    @pokatana4130 Před rokem +187

    Yeah. I’m a Hisuian Samurott advocate. It’s not the worst mon competitively. It does put in work. You did look at the wrong stat spread for Hisuian Samurott as it has 108 att and 85 speed at the cost of losing some bulk. But, I agree that B tier is reasonable. I’d rank it low A if psychic teams become popular.

    • @snorp_lord6141
      @snorp_lord6141 Před rokem +4

      Honestly, with the amount of psychic types running around (Armarouge, Indeedee), as well as Flutter Mane? Plus being immune to taunt right when Incinerator is poised to return and Murkrow's been so present? I can absolutely see Samurott's dark typing alone making it useful.

    • @lovelyluna733
      @lovelyluna733 Před rokem +2

      I think it's main issue is that it has so much dark and Water type competition that it makes it hard to slot. It's a solid pokemon but we have Chien Pao and the other ruins, the Urshifus, Goltress, Basculegion, Palafin so it does become a struggle to justify using it over them. It has potential because spikes can be stacked and sharpness makes up for the attack stat, you're using 100 BP STABs and a 135 BP Sacred Sword afterall

    • @peyton.york513
      @peyton.york513 Před rokem +1

      @@lovelyluna733 Scarf and sash sets on Samu are insane tbh. The ability to have big power in its attacks due to sharpness, plus great overall moves in Sacred Sword, X-Scissor, Knock Off, AJ, Aqua Cutter, and the best move of all Ceaseless Edge. Plus for sash sets, you have SD to boost STAB Aqua Jet & Sucker Punch. It’s a very high ceiling mon.

    • @lovelyluna733
      @lovelyluna733 Před rokem +1

      @Peyton York yes those moves can output a good amount of damage, 100 BP STABs and 130 BP coverage, but you're being compared to Chien Pao, who with Sword of Ruin basically has an attack stat of 170. It's hard to pass up the thing
      252 Atk Sword of Ruin Chien-Pao Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mew: 165-195 (48.3 - 57.1%) -- 91.8% chance to 2HKO
      252 Atk Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Aqua Cutter vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mew: 151-178 (44.2 - 52.1%) -- 16% chance to 2HKO
      It is a Feat to be comparable in damage to Chien Pao, but it still speaks to what Samu is competing with. The Urshifu's also have 110-120 BP STAB in their signature move and close combat along with a higher attack stat (130 vs 108). And they don't even use their ability to actually have decent STABs because they already do, unseen fist is easily the most broken thing in the game. And when you SD, you're acting like a worse Urshifu. (Lower hp, lower attack, lower Def, relative SpD, slower, lacking in ability).
      It's not bad or anything, sure, but it has so much competition it can't keep up with, Hence people don't use it often. OU really shows you what it can do when it's competition is banned (albeit, hazards are major there)

  • @vicksin
    @vicksin Před rokem +119

    Hi Wolfe! You actually missed a super important part of the Genie's Storm moves (I don't blame you, it's kind of a hidden mechanic) - they don't check accuracy in rain.
    That's right, Tornadus the monster that it is, has 100% accurate 100bp spread move with a 30% chance to lower speed for each pokemon.
    Thundurus gets a 10bp weaker spread version of Thunder with a 20% chance to para each Pokemon
    Lando gets a 100bp ground spread move boosted even further by sheer force life orb, or with a 20% chance to burn each pokemon if you run Sand Force instead
    I'm not too sure about Lando, I could see it maybe working in some situations, but both Tornadus and Thundurus sound terrifying in rain now, especially with Prankster Rain Dance

    Something Wolfe seemed to discount or miss was that 3 of the 4 genie signature moves- wildbolt storm, sandsear storm, and bleakwind storm, all have 100% accuracy in rain. Why landorus' has 100% accuracy in Rain we will never know, but it has rain synergy now which helps with the steel and electric types rain can struggle with. Combine that with the other 2 genies and you have a pretty respectable rain team built without using any water types, leaving you free to add one or two such as Urshifu-R or Basculegion, and you could even potentially run Ursaluna with some speed EVs to make it function in tailwind instead of lando-I.
    Lando-T will literally face competition from itself.

