- This week we're SO excited to share with you our new DTF Printer! What is DTF? And why do I care? Well we're going to answer all of those questions and more in this week's video! We're sharing a little about WHY we wanted this printer and why we're so excited about it. We're also going to show you the set-up process and make our first t-shirt and wood name plate! So come watch us #doitbuilditmakeit!
Everything came with it! It came with the printer (and spare parts), the heater, 100 transfer sheets, the software, and the ink. We did need to buy the adhesive power and we needed a heat press. The largest print size is 11.7 x 16.5 in and our logo 3 times at 3.5 x 9.75 took 16 minutes then 3 minutes in the heater. 15 seconds to press.

Try to install the software. It will create a folder called c:/PartnerV9 . Then go to Windows Setting/Updates and Security. On the left Windows Security then click the Open Windows Security button. On that screen scroll down to Virus and Threat Protection Setting and click manage settings. Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or Remove Exclusions. Then click Add an Exclusion/Folder. Navigate to the folder PartnerV9 and select it. Done. Reinstall the software.

Hi Kim and Garrett - Fabulous new toy. I think it has some great possibilities. Thanks for sharing and continued success. Love PegEgg
Our pleasure! Thanks Peg
Very cool! Can't wait to see how the shirts wash and tumblers!
Coming soon!
We have made so many functional things and crafty things on our 3d Printer. From making a support to fix the latch on our front screen door, personalized flashlight holders for command strips for the wall, earring trees, personalized organizational tabs for coin collection, fidgets for the kids, converting SVGs to make earrings! You could also 3D print words for decor!
I’ve been doing Dtf for about 2 years I love it!
What kind of machine do you have and is there a lot of maintenance on it?
Ok, one of these is now on my list! So many ideas.. I will be anxious to see what happens after a few washes on the shirts but I really like the option to add to any substrate. Also... give in and let him get a 3D printer. I have a few and printed items for my Xtool, cable management for my office, laptop and phone stands, fruit fly traps, and so much more!
Great idea!! those are pretty handy things to print!
THANKS FOR MAKING MY NIGHT, Y'ALL FUNNY. JOKING AROUND. WISH I COULD AFFORD THE MACHINES YOU HAVE. LOVE WHAT YOU BOTH ARE DOING!
Aw thank you so much for watching!
@@KimandGarrettmakeit You are so welcome
My son used a 3D printer to print a helmet that he made for fun for himself. It was printed in 4 sections because he had a smaller version of it. He bought a new one and now he can print in 2 pieces. With the knowledge your hubby has, he definitely deserves a 3D printer.
That's a great idea!
Good work, please keep ‘em coming, thank you and God Bless:)
Thanks Sandy! I hope I can keep them coming! 😆 🤣 😂 ~garrett
3d printer is totally needed. I got one last year and I love it. I also do sublimation laser cutting, etc
Very cool! You sound like a regular Amanda Of All Trades! HA! I just got a 3D printer, but it is in 1000 pieces! I am dreading putting it together, I just want to print!!! Thanks Amanda! Good Luck! ~garrett
Amazing. I remember loving getting my shirts from the beach. The feel, but loved the smell. Lol
The best!
Two years DTF is really recent. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty awesome I would love to get a DTF printer. 🥰♥️
Yes! Can’t wait for the wash test
I feel like 3D printers for home use are for either prototyping home inventions or creating custom fixtures and artwork. I'm about to purchase one myself, and am very excited at the prospect of making replacement plastic parts for pieces that sometimes break off slightly cheaper items. I also collect figurines, and it would be cool to print them for the character shelf. I would pull the trigger, they are much more economical then they used to be.
I’ve been use 3dp like for a year, belive me it’s sometimes killn me its not that easy print in quality everytime. Hotend problems, layer problems, bed levelng problems bla bla bla
The DTF printer looks like a lot of fun! Great tutorial!
It was! Thank you! More to come!
Worked great! Beautiful!
Right?!
You guys look like your having fun I wish there were people in my city that are into printing on t shirts especially with a dtf printer
awesome vid...im waiting for my printer as we speak...i cant wait
Thank you! Great video lots of information 🙂
Thank you for sharing, much appreciated.
Thank you guys, great help after watching this video.
Great to hear!
Garrett - a 3D printer is a must. I print chucks for my resin tumbler spinners. But a fan screw guide for your glowforge when you clean the air assist fan.
Those are awesome ideas!
3D printers are affordable and you can make literally anything! Cmon Kim!
Very cool to see!
Congrats...top tip from a video I have seen... you can actually reuse the film as the heat press removes all residue. I am still saving up for mine, but having done heaps of research this seems to be a good choice... have fun with it.
Thanks Sally!! I was wondering if we could!!! I am going to try it.I hope you get one soon. It's pretty awesome! ~garrett
Garrett, you really need the 3D printer! So many fun things you can make with one of those! You guys make a really great team. Keep up the good work! (Ps, Kim... Garrett should get the 3D printer cos you get dibs on the next machine to add to the collection! Lol!)
This is awesome!!
Right?! We're very excited
I want a DTF now. I can't wait till you do a round with it.
