Yo what’s up
Yammie Noob. Should I get a motorcycle?
@@Marcel204_ aren't you a youtuber he made the video week ago and put it unlisted.
Lol can't even participate cause I live in India but still love your content dude. Love from India Bro💓🤘🤘
If you're the better rider , riding with a newer rider , slow down. Try to ride closer to their comfort level. Good tips
I like to let new riders take lead so they set the pace. It also let's you see what kind of improvements they can make. I also apply this to myself when I ride with more experienced riders.
Positive advise from a negative guy!
@@ninjaguysith This is the Way. Also allows you to know easier if they go down so you can provide medical attention.
this right here is proof to yammie's old haters that he's learned his lesson, his whole mindset has changed cause guess what, people can grow. im proud of you yammie!
Crashing over 100mph has a tendency to humble
Being relaxed is something I find I actively have to work on as a new rider.
100% alert but not tense, that's the difference
My trick (on a neutral riding position bike) is to have my elbows pointing down and bent. Relaxes me every time.
I think at times like this morning riding into work I was a little more tired so I was more tense and I think it made me un smooth lol
As a 20-year commute rider, I STILL have to remind myself of this sometimes - especially in rain or if a cager tries to whack you. Let it go, man.
As an old rider as well still working on it
The hydration piece is super important. After passing out during a trail ride from dehydration on a buddies bike (no damage to the bike thank rossi) its really easy to get caught up in the ride and forget to look after your body. Drink thy wataa.
Yammie, the timing. I’ve had a bike for about two months now and finally took it up to the parkway here in North Carolina and got up above 40 miles an hour on some real twisty mountain roads. This couldn’t be a better recap for the things that I was thinking about. Thanks for what you do Homie
Hey man Im in NC also. The parkway is a beautiful ride. Be safe and have fun!
My FAVOURITE vid of yours ever! Memes/Piss taking all have their place but this content is actually more valuable than that... I am a middle aged old school steady rider and the fact that you are talking about being smooth, having a flow and anticipating hazards just makes me now warm to you genuinely. Yammie you're not so "Noob" after all! Warm regards from Yorkshire UK. 👏👍🏍💯
@15:35 - THANK YOU! I see this all the time especially lane splitting in CA, when people are greatly exceeding the speed of traffic and I'm like, "no thanks, I'd rather keep some stopping distance in case someone forgets to check their mirrors before change lanes". I'm generally pretty slow, not because I'm unskilled, but I'm not willing to take that many risks. At the end of the day, there aren't too many motorcycle accidents that couldn't have been prevented - who's ever fault it was is moot, the rider on two-wheels is suffering the consequences, and there is almost always something you could do as a rider to avoid accidents; the faster you go, the less room you have for error, and the less reaction time you give yourself. Always leave a way out, leave distance/time to react, always assume you're invisible to other drivers, and don't assume what drivers are going to do. I nearly hit a pick up truck on an overpass because they ran a solid red - as I was approaching the intersection of the off-ramp and I noticed they were also approaching at speed and I got the sneaking suspicion he had no intention of stopping at the red light which was a solid green for me, and sure enough he ran it. If I had assumed he would have stopped at the red I would have hit him as I was at speed and didn't have the room to stop. It would have 100% been his fault, but I didn't assume and in anticipation I was able to slow down and swerve around him - you can't even trust drivers to stop at reds. Safely being on two wheels is all about risk management.
Totally agree!!!
Just normal boring day, and all of a sudden Yammie noob uploads.
*Boredom has left the chat*
As a cruiser bro, the best way I've found to ride and enjoy twisties safely is to..... Ride something other than a cruiser. Hahahaha
Seriously though, I love my cruiser, and LOVE getting a good lean in, but I HATE dragging pegs. Every time I drag one I start singing... "Shitshitshitshit.. don't low-side don't low-side" lol
Don't wanna ride a super sport though! It will whisper in your ear and make you do things you shouldn't be doing haha
No offense but is it impossible to move the pegs a little upwards?
Or am I just too naive?
@Michael Moretti " start damaging your bike if you lean any further...." I assume you mean scraping the exhaust.
Is the peg not pretty solid? If you try to lean more after scraping peg, wouldn't you just push the epg into the ground and either snap it off, or lever the tires off the ground?
