    Spill mics are THE functionality that's been missing from VI's. Would be amazing if you could make a video with a full orchestra playing, and then soloing/muting the spill mic positions, A/Bing the mixes before the spill mic functionality was introduced, and after.

    I have to say when you play the close mics only, it sounds a little synthy to me. But as you add a bit of balcony, so lovely. The spill mics are nice also. I will probably spend way too much time playing with the combination of positions. Can you save a mic preset similar to Jake’s mics? That would be cool.

    • @TheCrowHillCo
      @TheCrowHillCo Před 5 lety +5

      Ella Bella Close mics only on brass are never advisable, they’re great for adding bite but you need to get some distance... for me I would go for the coles pair if you want a tight but realistic sound.

  • @justink6325
    @justink6325 Před 5 lety +2

    Great demo Paul!
    Question about the mic signals: will we be able to route each signal to external audio outputs (eg. 3-4, 5-6) a la Kontakt? That would really be useful for dynamically controlling the levels for the spill mics.

    • @colin_la
      @colin_la Před 5 lety +1

      Justin K wondering this as well, especially for the atmos signals. I often like to route all “room” signals to a buss for the mix.

    I hear sounds as an audience would, so already I’m cultivating melodies. Exciting times ahead! 😁🎶

  • @PaulCassidyOrchestrations

    I was wondering if this has the option to purge all samples after a patch is loaded, as Kontakt does? My machine only has 32gb RAM and I fear this library may kill it off. Thanks!

    • @tivermusic
      @tivermusic Před 3 lety

      There is no purge function unfortunately. However it can be quite light on resources, if you only use one of the mixes. A full symphonic orchestra takes less than 9GB on my machine.

    Interesting, but if you ask me, for my use, I would prefer (for the same amount of memory and disk space used) to have less mics and get instead more articulations and round robins.

    • @TheCrowHillCo
      @TheCrowHillCo Před 5 lety +5

      Francis Bourre but the economics unfortunately don’t tally like you suggest, for this price you’re not really paying for the mics, halving the mics doesn’t halve the recording time where doubling stuff like round robins and artics doubles the number of sessions we have to record.

    I'm terribly sorry if I'm asking stupid questions (I know very little about orchestra micing):
    Why is the stereo and wide mics more set to the left compared to e.g. close mic that is panned to the right (the celli position)?
    Really like the depth though, from very dry mono to wide roomy sound and the richness and detail of the leader position.

    Quite worrying how much ram is being used - over 1Gb for a single patch in some cases. How much ram will be required for a full orchestra template? I have 64Gb and at the moment my full orchestra template uses about 30Gb - that's with Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra.

    • @TheCrowHillCo
      @TheCrowHillCo Před 5 lety +1

      See my full template film loads in fine for less than 30GB every single articulation...

    • @awpqq
      @awpqq Před 5 lety

      @@TheCrowHillCo that's good to know - how many mics are you using per instrument? I notice that the JJ mixes seems to use a lot less ram - and sound wonderful too.

    • @TheCrowHillCo
      @TheCrowHillCo Před 5 lety +1

      Andrew Wilson JJ mix only however that is the Logic RAM usage in activity monitor where BBCSO reads < 20GB remember this is every articulation active from oboe flutter tongues to marimba trems. Your never going to be using every single artic so I would venture you’ll easily get a similar memory footprint with 2-3 mics and still have a massive amount of artics loaded.

    I've got quite a big decision to make. Does anyone have any recommendations on whether to get this (BBC) vs the studio series? I already have the studio woodwinds and absolutely love them, but can't decide between getting this and the rest of the studio series along with spitfire perc for percussion needs.
    Also am I the only one that is unable to view the full articulations list on the Spitfire website? I've been trying for a week now, and clicking "show more" moves the box, but I still can't see the articulations.

    • @jasonstam8661
      @jasonstam8661 Před 5 lety +1

      The articulations list should be visible, might be an issue with your browser? And to attempt answering your dilemma, I'd say wait for the release and read the reviews before you make a decision.

    Question: Why is BBC Symphony better then LSO as an orchestra (not as your sample library). As someone from the states, I am not sure why BBC is such an exciting thing since they are not known for film scores as LSO is obviously because of Star Wars, etc. Just curious... =)

    • @rogernewton7831

      English players are well renowned for being some of the best session musicians in the world especially wind and brass, so it makes sense maida vaile studios being home to the BBBSO is thus home to a lot of these players, if you’ve ever played in their main hall you’ll understand what the hype is all for

    It lacks solo instruments and focuses on mic for extra $550 which I note Orchestral tools give you at a lesser price. I was hoping there would be more solo instruments. I was enthralled to get Discover and moved on to buy Core and then Originals EB and W, IS and FP for sketching ensemble initial scoring. I am now looking for solo violin, cellos, horn, trumpet, flute, and saxophone. So I guess I shall have to look to the masters as to where they go. You seem to have focused in multiple instruments maybe just in this exposee. Pro seems not to have many supporters compared with Core and also moved on to other products telying on this video?
