Our very own knowledgeable buyer, Will, takes you through what he thinks are the best features of The North Face Rolling Thunder 30" Wheeled Luggage.
The Rolling Thunder 30" from The North Face is a hardy and durable piece of luggage that will withstand the roughest of handlers.
While it is made with high denier fabrics for excellent durability it also has plastic bumpers at points of high wear for futher abrasion resistance. It has a perforated back panel which helps to reduce the weight without sacrificing the strength of the bag while coated daisy chains on the sides of the bag make for durable lash points when strapping it together with other luggage or onto your transportation. There is an extendable luggage handle with patented side release buttons to make for easy pulling when using the wheels to help you glide through the crowd struggle-free.
Access to the bag is via a large zip open lid and there is a seperate zipped compartment for dirty clothes or shoes. A sherpa strap on the top of the bag allows you to strap a smaller backpack or duffel securely onto the luggage for your convenience. An internal split mesh pocket allows you to keep smaller things accessible and organised and there are also two external zipped pockets on the face of the bag to help keep you organised and a die cut EVA ID window so that you can put your name and address on just in case it goes missing enroute.

Hi there, I'm Will,
I'm the buyer for Cotswold Outdoor,
and I'm here at our head office in Kemble
and I'm going to run you through today.
The inch North Face Rolling
Thunder luggage bag.
So the Rolling Thunder utilises the
the infamous base camp duffel
fabric on the top, which is a D fabric
with a TPU coating on the top.
Makes it really burly durable.
This is the same sort of fabric
that they use in their expedition duffels,
one of which I have one.
I've had it since I was ,
and it's really durable and it's
still going strong.
Now on the bottom,
you've got a really hard and durable base,
just protects all of your kit inside,
but also gives it a really good,
strong chassis for your
for your heavy duty handle,
but also for the wheels on the bottom.
The wheels themselves
are really nice and easy to fix
if they are the durable anyways.
But if you were to get a break in them,
then they're really easy
to remove with an Allen key
and then replace it with kind of other
rollers, rollerskate style style wheels.
I've never had to do that myself
because it has just been really reliable.
But I just like the fact
that it's really easy
to do any kind of field servicing
if you if you need to.
So starting from the top
or from the front, sorry, you've got a
in the lid, a nice and large
stash pocket there
where you can pop some clothes,
some soft bits there where they can afford
to take a bit of impact
because you haven't got any padding there.
So soft and forgiving stuff in there,
like jackets or clothing
is a really good place to put.
On the side. You've
got a really nice compartment
for any smelly boots or shoes
or your dirty clothes.
So you've got a totally separate
compartment there.
So again, you can keep it
nice and separate
from all your clean stuff on the inside.
Or if you've got any sharp kits as well,
you can put it in there. - Sport
Fantastic review. Seriously, one of the best I've seen for products like this.
I have the 22 and it’s incredibly reliable and I can wipe it down after trips. Water proof in the rain which is great. I’m ordering the 30 based on my experience and this review.
So helpful, thank you for this!
Very good review
I have two of these - the 22 and the 30, and they're both wonderful, bomb-proof bags. Given the choice, I usually take this over my leather weekender bag simply because of its ease of use, durability and that it makes a wonderful seat when waiting for a lift.
Can you take either as a carry on?
I need to buy this bag
I just bought this I hope it doesn’t get damaged in travel fingers crossed
Hey, I have a couple 74cm long light stands I would love to put in one of these, you think they would fit?
You’re stood in a field. How are you carrying it around off road? Does it have longer straps/handles?
What’s your thoughts on this compared to the north face long haul 30?
Can I use it as a carry on?
Really wish the 36 would have a pull out grab handle
It’s too tall for one, but yes me too