Learn to the the turns with the bike not ai leaned. Ive found i get better turns when i lean off the bike more and dont just slam the bike into the turns. Might mot look cool but its a whole lot better
@Michael Moretti let me introduce you to the sport cruiser
"its a much tighter turn than you should be taking at 25 mph". Proceeds to go 40 through the turn. Keep it up yam
I trust your opinions on this topic much more than other YT posters because you have been to the dark side and you have tasted that bitter fruit. I'm so glad you were able to come back from your wrecks. I've had a wreck, but it was much less severe than yours. Regardless, I don't want to repeat it and this video is a good reminder. Thank you for riding in six gar.
It's a much faster turn really.
Really refreshing to see this, as everytime i go out on a twisty road i like, there's always a crap ton of liter bikes just going way too fast lmao, kind if bittersweet that i cant go that fast. Just trying to stay safe out there
Yeah it sucks. I *want* to go fast but I don't want to die lol
I love that Yammie Noob doesn't accept failure. He tries again (and perhaps again) and gets it right. Respect!
Great video, love the safety aspect of it. Two things I would add that I believe you did not mention; 1) another reason we start the corner wide to the outside is that it gives us greater visibility to see farther ahead especially in blind corners as you were demonstrating. 2) Getting track time in is a good suggestion for guys like us who like to try to get a knee down but what would make that even better is having track riding lessons. I had a one day lesson (it was awesome!) and I'm signed up for step 2 next month, if it goes ahead (no thanks to COVID-19). Oh and a bonus point is Head Body Bike. When cornering, turn your whole head to look where you want to go, point to target with your chin don't just turn your eyes, then follow with your body and your bike will go where you are looking. If you see an obstacle such a branch on the road, quickly look away from the obstacle to where you do want to go and your trusty steed will follow your lead. Thanks Bro, keep it up.
Yammie, the best vlog I’ve seen on twisty riding. Your commentary was clear with responsible riding techniques.
You hit this one out of the park.
All good tips. I especially like the "loosen up" and "relax your eyes" parts.
The bike has gyroscopes. Tensing up means you're fighting the bike and it's natural way it can correct itself.
Also the eyes. I like to think I'm one of those Cylon Centurons from Battlestar Galactica. My eyes are always scanning from side to side: up and down one shoulder, then the othee.
This technique helps fight target fixation and fatigue. You will be amazed at how much information on road debris, critters in the ditch, etc. your brain can process. If you stare eyes WFO at one area you're missing lots of other stuff.
Great video- really refreshing to hear some honest talk about what a rider’s priorities should be on the road. Smooth and safe is fun.
Great video young man! I love and appreciate your enthusiasm and desire to share and help other riders. Riders like you are what's going to keep our sport alive and thriving. We'll see you around my friend.
Excellent video your points are right on -your eyes are the number one thing to keep you safe and you’re right, it ain’t no race track out there. Happy riding brother
Really good video Yam. I'm so glad that you made an enjoyable video for street riding. The track is another place. Thank you 😊
It's refreshing to see a riding/educational clip from you papa jam, those are some nice twisties! Keep up!
i love how you call them twisties..... here in the UK all our damn roads are like that.... couldn't build a straight road if you gave the planner a ruler
Well done youngin'. I have been following your exploits for a while now and I think this has been your greatest advice vid yet. Thank Yammy
Great job Yammie! Learned a lot from this video & it also made me feel good as a rider
who's still developing my skills to become a good & safe rider. Love the scenery in Austin, thanks dude!
Keeping things in perspective I really appreciate it, no apexing or cornering just staying safe
Top advice and so true about some of those who ride fast on the roads and are riding above their ability limits. I am going to try and ride on a track this year for def, having watched this vid. Keep them coming.
I have LOVED all of your Ducati Sled videos! Thanks for sharing!
Idk what kinda twisties you're thinking, but I find trail braking to be super useful on really narrow twisty sections in the mountains. Have had a few occasions where its saved me when some unexpected hazard appears in the middle of a tight blind corner.
Me also, new rider but have several 90 degree turns in my town, struggled with them until I began trail braking with front brake into them and gradually releasing
Great video! You can really see how light your grip is on the bars. Love the DS!
Thanks Yam..got a 650 ninja in southern Thailand need to keep your eyes open over here for sure..being the most dangerous country to take a road on. I literally pray to God each time I go out..
