🥁Drummer Yoyoka’s BIOGRAPHY🥁
Born in October 2009, YOYOKA started playing drums at the age of two, played live at four, and formed her family band "Kaneaiyoyoka" at five. When she was six years old, she released her first CD while in kindergarten.
In addition to drums, YOYOKA sings, plays the piano, and is a songwriter. In 2018, at the age of eight, she became the youngest weekly champion in the under-18 category of the international female drummer contest "Hit Like A Girl". Her application video, a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" was featured on NBC, NPR, in Rolling Stone Magazine and in Billboard and then spread all over the world. Her drumming prowess has been praised by music legends such as Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Ian Paice( Deep Purple), Roger Taylor(Queen), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Sheryl Crow, Gene Simmons and Eric Singer (KISS), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Sass Jordan, Tony Royster Jr., Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine), Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai) and many more.
In 2018, at the age of eight, YOYOKA appeared in Japan's famous rock festival "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO" as the youngest performer ever. The following year, she made a surprise appearance Fall Out Boy’s stage at Summer Sonic Tokyo 2019 in front of an 20,000 audience. Later that year, she was invited to Cyndi Lauper’s show at Tokyo Orchard Hall as the guest drummer for two songs on the last day of her Japan tour.
YOYOKA is endorsed by world-class brands such as Nike, Moncler, and UNIQLO. In 2018, she shot a Nike campaign in Thailand, followed by a Moncler campaign shoot in New York in 2019. She became the face of Moncler alongside actor Will Smith. Both campaigns were launched worldwide and were very well-received.
Already at the age of eight, YOYOKA became the youngest drummer ever to sign an endorsement contracts with drum makers Pearl and VIC FIRTH. Since then, she has also signed with Zildjian, CYMPAD and DW.
YOYOKA’s attention from the world does not stop. In January and May 2018, YOYOKA was invited to LA twice to make an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, one of the most popular show in the United States, where she was praised by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters who made a shoutout to her on the show. She also impressed the audience with a successful show at the legendary live house "Whisky A Go Go".
In April 2019, YOYOKA was selected as Newsweek's "100 Japanese People Respected by the World" and "World's TOP500 drummers” by Drummer World, both the youngest in history.
In 2020, Pearl showcased her talent at the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim, the world’s largest musical instruments trade show. She was the youngest female and only Japanese drummer ever to appear.
The impact of YOYOKA continues to spread worldwide. Her favorite drummers are John Henry Bonham, Chris Coleman, Nate Smith, Chad Smith and Dave Grohl. Her dream is to travel and play sessions with people all over the world. - Hudba

物を知らなくてお顔は存じませんがVocalのかた、ピッチも発音もすばらしいです。Paul Rogersはもっと泥臭い演歌調ですが、こちらのVocalのかたのほうがクールで好きです。コテッコテのカラヤンとロックンロールな古楽器派のような違いがありますね。それからてっきり歌は後録りかと思いましたら全景のカットを見てライブ録音なのだとわかりました。こんなにきれいに録れるのですね、録音技術のかたもすごいです。SM58もぶっとくて良い音です。
I absolutely love this guy's singing. And the guitar on this is perfect. All the band members at the very top of their game. Love how whenever I watch a Yoyoka collaboration with other artists, I always end up appreciating them as much as I do her.

Of course her technique is incredible for her age, but what make her outstanding are her strong groove and perfect drum sounds. They both come from her heart. I think she is not a mere "talented" player, but a truly musical player.
This version of this song could be on a movie soundtrack....maybe in the future.

Just flat out awesome! It’s my understanding that our Yoyoka selected the tunes to be played and the fact that she was in to Free blew me away. All of the tunes they performed were outstanding but this was one of my favorites of the evening. Every musician that came to celebrate her birthday is world class. Just flat out awesome.
That was outstanding! It's funny but usually if it's your birthday, you get the presents. Yet on Yoyoka's birthday she was giving us presents - great songs, brilliantly performed.

The whole session NEEDS to be released as a CD and a DVD/Blu-ray. Such quality musicianship and production by all involved. The music I grew up with from my early teens way back in the 70's. Love it. Yoyoka's birthday present to the World.

I might be running out of superlatives to say about this young lady but I’ll try anyway. She’s such an old soul that channels the greats while creating her own mark in the industry. To be a witness to her journey is quite exciting. I don’t usually root for people coz usually they disappoint you in the end but with this ‘kid’, I’m totally invested to see and wish her success. I just hope that she and her family continues this direction they’re going with such class and humility. Kudos all around. ✌🏼

**EVERYTHING NEEDED** To pull this track off is in studio!! Zildjian A & K's, the "Drop D" string adapter on the Satsuma Strat style gtr, the 421's capturing the drum tones, and of course the vox, recorded using an SM 58!! (REMEMBER... they could have used any mic in the studio... but as I remember it, when "FREE" Recorded, they wanted the same approximate sound as they would get live.... Soooo those mics, choosen well!!) The Sony MDR 7506 cans, a Fender "P" bass ( it could be a "J" bass,, but I think it's a "P".) But the veryyyyyyy best part is that Hammond organ ran through the isolated LESLIE!!! It immediately brought me back to my younger years and the beginning of my music industry and recording situations and lifestyle... it is absolutely a lifestyle choice!!! Nice job all, WELL DONE YOU!!!!

Since this is Yoyoka's birthday, I have to say something about her. She did something here that's subtle but is a critical element to TRULY great drumming. I suspect that few people even notice it, but they feel it. At the very end of the big guitar solo, she falls behind the beat the create a momentary sense of heaviness. And then, like lifting up a heavy weight, she yanks the tempo forward and back into the groove. Really, really nice, really exciting.
I don't know if she does this consciously or intuitively, but it really doesn't matter. It's fantastic.

何回聴いてもしびれます！あらためて名曲だと思いましたがオリジナルよりヘビーでロックしてます！ボーカルも嵌っていますがよよかちゃんの堂々としたドラムが光ります！I'm numb to this! I thought it was a masterpiece again, but it's heavier and grooved than the original! The vocals are great, but yoyoka is also great with a sharp and dignified sound!
This was so good! I was a kid in the 70s, so I heard this song all the time from my mom playing it (and other songs by Free) on her turntable. Thanks for playing it!
