At Guerrilla, they are always happy to showcase their Dutch roots to the international community. So when the opportunity presented itself to collaborate with the Rijksmuseum, they had to take it. Guerrilla's Narrative Director Ben McCaw, Aloy Voice Actor Ashly Burch and Rijksmuseum's Curatorial Assistant Denise Campbell share their story and thoughts on the artworks that were chosen to be featured during a pivotal moment in the story of Horizon Forbidden West.

I was looking up the real world art while going through this part of the game, was surprised the pieces were real- I’ve never seen them before🔥
The music in this game is fantastic.
I love how collaborations like this celebrate and acknowledge video games as a serious artistic medium by allowing them to include works of historical significance that were curated by real world museum archivists. This would have been unheard of just 30 years ago.

Wow, I never knew about all this. Thanks for making this video and giving us more background on that part of the game. I’m on my second play through now. Now, that I know all this, this time around I’m going to pay extra attention to detail on this segment. With what I know now, I’ll certainly have more appreciation and get more enjoyment this time around. Thank you for doing that.
Gotta admit, clicking this I thought the Reijksmuseum would actually display some of Guerilla's work and give video games the long overdue credit of an art-form.
Especially Forbidden west would have deserved that praise, what fantastic game that raises the bar for all open-wordl games to come...
As much as I definitely see games as an art form, it's can't be compared to old art like what's on display in these kind of museums. It wouldn't fit there.
@@g-alicenine Might fit in a separate exhibition space, they have quite some different exhibitions throughout the years.
I spent quite some time in the vault to enjoy these works of art. Thank you for this collaboration in combining classic art with current art.

Totally didn't expect to see a Rembrandt paintings in a scifi game set in the far future. Aloy's confusion when seeing them is interesting and a bit funny.
I copped HFW day one and have not gotten a chance to play yet. I will take my sweet time with this masterpiece.
I didn’t even realise the art in Tilda’s vault was art from the Rijksmuseaum, I was there in 2019!
The studio is located not far from the Rijksmuseum. So it makes sense! :)
Just finished the game yesterday. Loved it and I loved this moment in the game. I almost want to suggest that viewing the art be mandatory at that point of the game, but art galleries are a personal experience and choosing whether or not to partake is up to the viewer. However, let it be mentioned that you can return to the vault after completing the final mission for another look. Hope another collaboration happens for Horizon 3 at some point in the future. Keep up the great work Guerrilla games and thank you Rijksmuseum for the collaboration.

Riding the hot air balloons with Christmas hologram at night and heartwarming dialog is one of the most beautiful moment that i have ever experiences in a video game.
And i can ride it all over again.
This really talks to you more after getting done an assignment where you make a piece on comparing a video game company to pieces of art.

@@ulqinaku8471 elden ring is great but not everyone relates to the dark souls genre. So it really doesn't justify making it GOTY. HFW is more catered towards all kind of gamers from all around the world.
@@iceice0000 Elden Ring may not for everyone, but it’s still pretty mainstream compared to its spiritual predecessor more than ever. Haven’t played both games ‘cause i haven’t got myself a ps5, but my money is on Elden Ring for goty
@@ulqinaku8471 I respectfully disagree. I've played every FromSoftware game since Demon's Souls and found myself disappointed with Elden Ring. It's not a bad game by any means but very overrated in my opinion.
This video was just amazing n what a better way to showcase art than in a game now that’s thinking out the box , I have this game and can’t wait to play it after Ramadan ( our fasting )

I enjoyed this game.
I loved this sequence in the game and the dialogues between Aloy and Tilda that came with each piece of art.
My favorite part of the game. I saved screenshots of all the art on that bunker

In my opinion, Horizon 2 is by far the GOTY so far. Don’t like souls like games, and the level of richness in HFW storytelling is just fantastic, far more impressive than Elden Ring. The gameplay is sharp and definitive, the soundtrack is breathtaking and the graphics are simply outstanding. Got the platinum and would do it all over again

This type of content would be perfect for the VR version....
I love this franchise and it's world building attention to various details. I'm 81 hours into the sequel currently and still have only explored about 75% of their world map thoroughly as a semi-completionist.
*EDIT: 5 DAYS LATER... got my platinum trophy 🏆 for both games now. Just waiting for that DLC and 3rd game now

One of the things I really like about Horizon Forbidden West is there's no microtransactions like with Assassin's Creed Odyssey where you could pay to level up faster. There's no bugs like with No Man's Sky. There's no microtransactions like with the new Gran Turismo.
