- Todays video is about the Vilrox 13mm f/1.4 for Fuji APS-C Cameras. I have used this lens for about 4 months now for all things from "Studio"-Type Video work to Vlogging.
Overall, its a beast of a lens and almost makes going full frame obsolete. Let me know what you think :)

I bought this lens to replace the 10-24mm I sold. Agree with your assessment, and I am using it for my CZcams videos in the studio. This was my first Viltrox lens, and I must say I am impressed with it.
Very good video man
Good review 😊
I use it now for a month and at the beginning I had my doubts, but the wide angle, background separation and low light capabilities are such a win! For vlogging and landscapes it’s amazing. Therefore I can accept the size, weight and also some wobbeling corners.
Use it also with a K&F 1/8 diffusion, makes it look better for video imo. Great lens with some acceptable disadvantages. As you said: you cannot have it all!
Thanks for this
can i get a link to a nd filter for this?????
I would highly recommend you get an ND or VND so you can keep your SS down for video and cut out the choppy feeling. This would make any shakes and wobbles a lot more forgivable and in general will help you have a more cinematic image.
@9:25 did you say 30mm? If so, that’s definitely not true. Where do you get that from?
I have noticed that pro mist filters negatively affect autofocus performance on my x-T3 and H-h2.
Have you heard about the wobbling issue with newer bodies? I was really disappointed with X-T4 IBIS on.
Try the new Xh2s...it's much better than the XT4 for video. AF and IBIS is improved a lot.
I am using XT5 with the Vitrox13mm F1.4. 1 of the best set ups in my experience...
Which are you picking between 13mm viltrox or 16mm 1.4 for autofocus?
I have both and it's no contest. The 16mm is one of the earliest x mount lenses and has a far slower motor than the more recent ones. The Viltrox compares favorably against all but the very latest LM lenses such as the new 18/23/33 f/1.4 options. The 85mm is similarly top notch in both image quality and AF performance.
@@ReflexVE I went with the Fuji 18mm 1.4 😅
@@Fujiboy.mp4 Awesome lens! I'm totally jealous. The 18 and the 33 are on my buy list, but I need to sell off my 16 and 35 first.
The Sigma 16mm/f1.4 has almost exactly the same dimensions, so it is not that bad. I was about to buy the Sigma when discovered this new 13mm Viltrox and it seems to be pretty impressive (which the 56mm I tested 2 years ago definitely was not) according to all the reviews I've seen so far.
Yeah, the 13 is the best from Viltrox for APS-C so far. The 85 is the close second. The trio 23, 33, and 56 are meh, but they're affordable and f/1.4, so at least it still has some merits.
The 56 with updated firmware is night and day different to a year ago 👍 cheers
@@JasonLawrenceNoel The optical perfomance can't be updated tho
@@paceyombex very true 👍 … never tried for video personally but like what I get for local street photography 🤙
when i think of 1.2 - 1.8 f stops, i think of tighter ranges.
Surely a nice wideangle lens, ím more interested in the 33mm f/1.4 though..... but ím quite happy with the stock 18-55mm 2.8 on my X-T4. Itś just the portrait photography it lacks on.
Viltrox 33mm or the Fuji? Viltrox 33 is an average performer, severe CA in some instances, and not so smooth bokeh, but affordable. Fuji 33mm is arguably the best APS-C lens of its focal length, but the price reflects it.
@@paceyombex The lower price of the Viltrox is making me live with the CA, manageable in post.
@@magnusnordstrom9594 have you looked at the sigma 30mm?
@@Eyeofkamau No Thanks
@@magnusnordstrom9594 well, just mentioning it. I had the viltrox trio and sold them because of the horrendous chromatic aberration. The sigma has virtually no CA, is sharp throughout the frame, has better autofocus and far superior optics, and is just as affordable. That’s if you can do without an aperture ring though.
5:35 crazy shot! Can't believe this is came from an apsc camera.
wait, is that footage came from viltrox or fuji 16?
@@josephchristoffel First of all, thanks! I love what the footage from my Fuji cameras. The shot at 5:35 was taken on the Fuji XF16mm f/1.4. I put it in the video to give an example of a shot where I would use AF-S instead of AF-C. I had a similarly framed shot (same location but different day and different weather) with the Viltrox 13mm at 5:13. Hope that helps.
13mm 1.4 f it's 24"mm full frame equivalent. And this lense AF much faster than 23, 33, 56 & 85 of viltrox
It's 20mm equivalent. The 16mm is a 24mm equivalent
more expensive + wobble, the sigma is a better choice
