- The tension builds as we recount the moments when disaster seemed inevitable. Share in the relief as a sailboat narrowly avoids collisions with Two other sailboats and a bridge.
Anchoring during a storm required good anchor chain and the right anchor to protect you from breaking free.
We then sail from Vero Beach to West Palm Beach in big waves. We sail at almost 9.2kts and enjoy a great finish in our entry to west palm beach.
Hope you enjoy the video.

I am disappointed you didn’t go and help that drifting yacht, if it had have been your boat I’m sure you would have wanted some one to assist you. And if the only reason was your tender was raised. Shame on you. If there was any other reason it wasn’t made clear. The fact that there was no damage is immaterial.
We radio all the boats, blew our air horn and screened at the other two boats about the abandoned boat that just broke free.
Unfortunately there were other factors at play here that we didn’t discuss or cover in the episode. And we understand this left some people feeling that we were cavalier in our approach to a drifting vessel.
We can assure you that we are always first to volunteer and help any boater in distress. And we have even covered it in some of our older videos. But we failed to explain things properly, provide better context to what was happening before and follow up beyond the incident. We will be more responsible with our videos in the future and take a more thoughtful approach. We appreciate you watching and for letting us know how you feel about our content.
We are hanging out in the Jupiter and Palm Beach areas right now so it’s fun to see you sailing in here!
Woo hoo. Stop by for a beer next time. 👍
Love your channel!!!
Thank you so much. 👍❤️
Great channel guys ⛵️
Thank you so much. 🍺❤️
Oh man so sorry about all the terrible comments! People don’t realize you don’t just step on a moving boat without putting your life in danger.
Appreciate the support. Our mistake was not explaining things better in the video. There were other circumstances and factors beyond our control that we didn’t cover in the video. And we should have done a better job so that people had a better understanding of why things happened the way they did. A learning experience for us going forward to make a more concerned effort when covering things of a more serious nature. Thank you again for the kind feedback.
😀👍👍👍❤

I'm with them, drop the dingy, haul ass over there. I have seen videos of unmanned motorboats and people jumping on board to stop them. This was current. I asked copilot and AI offered, getting on board and dropping an anchor, if the boat has one. Also, if you can start the engine do that. Also use a dingy to tow the boat. But all were common sense things.
If there "other factors" it would seem they would be foremost on one's mind and naturally come out. If it were your boat and you saw this video of some other people filming it, pretty sure it would be very disappointing.
We appreciate your thoughts in this. It was definitely a tough situation. This abandoned boat had been sitting on anchor for years, with no sails or spare anchor visible. And it broke free as we were riding out high winds and it was only by chance that we just saw it having been eating breakfast.
Our concern first was the other two boats anchored behind it. We blew the air horn and tried VHF as well as good ol fashion screaming. Unfortunately this is all to common an occurrence in the ICW, abandoned derelict boats left to rot and break free in storms.
We aim to better explain things in videos going forward and take responsibility for how this came across.
@@SailingZephyr another dingy was able. That derelict boat was not just a danger to the boats and people we can see but the ones we can’t see also.
Some people would have made a different choice. Plans change. Safety first. If you felt you did the best you could maybe that’s true. I wasn’t there. Maybe the video camera didn’t capture the moment well.

"there were other factors at play here that we didn’t discuss"
I think you need to discuss your decision making.
I am also shocked you didn't help out. Unless your dingy engine wasn't working or the sea state was poor and made it dangerous to assist there is no other excuse. I hope this never happens to you, but if it did and knowing your poor ethics, I would still assist if humanly possible as that's what genuine cruisers do for each other. The cost of re floating this vessel could be significant to the owner and it certainly did not look derelict and had sails attached. It could have been someones pride and joy that they had worked all their life for, you don't know their story and to make a buck on You tube out of someone else's misery is so un cool. Not everyone begs on You tube to allow them to sail around the world for free, be more respectful. We all help each other out in situations such as these and I would be heart broken if someone just watched and filmed our Blue water home that we have lived on for fourteen years float away without trying to help. I definitely will not be subscribing. Fair winds.
Why didn't you help ?
Or at least try ?
I didn't hear any Radio chatter to raise the alarm with fellow boaters or authorities?
I honestly do not understand why you did nothing but film ?
If that is your only actions as shown in your vlog quite frankly you should be totally ashamed of your Inaction to help or at least try ?

(No excuses). I just can't watch this. Tender takes 2mins to drop. Shame on you. 😮
I can’t believe you didn’t drop your dingy to help.what if it was your boat? Wouldn’t you want someone to help save your boat!! You watched 1 dingy go help but you just hoped it would end up in the mangroves!! Very disappointed in you both.LAME !! We’ll just watch and record.what goes around comes around, pay back is a bitch!!

@@SailingZephyr so exactly what were the other factors!!?? Your horn quit after 1 blow. The fact is you just watched a boat drift away and said you hope it ended up in the mangroves.oh wait it hit the bridge 1st then went into the mangroves.bottom line is you did nothing to help that boat!! Pay back is a bit@h.maybe you’ll explain in the next video,we’ll see
