Agreed. And one reason could well be because he's not a drunk who N fans put their faith in, and he will just barely show up to the field nor develop who he recruited. You don't just build a team to outscore your opponent because your defense gives up too many points. You go for what you know because you build on what you're developing. A great team is one that builds on the chemistry it possesses, and doesn't defeat itself on the field. Coaching errors can be just as deadly as player turnovers, because in the end, football comes down to points and inches.
Michigan fan. Agree 100%. 9-3 to 11-1 for Nebraska. No Penn State or Michigan on the schedule. Nebraska fans have HDS - similar to TDS but in football. You all freak out too much when down and think you’re the best ever when you win. Relax and enjoy the ride! GBR! Go Blue! See you in the Rose Bowl!
I am a 44 year old Omaha Nebraska native. I know my husker history and I remember the good old days. I am hopeful but yet I hope. I remember the 1997 split national championship. Nebraska is my favorite Michigan is my favorite. Watching both in the Rose bowl is a dream come true gbr gbb

Coach Rhule is building something special in Lincoln. If you look at how much they lost by and the turnovers, fix that and they'll have a great season. Same thing if you look at Colorado's losses and the number of sacks their OL gave up. Both Colorado and Nebraska are my dark horses of 2024. Their match up in week 2 in Lincoln is going to be epic.

I'm uncertain at this point for how we'd finjsh my high is we at least make the National Championship but I'm not even ready to go that far yet. I need to see how week 1 goes to get a better picture on what could happen

Expectation 9-3 Maybe not playoffs or a natty but atleast a bowl game win
Highest 11-1 (Bowl Game win and a Playoff Birth end up losing a National Championship by a matter of seconds.)
The reason I have us losing the Natty if we make that far is because I don't think we are fully ready yet there is still some things that may need tweaked but our team is certainly capable of winning a Natty

based on last years polling. Even if you placed them as the lowest ranked 10 win team they make the top 12. We'll put them at 13 because of the G5 auto bid. Those 10 win teams include ole miss and mizzou. I can totally see Nebraska getting the nod for a play off spot. Why? They know husker fans will travel. Those that don't travel will watch the games. So yeah even at 10-2 with losses to USC and OSU they could make the playoffs.

@@beebers99 I 1/2 agree. The line returns all 5 starters from last year. 4 of which are upperclassmen. Ben Scott is one of the best centers in college football. If they can stay healthy (which was a problem in the past) they will be good enough to have Nebraksa in situations to win. but next year should be huge especially if they land Sanders. Secondary really depends on how bad hill's injury was and how well Wright does. The secondary with buford, Hertzog and Giffords could be one of the best in the conference. with the returners from last years top 15 D the dline should be able to make up in pressure what the secondary may lack in coverage.

Of course he was going to leave Temple (group of 5). He got poached at Baylor by a big NFL contract. Now he's in the ideal spot with a great fanbase. If he succeeds I can see him staying a long time in Lincoln.
Building a place like Temple will get you poached fast. What he did at Baylor is really impressive given the circumstances. Both have the same pattern.

#GoHuskers ... Turnovers. No team can go -17 and be successful. I've been a Husker fan for 45+ years and while I enjoy the optimism being generated right now about our program, truth is we've been here before. Pelini was supposed to be the next great coach and to his credit, he did guide us to 3 conference championship games (2 in the Big 12 and 1 in the BIG). Those championship game appearances were all losses, but no other coach since Pelini has even come close to getting us to CC game. Then we hired Frost and on paper that was the best, A+, hire of the year. We struggled in his 1st year and national pundits were hyping us for his 2nd year as a team to watch out for. So yeah, I enjoy the hype, but have PTSD (from previous coaches failures) that we'll fall flat on our faces again this year.
Pelini lasted as long as he did because he was protected by Dr. Tom. Frost was too soon and lasted as long as he did because of Dr Tom. One of the few good things Alberts did in his tenure as AD was step out of the shadow of trying to recreate Tom Osborne.
