🥁Drummer Yoyoka’s BIOGRAPHY🥁
Born in October 2009, YOYOKA started playing drums at the age of two, played live at four, and formed her family band "Kaneaiyoyoka" at five. When she was six years old, she released her first CD while in kindergarten.
In addition to drums, YOYOKA sings, plays the piano, and is a songwriter. In 2018, at the age of eight, she became the youngest weekly champion in the under-18 category of the international female drummer contest "Hit Like A Girl". Her application video, a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" was featured on NBC, NPR, in Rolling Stone Magazine and in Billboard and then spread all over the world. Her drumming prowess has been praised by music legends such as Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Ian Paice( Deep Purple), Roger Taylor(Queen), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Sheryl Crow, Gene Simmons and Eric Singer (KISS), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Sass Jordan, Tony Royster Jr., Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine), Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai) and many more.
In 2018, at the age of eight, YOYOKA appeared in Japan's famous rock festival "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO" as the youngest performer ever. The following year, she made a surprise appearance Fall Out Boy’s stage at Summer Sonic Tokyo 2019 in front of an 20,000 audience. Later that year, she was invited to Cyndi Lauper’s show at Tokyo Orchard Hall as the guest drummer for two songs on the last day of her Japan tour.
YOYOKA is endorsed by world-class brands such as Nike, Moncler, and UNIQLO. In 2018, she shot a Nike campaign in Thailand, followed by a Moncler campaign shoot in New York in 2019. She became the face of Moncler alongside actor Will Smith. Both campaigns were launched worldwide and were very well-received.
Already at the age of eight, YOYOKA became the youngest drummer ever to sign an endorsement contracts with drum makers Pearl and VIC FIRTH. Since then, she has also signed with Zildjian, CYMPAD and DW.
YOYOKA’s attention from the world does not stop. In January and May 2018, YOYOKA was invited to LA twice to make an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, one of the most popular show in the United States, where she was praised by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters who made a shoutout to her on the show. She also impressed the audience with a successful show at the legendary live house "Whisky A Go Go".
In April 2019, YOYOKA was selected as Newsweek's "100 Japanese People Respected by the World" and "World's TOP500 drummers” by Drummer World, both the youngest in history.
In 2020, Pearl showcased her talent at the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim, the world’s largest musical instruments trade show. She was the youngest female and only Japanese drummer ever to appear.
The impact of YOYOKA continues to spread worldwide. Her favorite drummers are John Henry Bonham, Chris Coleman, Nate Smith, Chad Smith and Dave Grohl. Her dream is to travel and play sessions with people all over the world.

I've watched Yoyoka since she was a cute little kid starting out with her CZcams videos and thought "hmmmm, for 7 years old she's pretty good". Seeing her progress to the point where she could sit in with ANY band on the planet and absolutely KILL it has been nothing short of awe inspiring. She really is a miracle of musical genius

After the third or fourth video I watched I thought "if she's this good now just wait until her feet reach the floor".
Then she grew, her feet rested firmly on the pedals, and her drummers face came in, and she became even yet still better than I thought she would. Such a talent.

そしてこのカウベルの音、めっちゃ好み。おばちゃんは、昔付き合ってたドラマーの彼にカウベルの音が違うとずっと訴えていたけど、わかってもらえなかったんだよねw
I know there are a lot of great drummers who have recorded music, Tony Williams, Al Foster, Cobham, Bonham, Paice, Rich, Mike, Blakey and many many more, but...But, Yoyoka is my favorite. I say it out in the open, she is my favorite. It's not about skills, or how she sounds or anything like that ,(even though she hits hard, clear with an amazing groove and tempo) but it's because when she drums I can hear the infinite amounts of passion and love that she has. The kit to her is like oxygen to humans!

