Will do after you rank vikavolt 😂
Vikavolt is definitely new for Teal Mask. Show him some respect.
i love cramorant
-S tier
I love cramorant
-A tier
I love cramorant
-D tier (wait what?!)
personaly, i disagry with kommo.O i saw the tournament you played with him, it should have been A tier.
Love how you already said in the stream that vikavolt isn’t new
Fun fact: at least on showdown, switching neutralizing gas weezing in and out will reactivate embody aspect
Uh oh
+2 or more Hearthflame Mask with all attacking moves or three with Spiky Shield/Synthesis/Taunt/Encore in the sun...
*frantically hops on showdown to ruin the game*
It was the same with zacian in gen 8 I believe, that should be accurate to the actual game
Yeah that sounds about right, like in SwSh if Wheezing fainted Regigigas would have Slow Start activate so it should be the same for any ability that activates on entry provided that ability works multiple times
Another thing that the two generation 3 fireflies get is prankster encore, which along with tailwind makes both a really gimmicky version of a Whimsicott.
Theyre just whimsical little fireflies :)
and t wave
I subscribed to you cause I love piplup❤❤❤
Their prankster movepool as good as whimsicott, nd have almost exact same stats as whimsicott. They just lack the fairy typing and don't hit as hard as Whimsicott. Also, whims kills shifu, which is super useful.
A big one though is that Volbeat doesnt get Fake Tears to remove resistances to special attackers and Illu does
in the same vein Illumise also gets charm and volbeat doesnt
but volbeat gets taunt and tail glow+bpass
Rip Vikavolt, “faster than a fighter plane” in the Pokédex, slower than a Purugly
They were inside Trick Room when they wrote that entry.
If you think that's bad, Vikavolt is a whole 3 base points slower than its own first stage evolution Grubbin lol (43 and 46 respectively)
Okay but 140 spa is insane just run it in trick room
"Slower than Purugly"
The bar was too high.
I mean so are the Lati twins. Not really very indicative of how slow it really is
I forgot to add chandelure and most importantly, the meta defining MAGCARGO to the list, which would have EASILY been S Rank
Thoughts on where he put crawdaunt?
@@sui.4935 vgc 🤷♂️
This guy is so funny
Facts
Dang how can you forget the greatest snail of all time
Upset that whoever made this tier list forgot my favorite guy Chandelure lmao
I’ve seen so many of these lists where Chandelure is always the only one not mentioned and I don’t know why lmao
Gliscor placement is so funny to me as a singles player. Gliscor is one of the best pokemon in competitive singles right now. Its the one pokemon that makes protect actually a good option
You'll notice that the three prominent mons he mentions it struggles with (Urshifu, Flutter Mane, and Chien-Pao) are all banned in singles
@@whygodwhy8463smogon doesnt count only nintendo
@@whygodwhy8463 gliscor still does extremely well in UBERs. 125 base defense and an electric immunity is not something to scoff at.
@@KonkyDonk
Yeah, swords dance toxic heal is a menace. Thing takes forever to shut down unless you specifically bring it's counters or just overwhelm it with force and numbers.
Sadly, in VGC, where Chien Pao and Flutter Mane are both top 5 in usage. It struggles a lot.
@@Endershock1678 thats what im saying. The irony.
Politoad lost scald but still has Weather Ball which is 100BP Water move in rain. Toad hits sneaky hard
i know i'm a troll using belly drum, liquidation, helping hand and icebeam, but now i feel i have evolved into something even more "special"
I was so hung up on trying to utilize Technician with Fez I didn't think of simply being THICC and poisoning everyone. Good shout, Wolfe
Volbeat and Illumise are going to get a ton of action because they're both Great Vaule Whimsicott
I don't think they'll get a ton of usage, just some bc they have more niche moves. I think most of the time whimsicott is good bc it's the best priority tailwind setter at the time, but we already have tornadus. If a regulation ends up dropping in power level to just paldea and dlc mons then I can see them getting more use, and I'm sure in general they can do decently on more gimmicky teams, but as it stands I doubt they'll be used much
@@cornonjacob Tornadus is better because it can actually attack and take a hit. The bugs have just dumpster stats but they have a TON of utility. Just take a peak at their movepools. I bet they'll pop up on a couple top 32 teams
@@James.Hill. their kit could counter Tornadus pretty hard, specially if you use the Trick + Lagging Tail tech, one of my favorites and the reason why I trashed on the fast sweepers back in gen 7. The only issue I see with that speciffic tech is that I belive you can't steal Ogrepon's masks, and since you can see the items of your opponent, you just have to switch into your Ogrepon to counter it, because there is no way you aren't using one
man this video really puts into perspective how deep you have to think about some pokemon
"People are sleeping on snorlax and snorlax is gonna be sleeping on them." Can I please get a t-shirt with this on it?