You could maybe do a vid on how to group ride? Distancing, staying in view, coms, signalling, loosing the others etc
Your vision on riding is just spot on man!
Sound advice, Pappa Yam. Almost makes me want to sell the Ninja 400 I bought less than a year ago and go back to dirt riding. There’s just nowhere to ride off road around here anymore. You’re totally right about everything you say here, most importantly, the street is no place to play around. Thanks for reminding us to stay safe and if we want to ride like we’re on a race track, go to a race track. I hope to have my first track day this summer. Stay safe to enjoy riding for a long time.
No man this makes too much sense I’m going to be like MaxWrist! How else am I going to lowside or better yet highside due to rabbit shit or coyote piss in the corners.
Thank you so much for putting this video up! After watching this video I just became a better rider :) You are really awesome 👍
I just recently got my own bike in the ATX area and have ridden this road many times. It's interesting to see his take on this road as it is very similar to mine. So often I have to wave by liter bikes so they get in front of me. Never be afraid to ride your own ride, let them get in front and dont feel the pressure to ride as well as them. It's a fun experience regardless of how fast you take this trail. It's absolutely gorgeous so take in the views when you can.
Appreciate a lot if you keep it short, to the point and not sound like a rant :)
I'd just like to add one more pre-ride consideration. State of mind. I know that kinda sounds like a no brainier. However, personally I love to sometimes ride to relieve stress. That being said if you're stressed, agitated, mad, etc that WILL come thru in your riding and can cost you dearly.
Very true!!
After your last experience with the 675R, I was hoping this would be the advice to riders. Congrats on learning from a mistake and helping others realize that it's not a race. :) I ride specifically to get away from the rat race and just enjoy life outside for a while.
Clicks on vid of papa Yam preaching how to handle the twisties
*excitement intensifies*
Realizes Yammie lives in Texas
*moderates expectations*
Watching this before I take off to the Malibu mountains with a couple of friends I will be riding my own ride but love this info thanks yammie
I’ve been riding on the streets since 1972. This is one of your very best videos!!! I also enjoy when you talk through your track riding!
Excellent video and sensibly articulated. Know your limits and ride in it. Use your head not the throttle.
New rider here, and I really appreciate your mindset.
Nice to hear you quote Michael Neeves of MCN again! Here across the pond he is a very much respected rider. Did you meet him when you came to the UK? Thank you and your team for all your videos!
Love your videos man🔥
Nice LCR video. I met you the other day at the LCR Shell Station when you were on your ducati. I was the guy with the SV650.
being home i watched the twist of the wrist ITs Just AWESOME clean made perfection told it really made me think about my riding even that being a scooter ssly. now i am much more eager to buy a bike than anything else 😬😬
Thoroughly Relevant and Very Informative Video..Goes to Show Someone with Access to Track days although with a Relatively short time on Bike Can be 10 times Better than someone who has ridden many years..As for your lack of Appreciation of HD , we all have our Individual Preference ,,I love and Appreciated All bikes myself..
That’s a awesome road, I lived not that far from there, I just went for a ride today on it, for the 1st time on my CBR 600RR, was nervous for the 1st few minutes then relaxed and was just flowing thru the turns.
I don't care if you go to jail or everyone hates you because I will always support you no matter what.
So, a few years ago, I was on a local favorite road, Indiana 66 between Canelton and Corydon. Admittedly I was pushing harder than I should going into a downhill left hander. Came off the brakes, turned in and low sided. Fortunately, I was lucky and no serious injury and only damaged the tank, but man what a wicked bruise on my thigh. I did learn my lesson, though. I don't push near as hard now. I want to get a 500-650 for track. I for sure don't need a liter- bike.
Thank you for the message in this video. The 1 road i ride a LOT claims a lot of bikes and lives through a year due to people not knowing the road or the hazard spots. Te first time i rode Lime Creek it was at what felt like a snails pace. Your skill and the camera are deceptive in showing how tight those curves really are. Austins roads have tighter turns than we have in Montgomery county.
nice bike nice road nice view, i love the sound of your motorcycle
Cold and rainy here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, just glad it's not quite snow. But, it nice to see someone else riding the curves in the warmth. I can only throw another log on the fire and dream.
Isn't it lovely when Yammie noob uploads.
