lol You can't used them with a DMX controller software. Now on days a show is what we all are setting up at our gigs. Great videos bro.. Saludos desde la ciudad de Chicago.
Jorge, they are wireless DMX and can be used with DMX software as well.
Hello owen. I saw that but how much does that box cost ? That is an additional price on top of the almost 3K
Hey Jorge, How you doing? The DMX controller is $300 and a 6 pack with the case is $2,500. All name brand lights in this category are about the same price... none of them are inexpensive and one needs to be able to have the ability to upsell them at their gigs IMO. Peace my friend...
Way too much for 6 lights and a controller lol That is not even a name brand. Good Luck
There pretty much even with "name brand" uplights though. You're paying for a name at that point, which is fine. Just understand the drawbacks the light has before you go out and buy them, even if its name brand. APE lights are fine. Most of the ebay company lights are fine as well. I'm picky with Chauvet because their cans are actually overpriced and much harder to repair than other mobile uplights not to mention their battery is incredibly poor.
I Don't Think DMX Is Dead, Look At Big Festival Setups
The way DMX works is DEAD as in Cables. Lighting control will never die, but old fashion DMX will. Newer lights will soon be all Wirelessly operated.
Bayardo A Rugama Yes, wireless dmx.
Bayardo A Rugama DMX is not the cables it’s the name of the network that the fixtures will connect to.
DjayingAsAKid yes, that’s what I meant. Wireless DMX is the future. Traditional DMX with daisy chaining lights is dead (in my opinion) the future is an all wireless system. (Sorry if I didn’t clarify, I didn’t articulate my point well.)
Good luck communicating wireless 400 fixtures that requires 5 to 70 channels each for example.
No Hex, No DMX??? I don't like that, if they really want to compete with ADJ or Chauvet they need HEX.
Why didn't you just turn the faucet on instead of dumping a $3 Red Bull on it? LOL
because science.
gph.is/1AcACb3
Your best product review yet, btw. It helps that it's an awesome product too!
You shouldn’t drink more Red Bull that’s not fair for a real DJ and you know it
3k $ for 6 lights? NAAHHH
MAP is $2500 with case... same price and all the other name brands...
Still over price man.. i can get 6 chauvet pars more powerfull than this ones for 1,800.
Chauvet Pars are great but they have a long history of failing about 1-2 years or usage, for heavy users it even sooner. The newer pars fix those but if you're talking about the Freedom Pars, that is an awful line with very flimsy internets and batteries that degrade faster than any other wireless par on the market right now. Also if you want a case that is not awful you either have to build it yourself, or drop insane amount of money on flight cases. People who need lights like these are already members of a niche market. You won't be spending any less than 2.5 or so for uplights that are wireless in normal sets.
Hi Fernando. If you're looking at the Chauvet Freedom Par Quad's (20 Watts), we can get you much lower pricing than $300 each. If you're looking at the Freedom Par Hex's (40 Watts, 6.67 Watts per color), we would be happy to offer those to you below the $300 price you're paying now.
If you are interested in the Maxi's (45 Watts, 11.25 Watts per color), they MAP at $359, but the Freedom Hex MAP's at $399 and we're happy to sell those below $300....so give us a call on pricing for the Maxi's!
For less money than the Freedom Par Hex's, the Maxi will give you a 50% longer warranty, almost double the output (when doing single, double, triple, or quadruple mixed colors), half the weight, all of the smart remote features and grouping, water resistance, a longer battery life (about 15hrs), a longer DMX range (about 3,000ft), and much more.
But, if you already have Freedom's and want to stick with them, we're happy to sell you those. We have plenty in stock!
Way too expensive for me.
Is this DJ Barr? or Ron Popeil? Ha
4 10 350 pounds? yea right lool