Since Regigigas isn't over here, we may be able to see the Slaking + Weezing combo a couple times.
Illumise actually has prankster Encore and tailwind, and with whimsicott not present it can actually fill the niche it used to. Some players have already started experimenting with it.
To bad whim comes back in December with the second dlc so illumise won't be useful for long
Not really, the best thing about Whimsicott is that it's faster than Tornadus.
Volbeat has all that plus tail glow
Never thought they'd have some kind of niche w/o them getting new evolutions.
Politoed does have access to weather ball so I don’t think it’s entirely doomed as long as you play weather properly
I could see the same thing with Ludicolo
Vikavolt was done dirty 😭
You missed Vikavolt, one of my favorite coming back, and I think it's a strong mon that benefits a lot from terastalizing, especially given its ability.
But it’s so slow
He talked about vikavolt
@@zaneheaston8254use it in trick room then
@M1sterE321 could u provide a time stamp? I missed it and it's not in the end pic
@@BugManiacRoyhe skipped Vikavolt because he doesn’t verify Info when he makes videos
Vikavolt is definitely new. Also, if being able to do one thing well is enough for C-tier, Leavanny should've been there for being a speedy web setter.
I know, i was waiting on a vikavolt rating at the end.
Webs generally aren't that useful in VGC bc there's not near as much switching and only 4 mons at a time, Leavanny is not going to exert the pressure necessary to make your opponent switch out and actually make the webs useful.
@@cornonjacob even then, its stats actually know what they want to be, unlike Pokémon like Golem and Swanna. Leavanny has a good STAB movepool and the stats to make use of them, it just has a horrible typing. But that alone still seems like C-tier material to me, especially with Tera (although I admittedly also wouldn't waste my Tera on a Leavanny - but the point is you COULD, so: C-tier).
Webs and hazards in general are bad for double, and ribombee is just better for fast webs
this is for VGC, sticky webs are almost never used in serious competitive play
Vikavolt IS in fact a new addition with the dlc and was not part of the base game
Petition to buff arbok
Haydunn has a nice Arbok video that uses loaded dice. It’s a fun set that you can have a little success with until they hopefully buff him one day.
Wolfey, furret has Tidy Up now, which I think is extremely powerful and I think he could see some play somewhere.
i'm ready to see the furret/clefairy core
Uh oh
Alolan Sandslash does indeed have better stats. It loses some special attack points and gets them put into its special defense.
2nd time that Wolfey thought Vikavolt was already in base game 😂😂😂😂
Arbok is one of those Pokémon that I've wanted to get a good buff for like 20 years now. It was part of OG team rocket, how you gonna keep it weak?
When it gets a regional form
Arbok needs an evolution/mega evolution to make it part dragon.
I personally think that a Ghost/Poison evolution of Arbok would be cool. Either have Arbok die like Primeape or just have Arbok shed its skin and have a ghost possess the corpse/skin. The hood could be the actual face of the Pokemon.
@@Frog_Dogger not a bad idea. Like a snake version of Shedinja. It would be a great excuse to FINALLY give something else Wonder Guard, thereby giving Arbok a really good defensive niche as a strong wall that not only cannot be hit by most attacking moves but can’t be poisoned either. Shedinja can easily be worn down by status such as poisoning but that wouldn’t affect a ghostly poison ‘mon like the Arbok line
its weak because it was part of the OG team rocket
Good news for all Mandibuzz fans out there. It does still get the move TOXIC.
