This reminds me of the time many years ago when my husband and I were driving over the Cascade Mountains from western to eastern Washington to attend a concert. My husband’s car was only about eight months old at the time. We had just gone over Snoqualmie pass and were in the downhill side, where you’re gradually decending about two thousand feet. I noticed the car ahead of us, which was towing a small trailer, seemed to be having some difficulty keeping the trailer straight behind him. As I pointed it out to my husband, the trailer broke free and began slowly weaving back and forth across all four lanes. This was on Interstate 90, which runs from Seattle all the way across the country to Boston and the speed limit is 70mph. My husband kept back for awhile and eventually the trailer crossed in front of us again and came to a stop in the median. The driver of the vehicle towing it hadn’t noticed it at first and then he was trying to slow down and get behind it. This was so long ago that cellphones didn’t have video, otherwise it would have been a good one!

Proof some old cars were better. My mom loaded 3/4 of a ton of concrete into a Pinto station wagon and drove home across a 7 mile bridge and 10+ miles of highway. Yes it was sagging low on the drive and hills slowed it down a bit but there was no damage and I put in a sidewalk for her.

Actually windshield replacement is free in Florida. Not because it’s snows or anything just we have automatic no fault insurance meaning if any damage happens to a windshield it’s just gonna get fixed likely in a couple of weeks. No insurance hike nor you pay for it, nope it’s all automatically covered at no charge. I’ve got a couple of chips in my windshield which I haven’t fixed just yet from some truck carrying a lot of pebbles and a few of those hitting the windshield fortunately those are small for now as I did get them looked at and they say it’s fine because they aren’t that big and unless it gets bigger leave it alone.

I did some hob carrying work one winter for a bricklayer. (They put a powdered chemical in the brixment to keep it from freezing as it dries). He'd lay brick all day on homes, but he'd tack in these little pieces of what looked like angle iron on the walls of the home to help support the brick as each course went higher.

As someone who recently had to deal with this, it was almost $1000. Thankfully, insurance covered it. They're more expensive these days because of all the cameras and tech that are in cars now... On top of the extra labor, everything also has to be properly calibrated afterwards.

9:40 I remember seeing my mom do that back in the 90's, on many occasions, because she was in a hurry. I was surprised it never cracked on her. She was using way more hot water than that guy too. She'd put hot water (as hot as she could get it from the faucet) into a bucket. Then take it out and poured it all over her car all in one go to clean out the ice so she could get going to work. I never figured out why it never went bad for her, either she just got lucky or cars were just built differently back then.

You just know that by the time someone (who?) figures out who to call about the cement truck dribbling concrete -- company that owns the truck? party who rented the truck? city maintenance/engineer/DOT/??? -- and they get around to sending someone out to take a look, then figures out what to do, that cement would've hardened, making 1. the street unusable at any significant speed, and 2. the removal a massive and expensive pain.

The average maximum weight limit for any car is maybe 2000 lbs but that’s not exactly realistic. It’s more like 1400 lbs if you have a trailer in the back. I kinda know because I had to haul a lot of cement for a backyard project and at 400 lbs it was still pretty low to the ground and my car is designed to move heavy objects because I do have an SUV but still that’s no joke as the car was struggling a bit on the road until I unloaded all the cement. Honestly around 200 lbs is about right I think.
