I guess the durability grindstone is meant to be used with the quartz upgrade that increases damage when at max durability
This, with multiple upgrades for ATK while at full durability, the damage increase is quite substantial

Did you tested it? If i'm not mistaken the dmg increase from the perk is quite substancial, so, having it for 40 seconds sounds reeeeeally good!
The durability grindstone is designed towards elemental weapons that can’t be imbued with a different element. Combine it with the quartz upgrade that boosts dmg when Durab. Is at max for significant elemental dmg results
Perfection grindstone trivializes the Laxasia fight, but I probably wouldn't use it elsewhere. The satisfaction grindstone is the best if you run a weapon with an element already attached, and the elemental stones for non-elemental weapons.
Perfection grindstone also makes phase 2 of the Nameless Puppet fight pretty much a joke as well.
And every single stalker... and every enemy with a weapon...

@@evanlarsen9885 15 seconds is plenty of time to break an enemy's weapon. The big guy in the Black Rabbit fight becomes way easier once you break his big sword and I learned on NG+ that the sword stays broken in the second fight, which was a nice little surprise.
I completely obliterated the Nameless Puppet's 2nd phase with the Perfection Grindstone. That thing is nuts.

I would also like to add that some weapons with crit built-in have the grind fable art, which increases crit even more.
Yep, everything added together results in a 90% crit rate, so that's near garunteed critical hits for about a minute.
I would say it's important to note that this ranking really applies more to Motivity/Technique builds. Fire/Electric/Acid grindstones simply don't work on most Advance weapons, given that they already have a status damage type applied to them. In the case of an Advance build, the Perfection, Indomitable, and Destruction grindstones all make a lot more sense for regular usage, with the Perfection and Destruction ones making a little more sense for late-game usage. (Though this is also impacted by their late-game acquisition)
I like to pair the satisfaction grindstone with the assassin's amulet alongside The Proof of Humanity and using its fable art to up the crit rate even more. It actually works as a pretty decent way to deal damage, especially if you use the full fable combo.

I prefer to use the perfection one as it have an unique effect and just buy the elemental grindstones to use when the perfection wears off.
Not necessarily unique, as the perfect guard fable art can provide the same effect, even if only for a short moment
When i first got perfection grindstone, i thought it was just a decent effect, but when i used it on the laxasia, manus and the namesless puppet, i realized how insane it is, its busted
The perfection grindstone works extremely well with the P-organ which breaks enemy stance on perfect guard.
Used the perfection grindstone against Romeo when he does his big fire combo. Completely trivialised the attack
The stagger grindstone is good with the p organ things that allow you to get more stagger duration
Where would you rank the Golden Lie on your weapons list? Seems to get longer hitbox based on humanity and the fable art works really well with guard upgrades, felt weak at first but have started to really like it. Also I agree about durability grindstone feeling weak against decay but it actually gives a pretty big damage buff with the max durability ATK upgrade, which also works really well with durability on perfect parry and the amulet for cool gameplay loop where you use enemies to sharpen weapon and counter with near 2x damage

Perfection Grindstone is the grindstone I use on all of the Isle fight. Don’t really need it for Door Guardian but it’s nice to have. But start of Laxasia phase 2 is a great time to have perfect blocks. Phase 2 Simon is also nice just so you can stay in there and deal damage without worrying about getting hit as much. And especially useful against Nameless’s 2nd phase. I use it right off the bat and just stand there parrying to build up the stagger meter. Get a few hits in, then Fable attack and you can usually get a Fatal attack off, then activate the second grindstone and do it again. Worked wonders for me, only took me 10 attempts to beat Nameless, and only the last 3 attempts had me using 2 grindstones instead of 1.
i retrieved all the collection boxes and don’t have the option to buy the perfect grindstone i’m at the nameless puppet and i need it
Perfection Grindstone + Urgent Repair tools are the only thing that got me through Nameless Puppet's 2nd phase. I could have probably switched to a different weapon like the katana and done it easier, but I wanted to beat it with my beloved Tyrant Knife + Pistol Rock Drill (what I call the "Stab-o-Matic 5000") that carried me through most of the late game.
The aegis legion gains the effects of grindstones. Don't know if it's intended, but it is overpowered.
Satifaction grindstone i would use most of game with spear of covenant, but perfection grindstone perfect for laxasia start of phase 2 to take out 1/3 of her health with lightning deflects.
I was crossing my fingers that the indomitable grindstone would give you extra perfect guard frames (like a buckler parry vs shield).
I got a couple questions. So we know there are only like 4 weapons with innate crit. Does that mean every other weapon is completely incapable of doing crits without the grindstone? And does that mean the assassin's amulet is useless unless you're using one of the 4 crit weapons? Every single weapon has damage values that fluctuate, and I was under the impression that was because of crits. But if only 4 have crit, what is making these values differ so much?
Edit: should have saved these questions for the amulet video, which I'm watching next.
Yes unless in the weapon details it says crit like in the trident of the covenant for example then that weapon cannot crit unless you use the crit grindstone. And yes that means the assassins amulet is useless unless you use the grindstone or your weapon has innate crit. Im pretty sure the damage on each weapon hit is RNG around a value based on the ATK of the weapon. Not 100% sure tho as only heard about it in another CZcams video. But no the damage fluctuating is natural and not the result of crits. You can tell if something crits as you’ll see a translucent red impact effect appear around the hit when you do crit. Dont critical hits also remove bosses recoverable HP? Could have sworn critical hits had an additional effect on top of more damage.

Satisfaction grindstone is extremely good on multi hit weapons like spear of honor heavy attacks
Imagine using Pistol Rock Drill blade with Spear of Honor handle , or even the Pistol handle itself, it’s already has 30% Crit built-in
real ones know why durability grindstone is one of the best. if you have a heavy build and quartz upgrades that boos your dmg when weapon is at max dura

Is the last boss a carcass? Or human? I want dmg buff. And does he do slash or strike?
Hes considered human in both phases and most of his attacks are strike.
Unless you mean the nameless puppet, in which case its in the name, and hes mostly slash and pierce.

I was stuck at Romeo for a min in ng+ because of that massive flurry he does at 50% hp. The easiest thing is to let your specter have agro when it happens, or have a high stam/legion build with aegis and hope for the best. Perfection stone would definitely be useful there, too. Like the guy above me, it makes Lax phase 2 a cake walk...

I just got to Simon, using the trident with the fox amulet and the critical grindstone. I destroyed his first phase. Haven't got his second down yet...
My favorite combo gotta be fire grindstone + salamander dagger. It doesn't work, yet. But I'm sure someone out there will make my build viable.

how do we know which bosses are puppet/carcass/human? I know some are obvious but some it's hard to tell

If they behave robotic, theyre obviously weak to electric
If they're humanoid and actually talk, they're weak to acid
If they're beastly, fire.
The puppets you know. The humans are only the mini bosses like owl doctor and the black rabbit brother hood. The carcass enemies would be victor, green swamp monster, Simon and corrupted enemies. Hope that helps

Just beat the game, i kinda a meat and potato king of player. I like basic stuff in games. Never used any grindstone with effect, throwable, consumable or fable attack. I eventually used the legion arm, the fully upgraded string is really nice. Also never understood the difference between parry and perfect guard.
For the durability grindstone, wouldn’t you stay at max durability with every hit? Making the P-organ upgrade “raises attack when at max durability” constant with every hit? I’m not sure how much it boosts, but ur cousin be worth testing.