I didn't play any Pokemon since FireRed on the GBA. What brought me back recently was learning about the competitive side of the game from Wolfey's and Aaron's content. Thanks for your amazing videos! Although it hurts a bit to hear that my old friend Golem seems to have no value in VGC.
Vikavolt being completely forgettable and useless is so sad. It went to the point where wolfie even thought that it was already in the game but just not used.
I think you're sleeping on ribombee Wolfe, it's gonna be the fastest thing on the field for kitakami prologue and gets fake tears tailwind and pollen puff, not to mention is immune to fake out with shield dust
Me when arbok comes back as an intimidate taunt user being very happy only to get wombo combo'd by lando getting taunt and somehow not knowing until teal mask
Ogerpon gets S tier for being F’n adorable 🥰
Poor Vikavolt couldn’t even make it on the tier list
He kinda missed A-Ninetales' big selling point of being the fastest Imprision user, preventing an opponent from using the likes of Protect, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Psychic, Tera Blast, Foul Play or Dazzling Gleam. Something that its kanto counterpart and other Imprison users fail due to their lower speed.
I mean you can do the same with Azelf and prankster Klefki, espeon, froslass, hisui zoroark, ribombee, screamtail, fluttermane and iron valiant. All of whom are faster than a-ninetails
@@Tyufvfv Didn't know that Scream Tail had Imprison, but the whole rest are either more frail or get stopped by a Dark-type. But yeah, totally forgot about Scream Tail.
Notes: Scream Tail doesn't have Icy Wind nor Foul Play, but has something very interesting in the form of Trick Room. You can run Imprison Scream Tail to deny your opponent from setting up Trick Room, thus shutting down enemy Trick Room teams. Very interesting indeed.
@@polvocorrupto yeah uhm imprison + trick room has been a thing for a while now... most Farigarafs and some Indeedees run it
@@doobster3650 Then there is Room for something faster. (pun intended)
@@polvocorrupto with the right ev spread flutter is super bulky same with klefki (imprison isnt stopped by dark type prankster immunity)
I can confirm vikavolt exists solid a because tera electrice trick room and it all over for them also he forgot chandelure :(
Poor vikavolt being skipped like that
I’m surprised Sinischa didn’t make it to S tbh, it feels really really good
With the right moveset it can really be broken
I think it's because while it's very good, it's also a bit inconsistent with Matcha Misses and Burns, and Wolfe famously hates inaccurate moves.
"i love this pokemon so much......D tier" lmao
Wolfey's tier lists are some of my favorite content
As a Leavanny fan I think it’s hype we can change our multiple 4x weakness into resists just on our own choices. Very cool
I like to give my Leavanny Shadow Claw for Tera Ghost
While not related to competitive play, Arbok seriously needs some sort of rework to its level up movepool.
Before the mid-low 60s when it learns Gunk Shot, it only has Poison Sting as a physical STAB option. It can get Poison Jab through TM, but that doesnt help in games like USUM where that TM is in the Victory Road equivalent (where you'll probably be hitting Gunk Shot's level). Gamefreak, please give Arbok a midrange option
Just give it poison fang or cross poison via level up and good to go
It's OK for some Pokémon to just be bad.
They don't all need good moves.
@@andy4anIt's not a case of being good or bad, not having access to moves of it's own type until the late/end-game is just horrible game design.
@@TheCam920 when there are hundreds of Pokémon, you can afford to make a few bad on purpose for the people that like bad Pokémon
@@andy4an Did you read my comment or just assume I am anti-bad Pokémon? Not giving a poison type access to poison attacks until early 60s is bad game design.
Imagine being a child and choosing Arbok because you saw it on the TV show, and wondering when it learns something other than poison sting. It's not just a "bad Pokémon" it's bad game design.
Leavanny isn't dog water :( it gets Chlorophyll and can be a decent sun abuser. It's main problem is it's typing, which is fixable with Tera. I don't think it'll be good, but I think it could be a C tier.
i was in awe when i found out they didnt give it solar blade
Wolfey saying "Superb Owl" brings me an unreasonable amount of joy
I'm currently running a slush rush team with A-Sanslash and she's an awesome revenge killer surprising enough. Is super bulky with assault vest and the Steele typing is used as a pretty decent pivot for the rest of the team
“I think people are sleeping on Snorlax and Snorlax is sleeping on them.”
