This is arguably the most important video I have made, and I'm so glad we did! - As you can see from the video we had so much rubbish in the pickup pipe this was a close call that my engine did not get starved of oil and then blew up!
I have left all of the replacement parts, and their part numbers below so if you did want to try this, please give it a go!

Nice to see a younger chap looking after a Mk1 TT. The one thing you need to do though, without a doubt, is add some Waxoil to the underneath. Its a messy job, but the black stuff in a spray can is superb. Clean the underside with a brush, some light sand paper, and get the muck, loose debris and surface rust off where you can on those beams and bars. Then coat the whole thing, at least twice. Do it one day, leave it on, then add another coat the second day when its dried a bit. Then you can forget about it rusting and drive around all winter with no issues. And it will save you a lot of money in the long run, keeping parts preserved. I have a Mk2 TT, and its mostly aluminium so I dont need to worry about rust, but on mine the boot floor / rear subframe can be an issue, so I cleaned it up and waxoiled the lot. Just passed its MOT and the mechanic said it was really clean and rust free under there. As you keeping the car outside as well, and not garaged it would be a really good idea. It will cost about £30 for the waxoil and couple of days messy work. But it means the car will stay rust free and help to hold its value long term...
I appreciate the feedback, I am eventually going to be dropping the front and rear subframe and sand blasting and powder coating them to make them look brand new so I’m not too worried about them.
Good idea. But when that is done. Waxoil them. No matter how good they look. All the stones, salt and debris on the roads will still chip the new coating, so the waxoil will prevent that happening. I am not a salesman for the stuff, I just have used it for years and it works. Its the only stuff out there that does, no matter what other protections you put on the metal and suspension etc. Its bitter experience that has taught me this...heh...It will be a thorough fix and future prevention too.....

I got quoted almost 400£ from audi to do oil chance, oil filter and change this pickup pipe, to expensive or resonable?
Honestly I’d give it a go yourself! As if you learn how to do it, you’ll save yourself some money, and next time you’ll be twice as fast at doing it.
And if I can do it, you can do it too👍
