      now there is a certain level of grunting where it's just annoying but like before you freak out or anything look and see how much weight they are repping cuz in order to lift a lot of weight you have to breathe properly, and if they are making an unnecessary amount of noise just politely ask to quiet it down a bit. The whole weight slamming thing is stupid when your doing almost any machine it's sometimes hard to make the weights not make noise cuz you don't know when they are gonna hit.

I have never seen anyone judge another person at any gym I have ever been, but what planet fitness did was feed off that and they went a step further. The people who most people thought would judge them are now the one being judged. You got to hand it to them...they knew exactly how to do it.

  • @matthewhauserman4755
    @matthewhauserman4755 Před 5 lety +2

    My only problem with Planet Fitness is the no grunting. It's a natural reaction from your body when you are truly exerting yourself. As for the power lifts, lack of heavier weights and major things for body builders, the average Joe doesn't need these to be FIT. Fitness is not how much you can lift, squat, etc. Fitness is the condition of being physically fit and healthy. Planet Fitness provides everything that you need to get fit and maintain that fitness. If you want gains, muscle, bragging rights, etc. you would go to a gym that encourages that. Planet Fitness doesn't encourage the above and beyond necessities. It encourages being active and staying active.
    My biggest gripe is when everyone complains that Planet Fitness is trying to load you with carbs 2 days of the month. Fitness isn't just exercise, it's also how you eat. A slice of pepperoni pizza (300 calories give or take) and a plain bagel (300 calories give or take) once a month isn't going to impact your fitness. Now if you go in on these days and just eat them non stop while available, yeah its going to hurt you. Not because they provided it, but cause you couldn't control yourself. Just like their tootsie rolls. 1 Tootsie Roll is less than 15 calories. Your body will burn that off on the way home after a workout. Now if you eat more than 4 of them, you are hurting the work you put in and again only have yourself to blame.

    I learned one thing from this, they don't allow supersets. WTF? One of the best ways to get more of a workout in within a shorter period of time and to help pull blood from your muscles making the recover time between sets much shorter is doing supersets. Also makes it easier to keep muscle group properly proportional to each other.

    Planet fitness is not a gym for people who want to build muscles or do any kind of gain thats why the alarm and the shameing is there. The gym is more of a "come here to lose weight" gym targeted at self conscious women, overweight people, and people who are just super out of shape.
    There's a million gyms out there for people who are serious about fitness bodybuilding ect and but planet fitness discourages these kinds of people so as to not intimidate and discourage the rest of their clinetell. Wich is why all their machines are beginner friendly and weights don't go up super high

    Reason I go to PF is because it's the closest in distance of about 2 miles away from my place since other gyms like Gold's are over 20-ish miles away, it's cheaper and within my budget as a broke college student, and I like the chill atmosphere with the friendly staff. It definitely helped me get more comfortable with gyms overall and I got in shape somewhat fast. Although I don't understand why they have pizza/bagel/coffee days. At my college there is a small fitness center and to be honest I prefer the machines there more but it's almost always packed so I go to PF instead.

Difference with me is, I only use bodyweight exercises but not skills. I don't feel powerless without a gym, however I really need some cool air. But great video here.

    I'm pretty sure my planet fitness is franchised or something cause the free weights go to 90 and there's a squat rack and only two rows of cardio machines (which is still a lot) and i've dropped 65lb dumbbells and haven't gotten the lunk alarm turned on me yet. But other than that from what I see from my friends snap chats and videos there PF's are 90% cardio, 2 smith machines with a max weight of 400 and 2 benches for free weights haha.

    I must be missing something. Planet Fitness is very clear about the kind of customers they want to attract. If that's not you - don't go. Why go there and try to make it like the gyms you like to go to and moan when it isn't. Go somewhere where you can make noise and squat in a squat rack and all the other things that PF doesn't let you do. Don't eat the pizza, don't eat the bagels (unless you want to of course). Work out, move more eat less and enjoy life - don't worry that others aren't living up to your exacting standards. I don't go to Planet Fitness because it's not the way I like to train, but good on you to everyone that does.

Everyone is complaining and moaning but after all this gym is supposed to be for people who aren't that strong and want to get into the fitness lifestyle. Your not supposed to keep Planet Fitness as a primary gym permanently, but rather as a starting point of your journey. The gym will only be good for beginners for about the first 2 years. After that, you should be ready to get into a high intensity gym to get bigger. Period.

The only thing I can’t do is deadlift...and I go to 24 hour for that. The one thing that keeps me coming back day after day is their total body enhancement machine. It’s my fountain of youth. I have tennis elbow, in both elbows...and since I’ve used the machine (around 5 times per week...after every workout, for the past 2 months) I’ve noticed the level of pain has drastically reduced and on some days, I don’t feel any pain.

      These folks just love to blast planet fitness because of their mistake of commercials towards bodybuilders years ago. It seems that most planet fitness location I have tried to change this moto.They whine about the pizza and bagels, lack of weights, etc... I never hear the lunk alarm go off at the current planet fitness. The one I was at I before this current location I think I heard once or twice and that was weights crashing down hard. And if they got a problem with a slice of pizza or a bagel once or twice a month, than there are serious other issues with their dieting, plus nobody is forcing them to eat it. I have seen guys twice this guy's build and don't have a bit of problem with amount of weights or equipment. They just go in and work with what they got and they are usually some of the coolest folks you could meet. I wish these people would stop with all the juvenile criticism and find a gym they like.

    Sorry that you are getting this question(well not really) but what real gym has a membership you can use as you travel? Most require at least using your 'home' gym a few months before you pay a fee to use one in another town. I am only home twice a year for a weekend. I am never in the same town long. Soooooo, planet fitness is about the only fitness center (not gym) I have found to work for me. As far as dropping weights really, I watched a guy slam a Smith machine and it didn't go off. Guess it depends on the facility. Most the people I see at these places (I've been to a few) aren't doing more than simple exercise anyway. No it isn't for the hard core. But try to see from a novice outlook at your favorite 'gym ' you might get a different opinion. Would you want uneducated people clogging up that place. I for one am glad to have a facility that I can go to, usually do a basic full body and only get a few stares but I don't have a problem adapting to rules, the Marines taught me that.