    Hi, i am sneazler’s avocado.
    I just want to make everyone see that he is super effective against all A and S tier mons.
    He has very good coverage and close combat+dire claw+acrobatics is not resisted by any type. Witch makes place for fake-out, a really good move, especially for your lead.
    And ladies and gentlemen, you are gonna lead this thing
    Altough you may think his biggest strengh is his coverage, you are wrong. His biggest strengh is the combo between his ability, a forgoten gen 9 item and a forgoten gen 9 Pokemon. I am talking about unburden, mirror herb and scovilain. Unberden makes a Pokemon insanely fast when it loses or uses his item. Wolf is talking about focus sash, but i got even better: mirror herb. Mirror herb is USED when an ennemy gets a buff, and it copies said buff. Now you might say: But why, random human being, would i base my strat on the enemies team?
    Thats the neat part, you dont.
    Because scovilain exists with his demed bad signature move: spicy extract. This move BUFFS a Pokemon’s attack but lowers his defense. Every one was shiting on this move, but i saw his potential: use it on a enemy. The enemy is debuffed, and if you have mirror herb on one of your Pokemon, HE gets the buff. Do you see de vision? You make your sneazler slightly slower than scovilain ( his speed is doubling anyway ) and Target the same Pokemon with your attacking sneazler move and your spicy extract.
    Sneazler now has double speed, double attack, buffed acrobatics and a free kill since the enemy has no defence. You can now sweep, using your scovilain as an Amoonguss-like with rage powder and helping hand.
    Ps: use flying tera for sneazler, it negates the ground weakness and buffs acrobatics

    - H-Goodra to A (incredible anti-meta pick, Acid Armor set is a great wincon)
    - Regidrago to A (I'm not kidding, it's INSANE. I haven't used it, but it's always so scary to face. Tera Dragon Dragon Energy hits so hard and now it gets Earth Power for coverage)

    this really helped me get a grasp on the new mons, so thank you!! wonderful as always. some thoughts from poking around in team builder:
    fake out priority on rillaboom and sneasler gonna be huge in setting up tailwind/trick rooms, and i foresee covert cloak, mental herb, ghost/dark tera being very common for turn 1.
    frisk wyrdeer skill swapping guts off ursaluna (or intimidate with a competitive mon?) i think its utility is gonna be its big selling point lowkey. confuse ray/thunder wave rng, disable, screens or helping hand if you want, and psyshield bash giving you defense to outlast ursa/physicals, and ghost tera sounds super sweet to get around the facades/close combats (especially if you end up skill swapping cresselia's levitate, so ursa's EQs hit it too.) also rillaboom's knock off could just stop guts before it gets outta hand potentially.
    galar articuno getting access to both tailwind and trick room AND imprison. not sure how reliable it would be, but i imagine being able to deny trick room while still having tailwind or being able to trick room when someone else tailwinds has a lot of value.
    normal tera regieleki, max speed/atk, adamant nature, normal gem explosions. also why i think protect will still be meaningful even when urshifu exist.
    prankster rain dance is gonna be very common with the +accuracy to storm moves, so i think running other weather specifically to counter (prankster sunny day for example) could really throw a wrench in some plans. alternatively, wide guard. sadly only hisu avelugg is the newest with it. however, thats exactly the type of mon i think would pair well with galar articuno bc of its middling speed. you could trick room against fast teams, and imprison trick room VS actual trick room teams.
    sadly you cant run assault vest on hisu avelugg if you run wide guard. i think it needs assault vest to even be usable honestly, which also means no protect. also shout out to wind rider brambleghast.
    anywho im excited to see what all happens! i think we are gonna see a HUGE drop in ground types effectiveness due to all the flying types. i also think this will mean amoonguss wont be as popular, which i think will eventually mean that water tera becomes the new grass tera, which will also give electric some much needed usefulness being able to hit all the new flying mons + defensive water tera's.

    0:00 To be fair some of those Pokemon could be really nice in like mid-tiers, but you have to waste Tera on some of them. Like Arcanine and Avalugg especially need that simpler typing.
    6:10 Samurott's, Kleavor's and Sneasler's signature moves were incorrectly marked as high-crit ratio moves. They did announce they gonna fix it.
    20:25 There is no Tapu Koko, but Miraidon is in. Even if only in some game modes. Raichu is still bad, but you know - there may be some crazy gimmick that people would use, I guess.
    20:50 SV is Dark Type infested. Prankster is actually way weaker in this gen, because of that. Not to mention all the plethora anti-status abilities introduced this gen.
    34:10 Regieleki will be gross.
    38:10 Any Pokemon can now wield Ice type Tera Blast. Tera Landorus could counter it, but I think it will be way weaker than usual. Especially as we have more things that work against Intimidate and also not many Pokemon that are super weak against ground, flying or rock. It's still will be disgusting, but I don't see it doing as good as previously. Especially as we do have a lot of high damage attackers. Palafin, Flutter Mane, even Dondozo do good against it. And the new move doesn't buff it as much as those do for other djinns.
    40:20 From illegal Pokemon - at least for Smogon definitely Mew, Calyrex and Magearna will be pretty disgusting with Tera mechanics. Volcanion is now the only Scald user, Hoopa could also get a lot from Tera typing.

