- How to DIY change the oil pressure sensor on your Mk1 Audi TT 1.8 Turbo when you get the Red oil Can icon on the dash but it is obvious nothing is actually wrong with your oil pump/pickup pipe...PLEASE MAKE SURE you are convinced this is the case - if there is a oil pump or pickup pipe issue you could RUIN YOUR ENGINE. If the engine seems ok and isn't getting overly hot or making weird noises it may just be the pressure sensor has failed and the pressure is actually ok....
LO, I found that my engine compartment is missing yet another part and headed to the parts store. We fixed the Voltage Regulator last week so know how to take the dipstick brace off. The diagram was very helpful and the tip on taking caps off. Now it is clear how to take off. I had to buy a wiring harness because all the connectors to the coil packs were broke. Good video and didn't feel like it was filmed on an aircraft carrier like most others! Getting my degree in MK1.
This fixed my issue, only thing to mention is while squeezing the freshly cleaned connection onto the new sensor I brushed it against an oily wire housing accidentally and didn't realise that I had done so. When I tested the car after this the light and beep came back and my heart sank. After realising there was some oil in the connection I cleaned it again with contact cleaner and the issue was gone completely.
Good point
luckily this sensor is the most cheaper sensor you can get than other sensors but a bit tricky to DIY
I did this yesterday yeah I’m glad 😊the OE sensor was in service & last for 21 years !
Very true
Noce vid, since I have to do this job on the 180 of a friend ;)
Loud noise coming from oil filter side, oil leak all over engine and low oil pressure switch engine off what’s the problem and how to fix
Very difficult to diagnose problems in the comment section. If you are not a confident DIYer then consult a mechanic.

Ive had the light turn on, with no other styptoms. A moment later the cluster died completely haha so we know they need to be rebuild eventually. Since the rebuild 0 issues
But their is a moment in time when you think..is this the end?...na
Yeah we've had our cluster refurbed too 🤓
There’s a wiring loom in the way and I can’t get the sensor out. It’s loose and free but the loom will no let the sensor out. Any tips anyone? 😂
Is there any way to unclip or un-cabletie the loom to move it???
Got charged 3hrs labour for this job, my jaw still hasn’t came back off the floor.
My video is nine mins long job took 20mins maximum on the driveway....perhaps you should ask them why it took them so long
@@SNORKYMEDIA I did, said it was a pig of a job 🙄 hence I won’t be back.Lesson learned, I’ll diy next time if needed and follow along to your video bud