2年前のドラムカバーを思い出します。やっぱり生演奏でグルーヴ感を出すのってドラムカバーよりも相当高難度だと思いますが余裕綽々ですね☺️
こういうストレートなロックだとYOYOKAちゃんの8ビートの心地よさが余計際立ちますね❤️
そうそう。みんなそれなりに緊張した表情なのに寺沢さん一人だけ全曲通じて楽しんでるのが顔に出てますよね😊
それと改めて原曲を聴いて見るとタイトはタイトだけど結構軽いドラムだったんですね。意外でした。
それに対してYOYOKAちゃんは重くて太いのにタイト、これって一体なんなんでしょう😄😄😄
@md 42jkl 薩摩さんもバンドでライブも結構やってるので生演奏苦手という事ではないと思うのですが、今回は錚々たるメンバーで気合いが入り過ぎていたのかも知れませんね。Jumpは特にリベンジしたいんじゃないかな～(笑)。
よよかちゃんの右手とクロスしている時の左手のストロークは私も本当に凄いなと思っていました。ドラム叩いた事はないですが見ただけでも凄いのはわかります。こういうフォームの人って他にいますか？デイブ・グロールなんかもダイナミックなフォームですが、あそこまで左手上がってないし、スネアのストローク大きいと思える人はよく見るとハイハットのセッティングも確かに高めで干渉にくくしているような気がします。よよかちゃんの場合は、まるでプロペラ同調装置(知ってます？笑)のような精密なタイミングとハイハット自体も柔らかい手首で思い切りスナップを効かせているのでスティックが真上まで上がっていて干渉しないのかなと思います。6,7歳頃のごく初期の映像から既にこのフォームですからね。凄いです。
Get Luckyを初めて見た時には、小さなスネアのストロークを見て逆にハイハットをいかに高速連打しているかということに気が付きました。16分音符の連打でほとんど右手一本で16ビートを刻んでますもんね。全く恐れ入ります。よよかちゃん本人も最近のカバーで一番のお気に入りと言ってましたね。
あと、Rosannaでも、さすがに左手は低い位置にとどまっていますね。Virtual Insanityなんかではハイハットを高速で連打する時には低く、それ以外の時は高くとごく自然に切り替わってますよね。もう体に染み付いているんでしょうね。
話は少し違いますが、よよかちゃんのRosannaを最初に聴いた時には、ハイハットだけでチチチ チチチと3連符を叩いているのかと思いました。実際にはハイハットはチッチ チッチと16分のシャッフルを叩いていて、その間にスネアのゴーストが入ってチトチ チトチとなっているのはわかるんですが聴覚的にはハイハットの3連符に聴こえてとても新鮮でした。0.5倍速で再生してみるとはっきりとゴーストがわかるんですけど今度は4分間にわたって一切乱れずに3連符を刻み続けている事にまた驚きました。コメントにはゴーストになっていないとかハーフタイムシャッフルじゃないとかいうのもありますけど、よよかちゃんの解釈ではこの曲はこういう曲っていう事なんですよね。私にとってもとても気持ちいいビートです。また長々と書いてしまってすみません(笑)

Rossanaについては多分練習というか習作というかそういうものを公開してくれたのかなと思っています。あれが完全なハーフタイムシャッフルかどうかは別にしても気持ちのいいビートであることは確かだと思います。三連系のリズムキープはミュージシャンとしての資質が問われると聞いた事がありますが、そういう意味でもあの演奏は凄いものなのでしょうね。
コージーパウエルも最高だけどGFRドンブリューワも迫力やね❗ハートブレイカーも聴きたい🙇

Yoyoka could be a seriously talented professional studio musician, even without reading ability she has the feel, the restraint and the chops to do so much. She has always been intuitive, and unlike so many other Young Japanese prodigy, is inside the music, part of it, as an extension of herself. She has "time".

@@mikelawson6456 there are many session musicians who don't read. Depends on the kind of production. Glen Campbell, Jimmie page, Leon Russell are examples.

Technique, passion, tone, etc... She has all of that stuff in spades. What kills me is the way she seems to effortlessly replicate the feel of the original drummer and gets how important that is. I know drummers my age and older that don't even think about that stuff.
Forget the fact that Yoyoka is a prodigy drummer and let’s all recognize that her parents introduced her to some legendary classic rock that as a toddler she embraced, learned and plays it with absolute authority. Great job parents of Yoyoka!!! Your little girl brings joy to us.
