Will LaPorta Break ALL Rookie Tight End Records? I always felt this was the hardest position to translate early in the NFL... You have to know run and pass blocking schemes, be a good route runner, and be a reliable catcher.
I don't know if LaPorta can break all records for a rookie TE but I do believe he is capable of breaking them.
I agree Sam LaPorta is the next great TE. I'm so happy he's a Detroit Lion!
And that he's not the only young star on the team. This team has several of them. Mostly on offense. Branch and probably Hutchinson are probably the only ones I'd call potential stars in the making on defense at the moment. @lisadelorenzo8539
Lions passed on Carter and Bijon and picked up two instead - Gibbs and LaPorta. Brad Holmes cooks like a master chef
Don't forget Brian branch too who is becoming one of the best safetys in the league

LaPorta was an excellent free safety in high school, he had 14 ints in his 2 varsity seasons. I think this really helps him read coverages

I always love people that not only notice but highlight the effort plays. Sam is blocking and then running downfield to throw a secondary and tertiary block? Sure it may seem boring to some but it is my oxygen. If you would be willing to do a video on Sewell’s run/pass blocking it would be much appreciated by Lions faithful
As a former player myself I know just how much it takes to make those little effort plays even if it’s only a 5 yard gain… coaches love that stuff more than any flash play. I’ve noticed a common theme about lions players. Just about all of them show that same madman effort that goes unnoticed at times… You’re not the first person that has asked about Sewell! I know my film schedule is going to be hectic with some very high level matchups coming up soon but if I can fit Sewell in there I gotcha! They play Dallas in two weeks so he’ll have some snaps against possibly both Danielle Hunter and Micah, I may try to fit that in for sure if I can!
@@24hoursports I appreciate the hell out of the way you analyze the game, and to be honest you being a former player absolutely makes sense with your devotion to what others call "the little things".
I had to watch years of Lions ball without consistent receiver run blocking and zero, ZERO rundowns should a back slip to the second level. The team never looked like they played for each other, sloppy penalties caused a laundry littered field weekly, and it was bad enough to a point where Big Boy was buying Silverdome tickets so fans at home could even watch the game on TV.
2021 finally brought a change at the head coach and GM level (many positional coaches as well), but it was the change in philosophy of Sheila Hamp that did it. She finally hired two "football guys" in Holmes and Campbell and immediately backed off and said "Do what you need to do, tell me what checks to sign" and the immediate things I noticed were twofold.
The roster was severely depleted and hamstrung on horrid contract situations thanks to the immaculate job by QuinnTricia, but they actually tried for each other on the field. Even when it seemed like there was zero reason for true hope, at 0-10-1 and these young SOBs under Dan Campbell had the Vikings come into their house and gave their all for a come from behind TD drive to Amon Ra St Brown with 0:00 on the clock. That moment will live forever in my heart, and it and many other moments like it have led to a genuine culture which causes players like Jameson Williams, 12th overall pick and stud receiver out of Alabama, to set aside personal ambition in favor of team success and personally escort David Montgomery 75 yards to pay dirt.
All that to say once again I appreciate the hell out of your style and depth of analysis, and the people doing "the little things" don't go unnoticed by all.
P.S. Please do not rush yourself on Sewell, I understand you cover players/teams league wide and would rather you approach the video on your own mindset rather than feeling pushed by myself or anyone else.
Go through individual players after the season. Really break teams and good players down. It'll give you content for the slow times when there isn't a lot of news.

Based on that timeline which you listed above it’s evident just what the fans of Detroit have had to endure. Like you aforementioned, Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell have constructed an entire culture shift, I’ve always wondered what makes this team shift to certain players but the more I watch tape I see that they are dead serious when they talk about “grit and determination.” It’s gotten to a point where it’s now contagious on the field and even guys like Jameson Williams who should figuratively be “looking pretty” is getting in on the action himself.
Once again, thanks for the feedback! These film breakdowns take the most time out of any content that I make by far so it’s only right that I do them to the best of my ability! There’s still room to grow and that’s the beauty of it.