That’s not foreshadowing anything…
Great video. Love my Vessis by the way!
Always happy to watch my favorite kind of videos.
Crawdaunt is one of the most reliable wallbreakers in singles, if we get a format in vgc focused around the likes of chansey and ferrothorn and crysellia then maybe it could shine but fast damage is more valuable than slow damage in vgc
Fast and frail damage. You can be slow damage if you can actually live hits, but crawdaunt just gets killed by pretty much everything and adaptability also sucks with tera
@@joaobrito2653isnt the thing that Adaptability sucks if you tera into a type you already are? If you Tera into something that isnt Water/Dark would you benefit in the long run
Thing is Chansey is like one of the staples of singles and has absolutely sucked ass in VGC since it's inception. Stall is just not functional in VGC, so there's no big fat walls that sit there, heal and try and win through poison, so there's no need for "wall breakers" who take advantage of that style of Pokémon
@@NeoBoneGirl you can be a wall, but you have to exert some kind of pressure. You either need to have redirection, sleep/ paralysis/ speed control or some other way of exerting pressure. Chansey goes out and does literally nothing other than clicking toxic, which is not really a viable win con in doubles
@@NeoBoneGirl that is what I am saying. Stall isn't good if it ever becomes good then the likes of cradaunt could become good
A tank shredder with no tanks is just useless
Love your stuff Wolfe!
Vikavolt is new lol
i was waiting for this! World Champ Difference
Hear me out, Arbok gets a third evo in the next dlc, called Repiv. Thoughts?
🔥🔥🔥
🐍 lock it in
Call it Repives
Let the prophecy from the anime come true
No. Cobras and Vipers are different and Cobras have better toxin ie neurotoxin. Name it Arbokgnik or something.
Milotic sadly does not get muddy water anymore 😭😭😭
Poor Vikavolt got exluded
I would love to see a video detailing the best tera types for the 'mon returning to the game through the DLC.
i think a team with dipplin and sun could make it a solid choice tbh
Today is a weird day, 3rd video in a row I‘m catching in the 1st minute it came out by randomly refreshing ^^
I ran into someone using Weezing and Toedscruel, and let me say, that was the most anxious 6 turns of my life. Without Toes’ ability, it becomes the fastest user of Spore without setup and Weezing covers for any grass types that try to sponge it.
Dipplin can hold eviolite so it can be very bulky and has recover
So i think it will be hard to defeat in competitive
It's more of a sitting duck and with Ogerpon it ain't going to survive. not to mention tht Kommo-o is popular now.
it's also worth noting that dipplin also gets sticky hold, so if you're running that its eviolite can't be knocked off
You probably know this already but Dipplin can also hold eviolite for some reason.
I've been smashing games with Prankster Illumise. Tailwind, Helping Hand, U-Turn, Thunder Wave. People don't expect it, it's fun.
19:46 People love Crawdaunt because it was like a Knockoff Azumarril that didn’t require any setup out the gate with Adaptability Life Orb Aqua Jets, Knock Off, and Superpower. Unfortunately as you mentioned, it’s just way too frail.
Volbeat and Illumise are pretty good imo. Tailwind, Encore and Taunt make them very annoying to play around.
I also like to use Lunge as my last move to annoy physical attackers
They get thunder wave too
Oh yeah, that too
They actually, finally remembered they gave those two dudes Prankster and went from there to buff them to a usable level with status moves.
@@bluebaron6811 I shiny hunted an Illumise the other day, after realizing I had an outbreak, guess it wasn't a waste of time, I literally only did so because I already had a shiny Noibat (now Noivern) and that was the only other outbreak that wasn't Clefairy/Cleffa in Kitakami
Bruh i wanted bred illumise shiny with comptitive ivs and prankster. Because i didnt know the randomness of Volbeat egg
Keep up the great content Wolf 🤟🏾
Kommo -o + life dew clefairy is really fun, it is quite decent at playing slow and setting kommo-o up to beat trick room. Started with tera steel, but ended up on Tera fire because I kept ending up in tricky spots vs flutter+chi-yu
Yes alolan sandslash has the same stat total as its kanto counter part but alolan sandslash has the best spread compared to its counter part. For example its special attack went from 45 to 25

I think a very positive thing that Empoleon has going for it is it can use Water pledge for a 80bp consistent water move, and kinda niche but it apparently ignores storm drain redirection for some reason?
