Great Tutorial indeed, but for the last part where you created a manual sphere for space background it's not required, there is an option in HDRI, click on your HDRI plugin background in the viewport and in options click on the advanced drop-down menu and there is an option called "Use camera Projection", it will create a proper sphere and will eliminate the half sphere issue.

Another great video as always. I love your energy, I would like to make a request, trusting your expertise. I couldn't find anywhere how to solve the shadow catcher problem in UE. How can we get a separate shadow with alpha? There are ridiculous solutions on CZcams and forums such as doing it with chroma key. There must be a more logical way. How do you handle this in your professional work? It would be great if you could make a video on this subject.

If you are path tracing your renders, you can also just set the Geometry of the HDRI backdrop to Holdout. You get the same result with the added control of the HDRI backdrop's rotation abilities. Watch out if your HDRI backdrop is visible through glass though, holdout doesn't remove it from refraction rays entirely.
If you aren't path tracing, you can turn on "Only Owner See" on the Geometry of the HDRI backdrop. This also gives you the same result.

Hopefully this will clear the skylight up for people. I've seen the HDRI Backdrop be recommended to be used countless times just for lighting, even when the BG wasn't even visible in the shot.

Great tutorial, thanks! Can you cover how to render an image with an alpha and shadow catcher please?

Love the videos. I'm a newbie and I'm confused about the HDRI backgrounds - no matter which way you do them. I've been using the HDRI backdrop and found that the environment wasn't picking up the reflections - so i went into the sky object under the HDRI backdrop plugin and inserted the HDRI image into that as well. The default was blank - and seemed to be emitting only white in the reflections. Once i replaced that- the reflections seemed to be accurate in the scene. If that makes sense. But every video you've done- you don't do that. Do you just insert the HDR image in the top level of the HDRI backdrop object and that's it? Also how would you just replace the background with an HDR and NOT have it affect the scene - its basically jsut a background image. THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT WORK.

What I would like to learn how to do is just a normal spray. If you have 3dsmax and you take super spray, I would like to have that in UE. Dont even need anything fancy, a point where the spray comes out, particles spread a bit and after XX frames, they vanish. No need for gravity, the particles dont need to stick on a surface, they dont need to bounce off. Is this really hard to make? A customer asked for a surface to be coated in an animation, now I have a plane which scales up but there is no other movement "on the spray/texture" and it looks bad.... so bad :)
