I was a Local 211 Pipefitter almost 40 yrs ago and there were two much older guys who always did the instrumentation work with the pretty stainless tubing. They showed me a lot and I really missed out not being assigned to them very often. I looked through my bookcase and found my old bluebooks and such. Since we were not allowed to use calculators in apprentice school (and my math skills SUCKED) I had written in the back of one of them "DON'T GIVE UP! YOU CAN DO THIS, FOCUS ON THE STEPS." Pretty neat finding that note. Thanks for the video.
Yes!!! Please make a pipe fitting video. I'm a pipe welder and can fit and tack fittings but I would really like to learn more about fitting.
I work in bending the pipe
Man would love more content on small stainless tube installs. I’m a field tech for an industrial water treatment company. I install chemical tanks and feed pumps and there is no content out there like this!!
I'm glad you didn't talk about your dog and cat, this tutorial Was short sweet and to the point, thank you, would love to see more.👍
You can never go wrong w videos like this. Keep'em comin
Yes great TUBE bending video. At the auto research group I retired from they did not have classes for precision, mathematical precalculated tube fitting ( at least in the groups I worked in), just a little OJT & observing more skilled technicians work. Finally I saw someones sharpie marks & realized they were using some formula & calculation they were privy to. I asked for more info & was given a tube fitting brandname handbook (it was swagelok), & learned more & finally felt semi-proficient. I got better at planning & layout & designed some nice test equipment that I built. I always felt I needed to learn more! I got to bend everything from 1/16" SS tube for fine pressure instrumentation to 3/4" SS CNG fuel systems. 1/2" & 3/4" Ss CNG tube was bent with gear reduction bending jigs & thinner 1/2" & smaller tubing bent with high quality leverage benders like the larger unit in your vid. Thanks
The swagelok book is dandy, they do classes too that include a test piece designed to run you thru the gamut, Parallel runs with offsets and the like. I love fitting tube, mainly cause I don't weld so I feel self sufficient on work I can bend and fit without having to get tig welded....need a bender for 3/4 tho....would be nice
With a set of slide benders you can unbend a 90° with good results
Love to learn more about tube bending, thank you.
I love how you explain it !!!
Thanks a lot Drew. You were clear and concise with your tutorial.
I love bendology.
Cheers for the info been smashing out the 1/2 instrument tubing with relative ease and no piles of useless stainless trombones anywhere
Great information
You simplified something complicated. Thanks
I am curious about tubefitting and see how it varies from larger pipe fabrication
Would love to see a dedicated pipefitting video
Wow you’re really good. You make it look easy
Love the video !!! Look up the sag method for bending tubing
Bring on the the pipe fitting videos.
Sure I would like more tubing content
Well done, good work, my friend.
What about your set back & advance
Very informational
thank you drew.
What a good thickness to bend by hand I have .020 and it just kinks with my bender. Hard to find 1/2 roll thicker the .023 seems like you can only buy it under 7 foot
Great video ... great explanation. make more.. be interesting to see how you would bend 1/4 ss piping along a wall with different angles.,
Super helpful
Thanks
Great video, hope you can make some more. Cheers
Want to say thanks for the 1.414 formula . Do you have a video on pipe measurements loss on 45, 60, 75 , kicks ?
Yes please, do the more pipping information video.😎
Perfect video! Nice job
Great ❤
I wish you’d show where the marks line up with the 45° bends.
Amazing
Thanks great video ☺️
Thank you. Why do you need to separately purchase the adapters? I got the same pump and it seems to come with them.
Very interesting!!
I want this tool
Where would you place the reference mark on the tube to get 45 angle
L or 45?
Will I use the same formula for measuring in mm
I need a 2" radius to the inside of the tube. How do I find a tubing bender that can do this? (5/8 tube). Thank you
Will those tubing benders still allow a fitting to slide past and around those bends? I need a tight bend and would need to flare one end prior to bending one side.
What’s the deduct for 1/4 air tubing bending a 90 or is there?
Have dity 12mm Pope Bender
No tip on the 22.5° bend?
Let’s lien more bro. Thanks
I can't find a fractional gain chart for anything above 1/2 O.D. Do they not exist or is it as simple as 1" O.D. would be 2x whatever the gain is for the 1/2" column at a given bend angle?
Why do tube welders use scratch start as opposed to HF, just curious.
For me its the tight spots and awkward torch grips required in position.. cant always grip near the wheel/slider/etc
How did you actually measure to determine what the lengths and angles should be? Ive heard of people using a wire
Hi great video. I’m interested in doing a bend with aluminum to create a stand. The top would be 7-9 inches and the legs 23 each side. Is it possible to bend at 7-9 inches apart? I’d be using 12mm - 1/2 inch tubing. Maybe smaller.
Which tool for expanding or swaying small diameter stainless, mild steel, or chrome molly tubing? I have found several for copper tubing and large diameter tubing but nothing for small diameter.
Pls I want to learn from you
Can a 3/8" tube bender be used to bend a 3/8" copper tubing into a coil? I need to make a condenser
What's this specific type of tube called?
Is it just me or was the first bend supposed to be 45°?
Hey Drew. What reciprocating saw blades do you use for cutting stainless steel? And blades for portable bandsaw. Thanks
The HF bender for 10 bucks just flattens it
You can't bend stainless steel tubing with the HF bender
Can you use this for acrylic pmma tubing?
Hello Boilermakers here, looking for advice, I am looking to bend a pipe 25NB 3 mm thicker at 500 mm radius and ask if anyone how can I make it? Thank you.
First time using one of these, I had a panic attack when you started doing math equations
what tubing cutter would you suggest for 3/8 stainless steel tubing?
Ridgid
Sorry for bothering where do buy the tubing
A local stainless supplier
No setback advance gain or layout...? hmm.
Dope video!
👍
Do the fitting videos fer sure
I am from rest of the world. The math is like square feet/pund per inch, I understand 0%
Please send me drawing
What did I miss? Your drawing has no 90 degree bend but you talk about and make a 90 for the first bend.
His drawing does have a 90, he drew it up in a section view so it just doesn’t look at first glance like it actually is a 90.
Plumber here just pretending to be a fitter