Rigght?! we're so excited, maybe we'll sell kits??
I’m a newbie!! I came across your channel and will absolutely invest in one!! I wanna learn how to make blankets and more!!
I’ve got a DTF a cricket machine a 3-D printer, and a 3-D printer is awesome buddy you can make absolutely anything
OOOOoooo!! I have one, I just need to assemble it. It's in about One Million pieces! I cannot wait! Thanks Jason! ~garrett
Lol i feel you about the 3d printer my guy! 😁
Mine will be here tomorrow can’t wait…
Lol, first thing printed with a 3D printer was a catch for a cat carrier, when one broke and there was no replacement available! I've printed dams for Polymer stamp making, metal detector bits, custom cookie cutters, tool holders for electronic cutting machines, bases for LED lamps, all sorts of craft items.
you're the man of the house, just go buy one.
thank you for putting this video together. is there a size limitation?
I’m so happy you guys are trying this out. I have been on the fence between the DTF or white toner printer. The biggest thing I am worried about with dtf is the maintenance. Can you guys explain up keep for the dtf next video? Thank you
Yes! We will definitely film and do a maintenance video
@@KimandGarrettmakeit Hi guys! How is your DTF doing after all this time? any clogging issues?
Thanks for sharing this detailed video! Where do you get that syringe with rubber tip?
Hi, great information you guys give out, like your videos. Can you give us a breakdown of the cost per transfer and the cost of the machine and how much downtime for repairs of maintenance?
We'll make a note of that! We're doing another DTF video this week
You could make tool caddy’s for our cricut tools or trays to fit the cricut machine drawers to store tools and blades better.
Oooh that is fun!
I love yall so much! My husband and I just set our printer up, we have the same exact one that yall have. Im curious to know what version of rip software do yall have? I have a 10.1 and I do not have an option in my software to choose "text and graphics" or "photo". My prints are very dull and blurry.
I have one and have made vases, phone holders, car parts, toys, it’s literally endless on what you can make
Thank you! Your video covered what my problem was. Can you do a video on what setting to print on please. My white is coming transparent.. not looking good on my dark colors at all
Hey Kim & Garrett have you guys tried using the black powder on the black shirts yet ? They say the Black powder works best on darker color fabrics like Black, Navy, Charcoal. Our DTF Printer & Oven is already shipped hope to get it this week hopefully. My wife Tracey & I have a Printing Business already and we wanted to make our darker color shirts feel great soft not stiff on the T shirts. So, we were told this will be great for us in Our Printing Business. We Love Sublimation just like you guys and yes we are limited on the colors and fabrics we can use which the best is 100% White polyester of course. We Love you guys and your Videos are very helpful and fun watching you guys having fun.
don't use black fine powder, use medium powder, other wise the powder on the edge will not shake cleanly
Nice sharing❤
3D printer : extra long mirror holders for my motorcycle, battery holder, business card & leaflet holders, visor mask headbands during pandemic, key-fobs - you name it you can do it!
Not sure if anyone asked this question, but there’s different dtf machines like the one you have I was looking at and some are dye sublimation and some are inkjet. I already have a sawgrass 500. Was wondering what the two inks were all about and which is recommended for me
I've got 2, 3D Printers and they work 24/7! I also have 2 DTF printers, lol
Before printing, what were your print settings in the RIP software?
Any issues with the white in clogging the print head? DTG printer have an issue with white plugging the printhead unless you have one with a circulation system for the white ink.
great video, im looking to purchase a DTF printer
Future goals.
HIII!! do you have a video break down (or is it in the software) tells you how to have your print settings?
I want a dtf printer still in the research part of getting one so this was a useful video
On the 3D printer part I don’t have one, but my ex-husband has one and makes custom cake toppers. I don’t know what alls involved. However he did our daughters and it looked just like her and her groom. He also makes these pictures things that look like nothing until you light a candle behind them and then the picture shows up like a shadow..
Glad it was helpful! This would be awesome for something like that! I'd love to see what you mean about the candle picture
I’ve 3d printed shelf brackets, cookie cutters, storm trooper helmets, parts for my wife’s business, etc. sky’s the limit
Hey :) Great video !! I was wondering.. should I get a air purifier if I'm indoor because of the oven ? Isn't it risky for the health to breath the melting powder ? Thank you a lot, keep it the good vids :D
Thanks
I saw this guy make 3D planter
Pots for his wife’s house plants! They were stunning! Also 3D Areoponics tower garden.
QUESTION 🙋♀️. So with DTF printer you have to let it cool? Cant just peel off I’m guessing.
I want to get one of these so bad! It’s next on my list! For now I’ll buy the images from someone else! Love tall
I 3D print personalized lighter sleeves, jars ring holders, and charms for making jewelry
3d printers are great, you can print replacement parts like hinges/handles, custom peg board parts/holders, and so much more. There are ton of things a 3d printer can be used from from printing a silly little figure to literal guns. 3d printing tech has drastically improved over the last few years.
Hi there, great video. What accessories did you need to buy with it? I see it comes with film and ink. So powder is needed and you mentioned that. But did you need anything else? Also, what is the biggest size you can print? How long does it take to print (on average)? Thank you for trying this all out for us!