Edit: I didn't realise Water Pledge was 80bp not 100, (I misread a post) Water Pledge is technically your best single target move but like. At 80bp, it's not breaking any records. Still not bad tho with a real valuable niche
It's 80bp
Oh that's my bad, I thought I saw a post on twitter saying 100bp and just believed it
Wolfe Glick seriously said Steel is a better offensive type than Ground.
Steel hits flutter mane and chien pao, and the meta is full of grass types and ground immune Pokémon, so while ground is usually better steel is very strong in this current vgc meta
Kantonian Ninetales has a pretty diverse movepool. It just can't fully take advantage of it.
d(r)ipplin can wear an eviolite, because of code stuff with it getting an evo next dlc and use recover, works pretty well for me
Sticky hold for eviolite too
Please consider Dipplin to lower evasion + Milotic with Hypnosis and Muddy Water
When Vikavolt didn't get ranked even tho it was new to SV
Cant believe he didn’t rank my man vikavolt…
Water-pon spammin wood hammer next to a water tera politoad launchin off surfs has been pretty rad, mostly heals up ogrepon while layin down decent damage on the other side. Not optimal by any means, but pretty fun imo
Also for Ogerpon there’s a huge difference between tour and ladder. In the ladder you have to guess the form off the team composition which means you could make the team misleading while in tours you will bow what form it has
Vikavolt is new…
Literally just went looking for a video on the new DLC mons only to find it had just been uploaded 😂
I have decided that I want to start finding random videos about competitive Pokémon and share ideas of abilities and moves that I made up in hopes that maybe I could be responded by one of the creators. We’ll start with the ability Separate Reality
Separate Reality will cause the Pokémon to ignore Light Screen, Reflect, Pokemon under a substitute, Trick room, Wonder room, Magic room, Alley Switch, and Skill swap . It would be for either and Mythical, or a Pokémon with 490 BST for Balance. The description would be “ the user has its own Reality so Reality swapping effect wouldn’t effect its own Reality. What do you think? Should it effect more, less? Is it good, bad? Tell me what you think
VGC ain’t ready for scale shot coil Arbok 🔥🔥🔥
Empolein doesn't get access to scalp true but it does get Water pledge which is a nice 100acc 80 power move. So it at least has a stable water move.
W vid this will help a lot with team building
Shocked to see gliscor so low
been messing around on low ladder with a team that has munkidori, ursaluna and gliscor, using munkidori sludge wave to activate guts/poison heal as well as dealing out like 30% on most neutral hits and just poisoning everything. it's not suuuuper effective, but it's really funny when it works, and it works more often than you'd expect
Can we have a cuteness tier list as well?
Great Video!
I actually used leavanny with Groudon to boost its speed with a nature that boosts speed and lowers attack with Choice Specs/Wise Glasses to boost sp. attack, with energy ball, bug buzz, Tera blast water, and air slash? I believe that’s it’s name, (can flinch), and was actually amazing, it had chlorophyll so it was really fast. I personally would put it at least A tier because it has good strats and if you use Tera water you can get rid of the 4x fire and 4x flying to a 2x resistance and neutral resistance to flying.
Hey wolf, politoed gets weather ball which is 100 percent accurate and has 100 base power AND gets stab from rain
Peobably the most important thing of both Weezing forms is how they undo the nerfs of Slaking and Regigigas, both of which base stat totals of 670.
if Ogerpon would have has Close combat, the rock ogerpon would be especially powerful as you can use the move to reduce your defenses and get your sturdy to proc, giving an extra turn
Yeah, I've found Sturdy kinda worthless. There aren't many things in the meta actually activating it assuming you EV'd anything into defenses, and even if you don't, it's still rare.
why would you invest EVs into defense? you EV invest into attack and speed, even with rock mask@@Endershock1678
