- It's a long way around the UK coastline and those waves have taken their toll on our tiny 4meter boat, a 1977 Avon Searider. So it's back to the boatyard for Goodwin for some much needed improvements.
In this episode we visit Ryan at Ribworkz in Somerset to who makes some incredible brand new tubes: ribworkz.co.uk/
A broken stainless frame on the back of the boat gives me an opportunity to try my hand at TIG welding curtesy of R-Tech's TIG170 AC/DC welding machine, with surprisingly effective results.

With the new tubes on we then head to Ash Marine in Devon to fit a brand new Suzuki outboard. Big thanks to Ash marine and Suzuki for stepping in!

I love that Goodwin is a celebrity now. I also love that this series has evolved to not only teach the history of coastal towns but to highlight the amazing skilled artisans dedicated to their crafts and the great vendors willing to put themselves out there for the cause.
Harry and Goodwin back again makes my day. Gotta say, Goodwin 2.0 will be the envy of many a RIB owner. I can’t wait to watch the continuation of circumnavigation adventure.

Oh man, I love this series, my favorite on CZcams. Absolutely fantastic episode. I loved watching all of the rebuilding, the boat show, the new engine. It's great to see so many people willing to help you out and upgrade Goodwin. A little bittersweet to see most of the old RIB be replaced, but very cool to see how far Goodwin has come along. Looking very sharp!

Harry, I have been so invested in this and I love boating. I am from Michigan in the US, and hope to one day navigate a boat through all the Great Lakes. Watching this over the years made me think, if I was ever asked to join someone like you for an adventure like this it would be a matter of seconds before I said yes! The fact that you brought along your friends to see all the sights is amazing and so awesome. Cheers mate!

That was a belter of an episode! Goodwin has evolved and looking absolutely smashin. The video production seemed to be better too but I'm no expert in such things. Just seemed much tighter in the editing. I totally forget I'm watching CZcams. Just feels like I'm on Netflix and its frustrating I can't just jump to episode next. Godda wait!
Still cursing YT at that view count. This just should be in the million range. Everyone I've told about this has fallen in love with it across age ranges from teenager to elderly mum.

The craftsmanship in this video is beautiful to watch. From the handmade tubing to the trailer it’s built to extremely high standards. Looking forward to the rest of the journey round the country!
Those bolt holes in the transom will be a future problem. Water will get in, and if I remember correctly there is some new plywood there instead of high density foam. Water will make the plywood rot of course.
What could be done is to drill the holes oversize, fill with thickened epoxy, let cure, and then drill new holes through the epoxy. This will stop water from getting to the plywood.
Ryan is the guy I would go to for this kind of work. What a splendid guy.

Goodwin seems to have become something of an icon. I saw it at the boat show in a different video. As well as an icon it is testament to the skills of british craftsmen. Looking forward to seeing this version at sea!