Hey Rick and Yvonne! Hope this helps! Our Pleasure! Thanks for watching! ~garrett
@@KimandGarrettmakeit awesome, thank you. What is the biggest size you can print?
Great info and demonstration!
Hey guys! Its been a few weeks. I'm curious about how its going can you please do a follow up video for us?
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me figure out how to change some of the print settings? I recently purchased this printer and the white is more grey and I would like for it to be a bright White!
Great video, you are using rip 10.5? How do you change picture or txt&desing quality settings?
Hey guys, would you mind adding your heat lamp to the description please... as I'd love to know which one you use for adhering the powder
Do you know what to do when the ink scratches? As mine prints, its almost like as it goes back it erases and mixes the colors together
You can 3 D print Christmas ornaments. My friend makes little trees for Christmas. They are sooo cute
You can make stamps with the flexible resin or molds for candle shaped
I got a brand new toy!…. WE got a brand new toy! *eye roll* 🤣 great video guys!
LOL
Garrett, I have a great suggestion on how to get you that 3D printer. I have one still in a box kit that is about 4 years old. You pay the S&H, and I'll ship it to you!
lol email me if you're serious! we'd do that support@kandgmakeit.com
but the 3d printer is so cool. I have a little 3d snowman that was given to me for Christmas prior to covid hitting and its so cool. Hey you can also make 3d mask from it and POSSIBLY sublimate on it i wonder :) ........(hence helping the hubby to get one lol).
🔥🔥🔥🔥
What are the settings you guys use on the black t shirt? My colors don’t seem to pop out on black t shirts.
Would you be able to share your settings? I have been trying to print out something with white letters and it’s coming out so distorted and looks very pixelated.
so even though the adhesive is white it wont put a white backing on it? Cause I was thinking of seeing if I could print with my subbed epson ecotank 2720 printed on the film.. hit with powder and let dry .. and see if it would work on black cotton
i have same printer and my white is not popping. what setting did/can you change to make the white pop?
On shirts, does it feel like thin vinyl or more like sublimation? And will it always have the light gloss or matte? Thank you!
Feels like thin vinyl and a bit more matte than glossy.
(I don't have a dtf printer yet, but my mom's friend does and had made her several shirts.)
How do I get the white behind the design? We are using dtg rip version 10.1. We have tried everything all your videos say. It does not give us an option to change image settings
Thanks for the tips guys. I purchased mine from a friend who never used hers but I see I'm missing the cup for the back to excess ink.
You can use a Starbucks Tall Cold Brew with extra Chocolate Foam cup in place of the overflow cup it was supposed to come with. ~garrett
@@KimandGarrettmakeit really? Just a starbucks cup? I have been searching everywhere for something similar.
Do you have any videos on how to clean the lines?
I use sublidecals on mdf sublimated then laser cut. But it just looks like a fancy sticker or printed photo. Looking for a different finish and a solution for tshirts
Hey I bought this machine is there anyway I can get the rip software to control it?
Try using a normal heat press for the pressure and you have to heat press it once more after you cold peel off
YES GETS RID OF THE GLOSS LOOK AND LEFTOVER ADHESIVE
After it dries, does it stick well enough on wood to cut into puzzles?
3d print ornaments!!
I have the same printer from amazon. What program did yours come with? DTG RIP? If so can you show me how to get the white to pop?? I did one print and it wasn't vibrant at all.
I'm also seeing extra ink streaks on the prints. Can you tell me how to correct this?
clear Oracal 651 is one I use on wood and other things
I have a question, would it be the same ink to use to make stickers ?
Hi, I discovered you by watching your videos on CZcams. I have an Epson L1800 printer converted to DTF, to print only white logos on a black t-shirt, can I get excellent results by printing the white isotro at 1440x720 or should I print the white at 1440x1440?
wooden appliques for furniture is a great 3d [rinter thing.. you can buy wood filaments
any help would be great. we have the same machine. but after installing the software. while trying to open it says 'cant find key lock' we cant find anywhere to help. did you by chance have this issue?
I have exactly what you bought... I was wondering if you have the printer setup ? Size of paper, how to make a template, etc.
Good Day, you did 2 print jobs and you said the one with the PHOTO setting laid down the most white ink background...because that is the trouble I am having...mine does not lay down enough white ink...can you let me know where that PHOTO setting is?
YES the photo setting! in the print menu. We have another video this week for more information
Great video!! Can you apply this to a ceramic mug?
I think so! We'll have to try in another video!
3D Printer isn't something you buy to make products, for the most part, it's something you buy to make jigs and things you can't buy but are for your own use. I have a few 3d printed products that I sell, but I think the strength is custom tools, jigs, measuring devices, etc. I think that's the killer application for it.
oooh okay, interesting. So really it is more for Hobby use
@@KimandGarrettmakeit I wouldn’t say more for hobby use but you’re More likely to use it to make tools and such than you are to make something sale worthy
What settings do I use on the front panel
I have the same printer and I followed your video to a T but for some reason when I send to print, it won’t work. Any idea what I can do?
