    I've been listening for hours and hours. I just really like these sermons. My other favorite Bible teacher online is Dan Corner. Wouldn't it be great to have both of you hash out some Bible controversy or subject together?

    I love where you said that Jesus's responses to people were law to the proud and grace to the humble. I know the Scripture says he gives grace to the humble, but I've never read the Gospels with that perspective in mind. Since I'm currently reading Matthew, I will keep an eye out for that.

    of course a lot of the NT encourages us not to sin, theres no problem understanding what sin is, and that we're not to sin, the problem is our inability not to sin. Paul says we're slaves to sin, he says it dominates life. telling someone not to sin and knowing theyre slaves to sin, is like throwing someone in water and telling them not to get wet.

      James JAH Avey Nobody but GOD knows who is going to heaven.
      Not All "Christians"are going..many Christians are in a delusion. Their are many false prophets ,preachers,teachers leading the sheep astray.
      Because one says the sinners prayer doesn't mean your going to heaven.you heart,mind must be transformed by the HOLY Spirit and live only for JESUS.
      GOD BLESS.

    Whatever happened to Galatians 5:24 in this whole struggle to abstain from the flesh? If it’s crucified isn’t it crucified? Dead means dead. So evil desires must come from something other than a “flesh” we couldn’t control. If we are so depraved and desperately wicked, what did God exactly do when we were regenerated? These Calvary pastors put too much emphasis on seeing yourself like this...

    • @kevinschaefer3945
      @kevinschaefer3945 Před 3 lety

      Mitchell Kim: If you look at the context you will see that the desire of the flesh still remains. How else can it be in opposition to the Spirit? (v. 16 & 17). Maybe you should read v. 26 as well.

    • @mitchelltaekim
      @mitchelltaekim Před 3 lety +1

      @@kevinschaefer3945 I've heard other perspectives and teachings that the new man (new creation) is not evil but evil desires come from wrong beliefs about God and ourselves. That our unbelief or ignorance of what is true is what gives the enemy access points in our lives. Although we have become the righteousness of God and we have authority, wherever there is darkness (like in our thought life), the enemy has authority over that area.
      An example would be bitterness. If you agree with it and remain in it, you open yourself up to sins of anger, jealousy, fits of rage, etc and in some cases even physical sickness. Works of the flesh.
      Another way to look at it, is that if you believe you're a dirty rotten sinner then you will behave like one. If there is one thing I've learned, behavior modification never changed anyone really but getting to the root of the issue by simply demolishing lies. Galatians 5:24 says our flesh WITH it's passions and desires HAVE been (past tense) crucified.
      Then again, 1 Peter 2:11 urges us to abstain from the passions of the flesh which seems to convey an ongoing warfare. It almost sounds conflicting, we are free but we are not completely free.
      Point being, there is much confusion in the Church about this topic.

    • @kevinschaefer3945
      @kevinschaefer3945 Před 2 lety +2

      @@mitchelltaekim "Have been" is not the past tense, it is the present perfect (either present form of "have" + the past participle) which indicates an action that was begun and POSSIBLY completed in the past, but can also continue into the present or future. The (perfect) past tense would be "had been" (past form of "have" + the past participle), indicating an action was definitely completed in the past. As I explain it to my ESL students, the present perfect (have/has) leaves a door open to the present and future, while the past perfect (had) has no such door and must remain in the past.
      BTW, it seems you've been reading Neil Anderson's works. I agree with him that scripture strongly indicates that we do not have two natures, but a new nature within a perishable, sinful container (earthly tent), as it were. However, as new creatures, priests, a holy nation, seated with Christ in the heavenly places, etc., we still have the responsibility to control the sinful propensities of this temporary container.

    at 17:22 you seem to make it ridiculous when people on purpose have theirselves beaten etc (phillipines) but Paul says this :
    ;+ 27 but I pummel my body+ and lead it as a slave, that, after I have preached to others, I myself should not become disapproved+ somehow.
    you make it sound as a joke mike if people really do their utmost .
    you compare it with pilarsaints
    and make christians who do in fact slave for christ make ridiculous.
    God wants us to also take our own load and do what Jesus says:
    34 He now called the crowd to him with his disciples and said to them: “If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself and pick up his torture stake* and follow me continually.+ 35 For whoever wants to save his soul* will lose it; but whoever loses his soul for the sake of me and the good news will save it.+

    Mike repent :at20;37 you talk about abstaining.
    what about acts 15:20
    abstain from:
    20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
    dont you follow gen 9:consuming blood as well as killing a person are mentioned:
    3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
    4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
    5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
    6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
    likewise it is said in levicitus 18
    10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
    11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
    12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.
    13 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
    14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
    15 And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.
    16 But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.
