    This activity was quite enjoyable - it reminded me of the various Assassin Tombs we've found in AC II, Brotherhood, and Revelation. The mystery also behind the door is pretty cool too; I didn't even consider the fact that these four locations might just be located to what Loki has been looking for now

      It did remind me of the Tombs from AC2 and a bit of those from Origins too :)

    @13:30 Actually given what we know (1. genetic memory; 2. cyclical sagelike reincarnation) they have been memories of these characters from other odin reincarnations, with no isu database or message required. More specifically the contents of the hallucinogenic messages could come from eivor/odin's own subconscious mind.

    Honestly, I was a bit iffy on the fact that the tombs were made by the Isu, despite the fact that they're the only ones it could have been. To my knowledge, we've never seen any Isu structures that have appeared to be this worn down, or that use a blue light accent rather than yellow or white. It's going to be interesting to see what happens in the next part of the Tombs of the Fallen, because maybe there will be a twist of sorts in it. Good video as always though, very much looking forward to the next part of it.

From what I recall, the majority of the Isu technology was mostly well preserved, with things being more broken than worn down, and having yellowish/white accents rather than blue. I also didn't state that any of what I said were pure facts, so I may be wrong about it.

    I really liked the tombs of the fallen, though Valhalla's parkour didn't do it justice. I don't how to feel about those cutscenes, I guess it's fine cause it's made by piece of eden (?)
    Also it is very much likely that Mercury is Roman interpretation of Odin, as seen in real life when Tacitus recorded his work in Germania I think.

    • @Ludohistory
      @Ludohistory Před 2 lety +1

      While you're right that it is almost certainly referring to the Interpretatio romanae of Odin to Mercury, it's very, very worth noting that there isn't actually a lot of contemporary evidence to say that Tacitus' Mercury (and presumably, therefore, other 1st century Romans' Norther European Mercury) is actually Odin! Tacitus doesn't say what this southern Germanic people called their gods, it's not clear that he knew or cared that the information he gave was right, and "Odin" as we know him doesn't even seem to have emerged much before the 7th or 8th century CE (when Gotlandic picture stones start showing scenes identifiable as "Norse mythology").

    • @rohit_parashar
      @rohit_parashar Před 2 lety

      @@Ludohistory Many historians believe that Tacitus equated Mercury to the Germanic God Woden who would eventually become Odin. Tacitus did so, as per the Historians, because Woden's Day and Mercury's Day fall on the same day, and both are trickster gods.

    • @Ludohistory
      @Ludohistory Před 2 lety +3

      @@rohit_parashar Your information is 20 years out of date. The equating of Mercury to Odin starts with Jakob Grimm, but gets really cemented by de Vries and Dumezil in the 1940s and 50s. That was the dominant idea until 1998, when Ton Derks pretty thoroughly showed that there is no evidence of the "Germanic gods" being worshipped along the Rhine in Tacitus' time at all. Studies by people like Philip Shaw since them have consistently confirmed this and further thrown Tacitus' account into question, and so no top scholar in the field these days would say that Tacitus is actually referring to *Wotenaz when he says Mercury (much less then claim that *Wotenaz is meaningfully similar to Odin almost a thousand years later).

    Great video Markuz and your team !
    But don't you think that the "Tombs of the Fallen" activity will be done in several times and that Ubisoft will make updates as we go along, all this to introduce the next big DLC on Odin next year ? (with the kingdom of Svartalfheim,...)
    I think we'll have to go to other temples with Odin's runes and that after a while it will allow an opening of the "great" temple's door and the beginning of the DLC with Odin.
    Also, don't you think that the activity "Tombs of the Fallen" have some connection with the encounter (according to the leaked script lines) between Eivor and Caesarion, which should happen by the end of the year?
    Also, can we see a parallel with a upcoming mission, where Eivor meets Kassandra? But I'm not so sure about that.
    Best,
    Mathieu, modo of AC French wiki.