Thank you for saying, trail braking is a track thing. Good video overall, more like this please!
I just bought my first bike today! A 2008 Kawasaki er6n (650cc) and I love it. It’s so much faster than my old 50cc scooter xD. I just installed a Leovince slip on exhaust without db killer And it sounds so good now. The bike even backfires and make popping sounds when I downshift!!
Excellent video! Thanks bro!!
so many good points...
helps a lot of newbies like me
Hey there papa yam
I've been following you since before the hentai hornet and just wanted to thank you for all this time of making me laugh and teaching me about motorcycles.
Today I bought myself a 2015 ktm duke 390 which is my very first bike.
You are a great guy and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos☺️
I just got back on a bike after 10 years and im really glad to have it back in my life. Everything you said needs to really be reiterated over and over. If you want to do that dumb shit, go to a track. I was riding an R1 at 17 years old and ive seen my friends die for doing dumb shit. Hope everyone rides safe out there!
Great video. I've been riding for a year and change, so just long enough to think I can keep up with my dad on his muscle cruisers. Every time I think I can follow him into a turn at speed, I nearly shit my pants go into a mild panic when the peg scrapes. Talk about a tight jaw...
Yammie, Ducati scrambler is so underappreciated 😂😂 its beautiful bike
So you’re saying the holy prophecy of 6th gare is wrong?
How dare you deny the prophecy!
Also I’m sorry if I overuse this meme but I want to give yammie 2nd degree CZcams poisoning to go with his 2nd degree discord poisoning.
Legit watched this and it put me to sleep. Probably because of Papa yams soothing voice. Time to try and watch it again.
Very true 👍! ALWAYS check the condition of the field before going full 'Busa!
I have started to watch you videos religiously because I want to get into riding and find the right bike for me thank you for your sharing your knowledge and wisdom and many safety tips. PS. I'm only 15
Yammy growing up. Safty>fast on the streets. Good boy 🤗
5 years on a bike and 45 track days and he's a self proclaimed expert, ok.I guess I'm a super expert, very cool!!
Great video!
12:03 "it's a much tighter turn than you should take at 25MPH" as he takes the turn at 30-35MPH, lol.
This video has given the best advice I have seen on twisty public roads. If you want to race go to the track.
Youre right i was gonna watch ari's new maintenance vid but am watching this first
Awesome man. I like the twisties
Respect 💪🏽
I love lime creek rd! On of my favorite rides. You should come down to Canyon Lake and ride the back bone with a few of us
So what happens when you come off a circular off ramp only to find out the cars in front of you are backed up at a light far enough that you need to stop mid corner. Trail braking comes in handy in those situations.
Do more of these!
Front brake control. (Trail Braking) this way when you really have to brake using progressive brake pressure it’s natural because you do it all the time.
great video & content I feel is lacking enough of on CZcams
you need to come to Australia and ride the black spur road, in Victoria!
Great vid!
Big dirt bikes are big fun in the twisties, as you demonstrate here.
A+++ Thank You Yammie 👍👍
great video and explanation 👌
could even be the best because of the facts on how anyone should be driving 👌
Main rule for riding twisty roads: NEVER go faster than the distance you can see to brake in!
I like your Desert Sled , it's a good looking bike.
Great advice bud!!!! You should link this to every MaxWrist video. I hate seeing those poor slobs that try to ride with that guy.
GREAT video!!!!!
I would like to hear a discussion and review on airbag safety vests like the Helite vest.
ur a very nice rider. reminded of a lot of good points here.
but like to trail-brake, as well as any other kind of braking, on the street hah
This vid needs more views!
Gotta love seeing COCO’s and LCR
Holy crap, I didnt know you were in Austin. I rode lime creek a few weeks ago just to get out of the house haha
Lime Creek Rd. is awesome! I ride it every time I’m down in Austin!
great vid thanks for downplaying the street rossi bros
Quite sensible lesson. Ride to have fun not to prove to anyone or worst yet to yourself.
"Ride your ride."
That was refreshing to hear
0:07 Jokes on you, I picked all of them. I have been sitting here for hours, instead of doing homework
"Twisty roads"... "hard corners"... aka gentle sweepers if you live in switzerland
I live in a mountainous region of california and yam's road looks like the regular roads we use to get to the real twisties here too ;p
Same here in New Zealand
Hani au dänkt :D
