    His book _"The Light of Christ: An Introduction to Catholicism"_ is a fantastic book, so full of meaning both intelectual and spiritual!
    Since I am pretty acquainted with the agument the great Protestant theologian Karl Barth used to justify his terminant refusal of "analogia entis" and natural theology, whereas St. Thomas Aquinas said both "analogia entis" (reason) and "analogia fidei" (faith) are theological instruments to get closer to appreciating God's mystery, I will definetely get my hands on the _"The Analogy of Being: Invention of the Antichrist or Wisdom of God?",_ which Fr. Thomas White edited, but unfortunately it is not available for Kindle (shipping to my country is currently irrationaly expensive, especially considering the exchange rate became very not favorable to our currency).
    "Fides et Ratio" is one of my favorite magisterial documents of the Church, by the way.
    Thanks, Fr. Thomas White.

    Speaking of saying to someone "I will pray for you"
    I have a Catholic brother,(2 yrs older then me) who lives with me.
    In the last 2 years, he has become viciously anti-Catholic..thanks to the internet! We cannot have dialogue AT ALL! Easter is on Sunday..and yes, he believes with his whole heart, that Christmas and Easter are pagan! Anyway, the point is, that following him trashing my belief in the Catholic Church...i always end it with "I will pray for you!"
    His face turns red, he starts to sweat, and he gets so mad that you would have thought I said "go **** yourself!"
    It's amazing how differently those words can be taken!
    I think it's just the demon that's holding him down, that's reacting! Because to know my brother, is to love him! He is a good guy, who does love Jesus! He has just been led astray, and I need to pray fir him!
    Thanks for listening! đŸŒč

    Listening to Fr. Thomas Joseph makes me feel smarter. Even if I will need these precepts and insights drilled again and again into my thick skull before I can share them with others!

    Thanks to your longtime friendship with Fr. Gregory Pine, I’ve been a huge fan of The Hillbilly Thomists since day one. My wife and I listen to them all the time, and our kids absolutely love their new album.

    Such great dialogue in responding to some complex questions. On the fiction topic, Notes from Underground by Dostoyevsky is excellent. Only about 130 pages (short for a Russian novel). It depicts the folly of a nihilist trying to navigate a world of God’s creation.

    As a theology/philosophy geek I thoroughly enjoyed this interview with Fr. White. I have a concern about the question of saintly intercession. The non-Catholic objection is not so much with the communion of saints, nor with the possibility that departed saints are aware of earthly things. The clarification needs to be that the saints can pray for us but clearly don't possess, in and of themselves, divine power equivalent to the Godhead.

    • @andrewmccullough559
      @andrewmccullough559 Pƙed 2 lety

      The saints don't possess power equivalent to God's, either in and of themselves, or by gift from God -- not even God is able to communicate the fullness of his divine power to a creature, because that would entail a communication of the entire Divine Essence, a duplication of God.
      Fr Thomas Joseph said something important about the power of the saints in heaven: we should not think that they are less alive, or love God less than on earth. This is silly. As St Paul says, the greatest of these (faith, hope, and love) is love, which does not pass away. Or as John says, in heaven "we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is." We do not become God, but we are even closer to him than in this life. Do we then stop loving what God loves? Do we stop caring about the redemption of the world? No. We love God more, and love the world in God. We intercede for the world, because in union with God and through his power, and by their asking, we can know the needs of individuals.

    I don't like horror at all.... It is not in itself evil but just as romance can cross a boundary to be sinful, so too horror can cross boundaries which are detrimental.... our eyes are the gate way to our souls and more often than not, the ghastly and goulish elements in this particular genre are diabolical.
