It's funny how you can sort of hear Ray Charles in all these great hits by Don Gibson. Maybe Ray sensed they were on the same wavelength when he covered "I Can't Stop Loving You."

How I loved my teen years when I discovered these two icons of country music. Countless ,years, records and albums later, they still provide consistent brilliance with their singing and songwriting. Glad I didn't have to suffer the junk that now masquerades under the name of country music today.

I want to reply to my friend Tarquin 45 here... People do not realize how awesome this video is! Don Gibson and Marty Robbins were two of Nashville's finest song writers in their time! What is even more awesome is that Marty is singing a lot of Don's great songs as a sort of tribute to him... Marty rarely shared the stage with anyone else, but on this occasion, he really did! Awesome clip!

These two singers are underrated and unappreciated. That’s shameful.
These were two of the Masters. Hear Jack Pruitt playing that lead.....he was one of the best in Nashville. I saw him play with Marty in Memphis once. There was no better a song writer and singer than Don Gibson....he, like Marty, made a big splash in pop music as well as country.
