  • Normally we would walk away from an abandoned house like this … rammed with stuff all over the floor! But this is an opportunity I’m glad we took! Not only did it creep us out more than any other house EVER! But the history hidden away upstairs was breathtaking, lords, royalty and money oozes from every pore of this place! We found more history in this place than most of the others added together!! WATCH THIS TO
    THE END!!!

I love the photos and papers, please keep them up! That paper you were holding was FASCINATING!! A legal contract ensuring a (possibly illegitimate) daughter gets the same share of the inheritance from her father as his other children and a prearranged marriage thrown in! What an amazing piece of history, and the photos!! I would research that, can't believe what was buried in all that crap! Loved this video like always ❤️❤️

Great video guys! The letter from Dallas Lodge reads: My own dear wife, I was very glad to get your long letter today and to hear that you were having fine weather and that Maddie was looking better…(I believe he goes on to talk about the sea but a thumb was in the way)😉
Fun fact Dallas Lodge in Scotland has a connection to Dallas Texas 🇺🇸it’s the same family. When they got to the States they named the city of Dallas after their ancestral home.

I love old photographs it's a tiny window into the past. I was sat here trying to piece the family tree. The letters to Loftus could have been from his wife Joan. Cecilia Joan the daughter of Lillie Thornhill. This video was one of my favourites those letters and photos need to be saved somehow, such a shame you can't get permission to retrieve them. Well done on such a fascinating video.

Due to my research Lillie Pickard (maiden name) (age 27)is Cecilia’s mom and her father was named Loftus Thornhill (age 47). Cecilia was born April 10, 1901 and married Albert Conder in 1939. Albert was born in 1905. Cecilia had 2 siblings. Cecilia passed away at 81 in 1982.

I used to work in 16 Devonshire street in London in 1980s.They were really lovely Victorian houses. In our basement was the servants quarters and kitchen all original. We still had the dumb waiter. The rooms were huge. The entrance was all oak panelling and had a huge sweeping staircase.
      So much history.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquess_of_Anglesey .Family history, 1815-present
Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey, at the Battle of Waterloo.
Lord Anglesey later held political office as Master-General of the Ordnance and Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland. He was succeeded by his eldest son from his first marriage, the second Marquess. He served as Lord Chamberlain of the Household under Lord Melbourne between 1839 and 1841. His only son from his first marriage, the third Marquess, represented Staffordshire South in Parliament. He was childless and was succeeded by his half-brother, the fourth Marquess. He held the honorary post of vice-admiral of North Wales and West Carmarthen. His son, the fifth Marquess, became known for squandering his inheritance on a lavish social life and accumulating massive debts. In 1904 he was declared bankrupt. He died the following year aged only 29 and was succeeded by his cousin, the sixth Marquess. He was the son of Lord Alexander Paget, third son of the second Marquess. He was a soldier and courtier. He was succeeded by his only son, the seventh Marquess, who succeeded in 1947 and who was an author and historian.[7] The seventh Marquess died in 2013 and was succeeded by his son Charles Alexander Vaughan Paget, 8th Marquess of Anglesey (born 1950).[8] The heir apparent is the present holder's son, Benedict Dashiell Thomas Paget, Earl of Uxbridge.

The handwriting is called Calligraphy. I have some ink dip tips that are different " shapes" or sizes to get this fancy type of writing .
Those old photos and notes and letters I could look through all day . I love looking through old letters and photos.
A Dowry you would be correct. It was common practice so the couple would not go into a marriage with nothing.

Oh my! I was eating when you started laughing... I almost choked. LOL I truly love the photos. Please keep sharing.... thank's for the laughs!!! I love treasure hunting. Wondering if that sound was a swing blowing in the wind, but you said no wind? What year was the physio/medical book. Wish so much the history could be pieced together & put in a museum. Amazing life

I came across your channel this morning and this was the first video I watched. Are you both from Yorkshire.??. Im from Wakefield. 😬😬. Thanks for giving me such a laugh I think you work so well together and you both have a fab sense of humour and I wish I knew you personally. 🥰🥰🥰. I was in a dark place this morning and not only did you make me laugh numerous times I love horses so this video was just what I needed.
Thank you again, you definitely have a new subscriber here. XXX ❤ ❤ ❤
P.S. I can't believe you found Orval after all these years. I was wondering where he went. I always knew Orval wasn't dead. Conspiracy theory cleared up. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would never have left that place. I would still be there reading all the letters and looking at all the pictures. What an amazing place. 😲😲😲

Very cool and spooky explore! Nothing like getting lost into the past reading letters and looking over photographs and plates from over 100 years ago. I think your interloper may have been a fox, probably surprised to find you in it's house. The man on the road was probably just Loftus, seeing his guests off to their carriage.
    BTW Happy Father's Day guys!
To the "I don't want to look at photos crowd," those photos are a window into the past as much as the building that is being explored. It is amazing history. The only thing that Matt could do, provide timestamps so that the photo averse can bypass the photos.
