- An unreleased gem from Marty which was first released on the 'Lost And Found' album which was released in 1994. Marty never lost his knack for writing songs of the highest quality all throughout his career.
I believe the fiddle player is Buddy Spicher although I could be wrong. - Hudba
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
This great singer was 100% beautiful storyteller and as he sang your mind played out the story..he wrote it so prolifically.. wow is he missed!
Just the best
There may be talented singers out there somewhere, but I don't listen to them. I am hooked on the songs of the 50's and 60's. There will never be another singer like Marty Robbins who in my opinion is the BEST of the BEST. Enjoy all his songs because there is such emotion in his voice when he sings!
Just a few months ago I heard $20.Jim reminded me of MY JIM I lost in 2009, he use to drink A lot.
I think this is A very sad song.
But Marty does A wonderful job.
I don't think I've ever heard a bad song he sings.I never listen to the so called music they call country now a days.I only listen to classic country,on u tube .thank you u tube, for providing this great music we listen too.
I agree with you Peggy!
The singers of today just don't add up to those of yesteryear! Never listen to them.
Just to say ,This song Identical to my Father ! My mom burned to death in 1951 , I was 5 of six kids , I don’t think I ever saw my father sober ! He lived to be 80 years old ! I never saw him with but one woman all those years ! He was always in the clubs being 20 $ Jim !
I'll say it again, why oh why can't someone sing like this now...
One of the greatest singer of all time rip.
Still the best there ever was.. .is... or now ever will be.
That is one beautiful song sang by one of the greatest country singers of all time
+Robert Dixon - Not "one of the best" - he was and still is THE BEST country singer we had.
This man has enough talent to put the today's world of music in the shade.
inya1lake he was the greatest singer
one of the gratest!!!
Hell, I've got enough talent to put today's world of music to shame!! Take a look at Ben Haggerd!
It isn't even close, inya
Boy this has alittle bit of "The City" in it. Don't it ?Can't get enough Marty !!!!!!!
The best singer ever for cowboys songs and love songs I get chills every time I hear him
Anything By Marty Robbins Is Great - He Is One Of The Best That Ever Walk The Streers Of Nashville. The Clowns That Call Themselfs Country Singers Is A Slap In The Face Of The Legends That Could Sing Nelson
I agree with you whole heartedly!
This "lost" treasure sounds great as the legendary King of the Cowboy ballads, Mr. Marty Robbins sings another great country song that showcases his unique
masterfully made voice !
Marty was one of the greatest no doubt about it. This is a great song and Marty has so much feeling in his voice. That makes the difference between a good singer and a great singer.
This man was unbelievably talented!
Love this song ❤❤
The Brilliant Marty Robbins
I had the pleasure of seeing this man sing in my home city of Melbourne in Australia, long time ago, I'd loved his music since I was a kid, he didn't disappoint either, when you can see someone who creates a love of a genre of music that effects you so much that I had and have still, well it is something very special , hard to put into words . But I've listened to this fellow, since I first heard him when I was about 10 years old.
A great song, heart felt Marty does such a wonderful job such a great entertainer a great loss.
Marty always is the right music.
Saw him in Melbourne Festival Hall ,he give the band a break and entertained us just him and his guitar .Will never be forgotten 😻🇮🇪
Love Marty - and that PSG makes the hairs on my neck stand up.........
Marty was great ilove his music he had a good heart he will be missed
Why oh why can't someone sing like this now...
Listen to Andrew Combs. He is a good singer.
That awesome voice. WOW
The first song I ever heard him sing was a white sport coat and a pink carnation love that song
marty is the greatest singer ever always will be
Marty was one of the best singers. I was lucky enough to see him perform. Wow he could sing any type of song!
DualsDave
his son Ronnie Robbins is also awesome, definitely got his dad's voice and talent
Ronnie rocks!!!Love his voice, which is a little different from his dad's.
What an outstanding song by a true legand*****
Thank you Marty for this song !RIP
always wonderful
love hearing great marty songs
how can there be 7 thumbs down for this or any Marty song
People just 'thumbs down' because they are clueless about the singer, Marty or otherwise. Marty Robbins was unique, outstanding, and a very, very RARE talent!
(And person.) !!!
Marty the lyrics flow like Honey more than just a country singer .😻
Amen on that.
Oh Yea.... tears in my eyes...
A lot of Martin's songs were filled with names of his relation......from his childhood in Arizona.....Cigarettes and Coffee Blues.....his sis, Lillie told me that song was about their mother when their dad left.....makes me want to go through all my correspondence from her and 'relive' a wonderful era in country music when the singers could actually sing because they had talent....Martin was the best.
he is simply the best singer ever that's marty just love him
So true
I wish I'd heard this one a long time ago. Wow, what a gem!
I LIKE IT
I LOVE IT!!
Rose
Marty could singhe had a good heart
Great song!
Because all they know how to sing is all about drugs sex and loose morals the world is a changing sadly, no moral standards these days the best of the best I’m afraid is in the past, that’s why it’s great to listen to great singers like Marty Robbins and all the rest in that eara
I would say that the reason it was not released on radio was because it was over 5 minutes long. Radio wouldn’t hardly play the long ones.
a new one to me. but awesome nontheless. than u tarquin. this man was beyond talented. there will never be another like him.
Zane because the only one that could ever sing like this has gone on before us Marty I can't wait to see you someday I know you're up there singing To my wonderful mother who loved you dearly
Bonnie, listen to Andrew Combs or Lindi Ortega. They refuse to sell out and are making great music.
Great! Thanks!
Great song
@grannydyess Yes it was new to me as well. I thought I was pretty up on Marty's work but its nice to find one that I hadn't heard. His voice always gave me chills and still does. Ahh Marrty you left us way to soon RIP! Thanks for posting the video.
This is the saddest song ever
Lovely !!
New for me! Thought I knew all his recordings!
Maj-Brith H found this on lost and found record. All unreleased songs. Texas I love you is very awesome
I first heard this song at the age of eleven. Where it was played on the radio.
No need for words .😇
Imagine not releasing a Marty Robbin's song....Shameful, and It's a good one...
barrygioportmorien1 MARTY ROBBINS
he never made a bad one.
They also buried his song "Ain't I Right?" because they felt it was to controversial for the times and would upset people about Vietnam and communism...
@@Casper1tfg Now the Trumpsters are using it and My Native Land.
Don Williams and Marty Robbins
I think the fiddler was Gimble but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
Jim is the name of the person in the song. Marty had a liking for the name 'Jim' or 'Jimmy' as in his songs 'Jimmy Martinez', 'Jimmy And Me' and the lyric in 'The Cowboy In TheContinental Suit' which goes 'I turned around to look at Jim and he was watching me.'

I love this song. It is a country honk tonk that only Marty can write and sing. I wonder if Buddy Holly had not died would he have done a lot of country, with songs similar to "Twenty Dollar Jim".
How did Marty have such a strong command of the english language without fully graduating from high school? I know Marizona was extremely intelligent, did she play some role in Marty's perfect use of the language?
Hey Tarquin45 thanks for the post, great song! Ya'll have any idea where I might be able to find the lyrics and or chords for it?
Thanks again for the post
Do you know who played the the steel guitar in twenty dollar jim
Sounds like Spicher.
