My Dad owned a 108-3 when I was a young kid (N519C). It was scrapped about 10 years after he and my uncle, who was a co-owner and had worked as a draftsman for Stinson Aircraft Company after World War II, sold it. I still love Stinsons and would love to own one some day.

Thank you. Fantastic video! Absolutely beautiful 108! Really appreciate the refreshingly candid appraisal of vintage aircraft restoration. Hope this owner enjoys his aircraft for many years to come.

The beautiful wood is Bubinga. What a beautiful airplane. I wish I had one like that. In fact I wish I had a Stinson period. I love the fact he tells us not to do what he did and just spend time with your wife. But my wife loves to travel and I would do this to a Stinson in order to get a plane I knew would be basically new and safe. If he ever sells this plane whoever buys it is going to have the Best Stinson on Planet Earth. This man did such a beautiful and detailed job on this wonderful plane. Stinsons are my favorite plane ever built. However at 74 I am too old to do this. I rent a guys Cessna 180 when we want to do a week of sight seeing so I will have to stay with that. Thanks for this video. Looking at this plane and knowing how much money, hard work and years of labor he put into this I think this man should be very proud of this plane. Great video.

My Grandpa Raymond Stinson, Eddie’s step son, would have loved this. He was mentored by Eddie since an early age. I feel like he would’ve been in awe of this.

Cool my grandfather was vice president of the stinson operators association from the early 30s and flew the older radial ones as air taxis based out of detroit

This brings back so many memories, it was the first restoration I had ever worked on as a kid and it even has the original franklin engine

That is beautiful. I am a RC MODEL builder and flyer. I have a set of plans for a 1/4 scale version of the 108-2 but a easy mod on the vert stab to make a -3. I would love to model it after yours.

Preston tucker bought the Franklin engine co in 1948 and converted the factory into building watercooled Franklin engines for the tucker automobile 🚘. After the big three,(like our government today), bankrupted him, Franklin bought it back.

Gorgeous aircraft! I know a guy that built an airplane and then he sold it. Never even flew it, he just liked the process of working and creating something. As a pilot, I don't understand that, but I can respect it.

15:35 he prefers to spend his time with his wife rather than rebuilding an aircraft. That man has his priorities right. You could always buy an aircraft, they come and go, but a good wife that you both want to spend time together (after many years together) cannot be bought with money.

Have you looked at stinsonowners.org for the section on mechanics & people availayto do that? You can also ask on the forum there or on the Facebook page.

  • @fabricationhintstipsmisc6192

Beautiful job!! Are you an A&P or do you have someone to sign off the work you did?
I'm interested in a 108-2. I'm mechanically capable, but I'm not an AP, etc.
