    But yeah, very nice. Very cool. Thanks.

    What's stopping a player from attacking the opponent's horse with either cannon on the first turn besides the obvious response with a chariot?

    • @XiangqiChineseChess
      @XiangqiChineseChess  Před rokem +2

      Great question! The strength of the cannon and horse in xiangqi is influenced by the number of pieces on the board, as cannon needs for a mount to capture, while the horse can be blocked. Consequently, the cannon is stronger with more pieces on the board, and the horse is weaker. During the opening phase, where there are more pieces on the board, the cannon is more valuable than the horse. Conversely, in the endgame, the horse becomes more valuable. Therefore, it is not advisable to exchange your cannon for the opponent's horse in the opening.

    trying to learn xiangqi strategy is hard when in Chess it's the exact opposite lol!

    • @XiangqiChineseChess
      @XiangqiChineseChess  Před rokem +1

      The different piece moves and board setup take some getting used to. But once you immerse yourself in xiangqi for a bit, the logic starts to click. Keep at it, don't get discouraged, and have fun experimenting with new tactics. You'll get the hang of it before you know it! Xiangqi is a fantastic game that's worth learning.

    how is stalemate created? because if no one wins we all win

    • @somethingcomedy9437
      @somethingcomedy9437 Před 9 měsíci

      the one who gets stalemated is counted as a loss in xiangqi, unlike chess.

    if you don't explain the meaning behind the moves, this is kind of pointless except as an exercise for the viewer to try to figure out the meanings. However, that might be out of reach of a beginner.....

    Western-style piece images. Give me a break! If you couldn't be bothered to learn a few Chinese characters, just go back to chess, would you?