    I'll just mention some of the mons that i think are interesting. These are all "new" new pokemon that haven't been in any competitive scenes yet (excluding Galarian Slowbro).
    I think Hisuian Goodra is an ESSENTIAL part of a Trick Room team, it's so bulky that it essentially acts as a wall in the battle that can constantly fire off damage with Dragon Pulse, Flash Cannon and the occasional Flamethrower or Thunderbolt. All in all a 7/10.
    I feel like Hisuian Arcanine is better than it looks, with STAB Rock Head Flare Blitzes and Head Smashes as well as help from Extreme Speed, it could be an offensive powerhouse. I'd say it's a 6.5/10.
    Sneasler could be a super speedy and strong physical attacker, with Unburden adding some interesting options. For example, you could use Fake Out with Normal Gem and get the speed boost, or, a common strategy, you could give it a White Herb to reset your stats from Intimidate or the Close Combat defense drops. That, combined with an 80 BP STAB move with essentially a secondary Effect Spore in Dire Claw, could be a great attacker, and pick up some clutch sleep or paralysis when it's in a tough position. 6/10 seems fair.
    Overqwil is one of my favorite Hisuian pokemon, and it seems like a decently good bulky attacker. Dark/Poison is a great type combo, especially with strong Water type attacks to take care of the Ground types that hit it for super effective, and its high defenses combined with Intimidate and a possible Assault Vest would make it very difficult to take out. It's also got access to some great non-STAB moves thanks to Qwilfish's previous Water type like Liquidation and Aqua Jet. It seems good but not great. 5/10 for this one.
    Hisuian Lilligant is a fun pick. With a physical version of Quiver Dance (or if you prefer, a Dragon Dance that also boosts Defense or a Bulk Up that also boosts speed) and Chlorophyll with a high speed stat, this thing can outspeed a lot of other pokemon and deal out good damage. The problem is that it's Grass/Fighting which is not a good typing. With five weaknesses and a 4x weakness to flying, if Lilligant can't OHKO whatever it's facing down it's in serious danger. I'm only giving it a 4/10 because of this.
    Kleavor is a fun pokemon. With a Bug/Rock typing, which isn't amazing but also isn't too bad, the ability Sharpness (a new ability that boosts the power of cutting moves) and a signature move that A. does decent damage B. gets boosted by Sharpness and C. puts up Stealth Rocks, it's up in the air as to whether it will be good or not. As Wolfe mentioned, lots of things are vulnerable to stealth rocks with a weak typing or a Focus Sash. I'm still not sure about this pokemon, but I'll give it a 6/10.
    Galarian Slowbro, Ursaluna and Enamorus-Therian, again, are all AMAZING Trick Room pokemon, with super strong attacks like Guts Facade, Dazzling Gleam and Shell Side Arm respectively. I'll go over each of them a bit.
    Ursaluna is TURBO busted. MASSIVE Attack and HP, really low speed for Trick Room, the obviously great Guts ability, and has great moves to utilize like Guts boosted Facade and the new Headlong Rush. Easy 10/10.
    Enamorus-Therian seems really good in Trick Room, with an incredibly low speed stat and super high special attack, it can dish out some serious damage with Dazzling Gleam and Mystical Fire. It earns a good 9/10.
    I'm a believer in Galarian Slowbro. With balanced attack and special attack, your opponent won't know which attack stat you specialize in. I think most would run towards the special end, as Psychic and coverage moves like Dazzling Gleam and Flamethrower are generally better than Zen Headbutt and coverage of Waterfall and Drain Punch. Psychic/Poison is a pretty good typing, only being weak to Dark, Ghost and Ground, letting Slowbro throw around a lot of strong attacks. This might be controversial, but I'm giving it an 8/10.
    That's all the mons that I wanted to cover. Hope you agree with me, but if you have some other ideas feel free to let me know!
    why did i do this
