15:52 On the Rembrandt sketchbook. Check the label that you removed from the sketchbook. If it says "Made in Italy" you might have part of the answers. There is also a very old and traditional papermaker in the Netherlands, Schut, which has been producing paper since 1618. Rembrandt might have outsourced the sketchbook to them. Schut does lots of private label work for other companies.

32:37 Hi! You can get best results on watercolour paper. The paper you used is coated and does not absorb the water, and it buckles. Paper is sometimes more inportant than paint when using watercolour. I hope you try them on the rught paper before you finally make your mind up. I have some Rembrandt paints, their granulating aet and the beautiful quinacridone orange (PO48). They are excellent and I hope to expand my collection with single pigments. I had hoped this would help me get a closer look. Thanks for the video

The flower sketchbook looks so lovely! I'm still a bit new to watercolours, but so far I use Buff Titanium to make tinted/muted opaque colours instead of white gouache. It will glaze slightly lighter on top of darker colours.

You bought a box from over two years ago. Most of your colours have an packaging of the old set of watercolours. Rembrandt has changed the style of the wrappingpapers and some of the paints.
The "R" is based on Rembrandts signature on his paintings.

Hi! I really enjoyed watching your video! I use rembrandt watercolor paints, but in tubes, and I really love them. As far as I can tell, my impression of them is very good. But I really appreciate those low-tinting colors just as they are, it may be a matter of taste☺
Anyway you should be able to get them a little bit deeper, by pre-wetting them a little bit longer in advance.
Otherwise for some pigments it could be better to pick them in tube form (just in case you wanted to try again).
Although I have viridian in tube form, and that one had actually some excess binder, making it shiny and unpleasant when dry. I had to work a bit through that tube to get away the "stickiness" and shine, but then it was fine. The formula for that pigment is rather hard to get right. The color is amazing though (but again, I really love subtle, delicate colors especially in the green and purple sides of the spectrum).
Aside from viridian, and green earth that had the same issue, the others I tried were perfectly fine fresh from the tube. Their earth tones are very transparent. Burnt Sienna from the tube is much more rich. You may be interested in trying their transparent red oxide in its place, PR101 is always more punchy and rewettable than Pbr7, though they give different results in mixture.
Worth noticing that they have three different shades of cerulean and I find them all lovely, just like their french ultramarine and ultramarine deep.
Funny thing is, I actually have been eyeing that monopigment set for a while, that you reviewed here. I think it is very cleverly put together as for the color selection and you really made me want to try it even more😂
Sorry for the long comment, but hope this helps😘

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and for sharing your experience with the paints! It's so great to learn what others think about the brand as I barely use Rembrandt 😊 I did use this set a bit ore though and I can say that you are right about the richness of the color. After I have used them a few times, the colors definitely became more vibrant. I can see a bit of shine still when the paints dry but maybe they need some time to be used a bit more...
I can also say that it is a great mixing palette, the greens I get are just soooo beautiful 💚💚💚 🤩 😍 I think that you will love this set if you do decide to get it 😊 😊 😊

I just got a Rembrant set out and I had used only half of the pans. The new pans gave me some troubles at the beginning too, once you "break" the surface they are super pigmented. Please, do a swatch of these, to see how the monopigmented colors work together. :)

lovely art haul video! about the royal talens sketchbook - i bought a pad of their "cotton paper" at jackson's (which was mislabeled in the shop listing, it was actually 25% cotton) and i discovered that.... yes, rembrandt outsources their watercolor paper materials from Fabriano, as their block is literally a rebranded Fabriano Studio glued in the four edges.

      @TatianasArtandCraft  Před rokem +1

@@TatianasArtandCraft you're welcome! I also got the naming mixed up, royal talens sketchbook =/= Rembrandt paper products. I think RT produces their sketchbook, but when it comes to watercolor papers (which, then, it goes to the Van Gogh and Rembrandt department, since both of these brands are from Royal Talens) they outsource. I compared the block i had with my Fabriano studio spiral pad. It even has the same icon labels from the Studio pad (a logo with a flower on it and another logo with "produced with water renewable energy")

Omg they have a white paper sketchbook 😩👏🏼 I don't use viridian much but I love love love it mix purples 🥰 and I love buff titanium for a base to colors skin, I dont paint realistically so I think that why it works for me when it comes to skin 😅 but I do know that some prefer to use it instead of white as it's interesting because it's granulating and has a tint to it.
Also the info about the paint having a wax or something on top, I didn't know that! I heard some comments about handmade paint having something like that but I didn't realize it can happen with professional line as well.

Thank you so much for sharing! I rarely paint portraits and for purples it’s usually some blue and Quin rose 😊

I love viridian because I find it more natural in comparison to phtalo green, plus as you already told it granulates and separates in mixes and yes it is very useful for portraits, right? 😊 and buff titanium, same as you. It gives a nice vintage/pastel-ish atmosphere to any color palette

Maybe they don't have an agreement with Fabriano, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got their paper from the same mill. It could be very similar, but not exactly the same. You know, like the pattern from the mold being the same, but the pattern being slightly less pronounced, maybe from the type of pulp and cotton each company has chosen. Like every paper made from the same mill that produces Arches isn't going to be Arches, but will be made with the same process, know what I mean? I hope I'm making sense.🤣🤣
