    Hello Cave Dwellers! I'm so excited to finally have this ready to pre-order, you're going to love it especially if you're new to retro gaming with MiSTer. Here are the all important links:
    Patron only pre-order page: rmcretro.store/mister-multisystem/
    Please note that despite our very best efforts to have this ready to ship in October global events caught up with our supply chain at the last minute (we ordered components back in Feb/Mar) and so we have a new estimated date of 26th November to have these here and ready to ship to you. Frustrating but hopefully not a deal breaker.
    If you have questions about the Multisystem the best place to ask is here in the comments or on the RMCretro Discord chat server at discord.gg/jGvH3VDs8h
    You can also email us for help at rmcretro.store/contact-us/

      @@aldizzle The scart was such a hassle to connect, very easy to bend some pins, luckily you could bend them back into shape. I'm glad we got rid of it.
      On the other hand though it gives you easy access to RGB, here in Europe only high end TVs had the component connectors.

      @KarlUKmidlands Před 2 lety +4

      To be fair if you start looking at putting together a mister it's not exactly an impulse buy, and it's pretty obvious to anybody that there are alternatives as its an open source project so don't understand why somebody was criticizing not mentioning alternatives, they never said it was an exclusive or the only option the original video was clear Neil even said shop around and look at the alternative's, IMHO having a board made by an experienced manufacturer with quality components and a free to download printable case can only help the project and make it more popular

    • @nickiebanchou
      @nickiebanchou Před 2 lety

      @@KarlUKmidlands yeah that whole question came out as a pretty salty callout , like "how dare you talk about the thing you're doing instead of the thing X is doing" ... it's like someone just wants to start a beef among board makers actually instead of trying to promote wholesome contributions...

    Great work! But also DAMN YOU! (and Bob from RetroRGB because it was his news round-up that brought this to my attention even though I was already familiar with your channel).
    I like my current MiSTer in its official case because it's so tiny and portable, so I don't want to sacrifice that. However, your product is very similar to a whimsical idea I had about putting one in a console style case, except yours is way better thought out and executed and is sexy and I want one!
    Not only that but you reminded me how much I love the idea of having a MiSTer in a keyboard case (reminiscent of the Amiga/C64/Atari 800XL) so now I want one of those too despite not having the D.I.Y skills required!
    Stop making me want things I can't but can but really can't afford! In the space of a couple of hours I've gone from being reasonably content with my setup (though I was already looking at buying a MT32-Pi) to wanting to own three MiSTer set-ups!
    PS: Do you think you'll ever make a similarly implemented keyboard case?

    Great video. Picked up a MiSTer a month or so ago but didn't get the io or usb boards and made do with the nano, otg usb hub and 128 ram as I was considering this board when I saw the first video. Great price especially considering the ram is included and am highly likely to get this instead of the already available options. Hope the upcoming psx core doesn't require any additional ram because I think that core is going to get a lot of people on board with the MiSTer project (along with the Saturn)

    I really like the slightly casual approach to this project. I've been looking at the Mega65 today, which looks like another great project, but it seems like the money is being spent on making it Uber-polished and high end. Your approach is just a bit friendlier and that makes the product more appealing.

    the consolised MiSTer Multisystem is one the most exciting developments happening in the retro-computing scene - was great to see and hear from the face behind the board :-)
    BTW, I've read about some companies deciding to ramp up manufacturing using 3D printing - I guess there's a cost analysis balancing point where it remains more sensible to stick with acquiring more 3D printers for more production capacity vs taking the plunge into injection moulding. Retro computing products probably are typically at volume levels where 3D printing is just the sensible option

    i think the retro community never can thank u enough for your effort. when i can purchase one then i will definetly buy one. Nothing can compare to the original controller game session on a crt tv. i will surely use both emulators and the mistersystem but. I think this system can be named as the holy grail of retro gaming. I can only bow and give you the best congrats. Pretty interested what your next projects will be.

    • @coopercummings8370
      @coopercummings8370 Před 2 lety +1

      I don't know your budget, but there are ways to get the mister project going that are cheaper. Several of the cores can run on a bare de-10 nano board with no additional ram or other boards, so to get started you just need the de-10 nano, an HDMI cable, a micro usb to full sized usb adapter, and a usb controller, much of which you probably already have, and you can buy the other stuff later if you want to expand your options. You don't even strictly need to get a micro sd card because the de-10 nano includes an 8gb card, which is plenty for several of the earlier systems the mister supports. If you want to play on a crt the price doesn't need to get that much higher, there are various hdmi to vga and hdmi to component adapters that are pretty cheap and won't add any lag, but you do need to do some research to make sure you get the right one.

      @@retroistaba Many of the cores do need an additional ram module, but the usb hub and IO boards are almost entirely optional. this project integrates the ram, io board, and usb hub into one pcb with a few extra features. The IO boards do have a secondary sd card slot that used to be used for the hard drive space of some computer cores, some might still require that but for the most part they can now use the primary storage on the DE-10 nano, other than that a DE-10 nano and a ram board should play just about everything, but you may need to improvise a cooling solution (the io boards include a fan so you don't need to improvise with them). There is a possibility that the upcoming ps1 or saturn cores may require a dual ram board setup that wouldn't work with the analog io board or various other solutions that aren't part of the standard mister stack, but that has not been confirmed and I don't even think the developers of those cores have suggested it is likely

      Eventually our retro consoles will succumb to rot. While there are efforts to recap retro consoles by replacing their capacitors, soldier joints, laser lights (in CD-Based consoles), etc., a day will come when our favorite systems will be unrepairable due to age. It’s a sad fact really.
