    My experience of Liverpool Docks is somewhat different! I went on a charter train which ended up in Seaforth Container terminal, amongst other locations. We had to access the docks by the Bootle branch which in railway terms is known as "bomb alley" because trains are regularly attacked by having objects thrown down on top of them! Indeed, the coach I was in had a shopping trolley dropped onto the roof! We were strongly warned NOT to open any windows!

    When you strapped up, I noted that you didn't put on any straps at the ends to stop the steel moving forwards or backwards. Was there a reason? Obviously the steel did not move but I hear horror stories about what can happen when it does.

      @curnock Well they would as the people who'd say it had their mind 'stuck in the sand' with quality rose tinted glasses thrown in. It's happened everywhere in the west, blame environmental laws aka green party agenda since the Paris agreement the UK signed.... very BAD IDEA. With Port Talbot on the way out (Chinese owned % shares) from the planned full stop producing raw steel to 'recycling steel' jobs gone I'd say the writing is on the wall... it's all going to go to the wall, forget about having any 1st tier industry in the UK... the government is moving along nicely with it plans. Liverpool got a front row seat to this in the late 1970's into the 1980's & it was 3rd world area for over 20yrs. Port talbot is next.... a job black out zone with Llanelli as like blackpool.

  • @owenward7846
    @owenward7846 Před měsícem +1

    100% steel on steel rule as on ‘sharp’ plate steel like this there always runs the risk of snapping or wearing through the corner boards.
    Also straps have a tension force and lashing capacity, for example (I know yours are 5t straps) but… a regular 2t standard tension force strap (as if pulled hook to hook) only has about 250kg lashing (how you used them over the steel) capacity so technically you’d need 4 over it to secure 1 ton ( I hope this makes sense) these figures can be found on the little blue tag that should be on the bottom of each of your straps and are measured in DaN
    I’m not in anyway complaining or moaning just trying to help a fellow driver and save you getting in any gravy with the law enforcement and of course for your own safety 👌
    I’d definitely chain in future just my advice for all round better security, less risk of snapping and load sliding ☺️
