- We often talk about the latest expensive mountain bikes on GMBN and are often asked to feature cheaper, more entry-level bikes on the channel. So what do you get for your cash when going for entry level or a mid level bike? We teamed up with Polygon to show a few examples of what materials and components you can find on these types of bikes.

If you look at the spectrum of parts yea there are three levels for instance with SRAM NX GX XO1 I got a YT Jeffsy that came with NX you can go lower than this stuff but it will start to fall apart within a single season of riding and you will constantly be having issues I know my friend got a 500 dollar hardtail and it is falling apart

Cool to see polygon getting out there and sponsoring so much content this year. Certainly making some really accessible and beautifully painted bikes. Definitely has me looking at them a little more closely than in years past.
I purchased their dirt jumper and Iâm pretty happy.
The way you said the prices was so strange, it almost seemed like you didn't want to say hundred or thousand. I have no idea why. Edit: didnt help that blake seemed to drop a digit in dollars making it sound like it was a 300 dollar bike

I really like alloy / metal frames. I can't get around spending so much for a carbon frame and then live in the terror of cracking it. I'm not shy of running alpine trails with plenty of sharp pointy rocks. This summer my alloy frame got scratched pretty good and I'm fairly worried a carbon would have cracked and made me cry hard. For the scratches on alloy the solution is easy: by a ton of GMBN stickers and cover the scratches! Better than new! (Yes I've just got my stickers yesterday and will apply them ASAP).
Also Alu is a helluva lot more environmentally friendly.
Aren't most manufacturers doing life time warranties on carbon frames these days? Genuine question.

Hey guys, thank you for the review. I've got a D7 a month ago and already upgraded it - installed new blue grips))) it's a very good bike and I enjoy riding it very much.
Polygon Reppin'! Love my Siskiu N8. No other brand could beat the price for the spec. Couldn't really ask for more for my first full sus, as someone with a restricted budget.
How about united clovis 6.10 its a hardtail bike
2:09 wooden stick to support the bike noice. had been watching Blake and Neil all the videos and relay helped me getting back to my child hood cycling memories. now i bought my polygon cascade to start again what was a part of me once (cycling) I already Live in mountains so going to try to learn all skills. love from INDIA
High level hard tail or low level full sus??
I would rather have a really nice hardtail
incredibly tough choice. Suppose it comes down to where and how you intend to ride your bike. Just earlier this year I was in the same boat. For the same price, you will get better components. However, if you buy smart and get full sus that prioritized frame over components, you will then have a bike that you can upgrade over time as needed.
Rougher trails should probably go for full sus, smoother is hardtail
@@mojaverc1585 Wait till your knees are gone, you'll be saving hard for full sus!
computerbob06 I have an older mid level dual suspension and i would never get another hardtail but i would rather have a really nice dirt jumper than a crappy cross country dual suspension.
Hardtail for all round but if you only ride rough trails a full sus

Going forward will get something with longer travel for all the chunk where I live and of course because I love jumps. Sick video thanks.
Finalllyyy.....ibwas looking a review of siskiu d7 and you guys have made it thank you so much gmbn

Great video as always, even if Polygon is not available in Canada,i would like to see a comparison between a 2021 entry level full suspension and a 8-10 years old top tire bike
I realize this is a comment from 2 years ago, but MEC sells Polygon bikes.
I run a Siskiu T8. I have upgraded the basics and put volume spacers in both forks and rear shock. These are amazing bikes for the money. Yes I'd like a full carbon dual sus bike but the covid tax has put these out of reach of most people. My T8 is solid, reliable and perfect for my skill.
Got my N7 a month ago. It rips. Very happy with the Polygon brand.
There is also a Siskiu D6 and D5, that would be the actual "entry level". These are both just different levels of mid-range

Polygon is definitely onto something with their bike selections. Now if they can only keep them in stock long enough for me to pick up an XL.
Good luck Lol
I waited on the T7 to come back in stock in a Large frame from for over a month and in that time just saved up enough money to order a Canyon Neuron 7. I was really interested in that T7 but unable/unwilling to wait for it to come back in stock. They look like great bikes for the price
Well, the demand in the production country is really high due covid-19. People switching from motorize blvehicle to bike. So, might have to wait a lil longer
Polygon is Indonesian Brand
Well for polygon, the stock was keep low due to the high demand, especially for indonesian costumer since Polygon was made in indonesia and the bike trend and deman in there was very high
I used to own a 2019 Siskiu N9, I miss that bike
I first pre-ordered a 2021 D7 in august, then the 2021 T7 came out and available for pre-order so i canceled the D7 order and am waiting for it to get shipped around oct 4th,cant wait to see what the T7 is about for the price, alot of people been talking about this brand and what you get for your money, good review !
Omg polygon!!! I have a 2017 Siskiu D7 and 2017 Collosus T8. My Siskiu D7 came with an xt rear derailleur but it's 2x10. Polygon is my favourite brand just because their bikes tend to be priced lower than everyone else for the same components.
I wish I had that good of a Full Suspension XCđalways waned a Polygon bike the T8 is dope
Interesting video. Would love to hear you go a bit more in-depth in comparing the actual ride experience between these cheaper/mid-range bikes and those upper range stuff you often use in GMBN. Like, for example, if you rode the N9 and a $5000-7000 bike blindfolded, what would be the key differences you'd spot right away? Or does it simply come down to more durable parts etc. instead of a drastically different ride experience?
if you rode the N9 and a $5000-7000 bike blindfolded, the key difference would be that you hit a tree fast vs really fast.
My âentry levelâ Stumpjumper still cost 4K CDN. Only things Iâd change are the rotors and maybe carbon bars to help dampen some vibration.
Never thought polygon will have its own video from gmbn đ
Great video aimed at the price range most mortals will be looking at. Just shows its about the bike and not the name. Even so called budget ranges are coming with great spec kit and geometry. Sensible and informative vid guys. Keep safe all
Look at the Marin alpine trail series. They just updated geo and get some damn aggressive numbers and kit for a super competitive price
When entry level is 1500 you know you picked the wrong hobby
1500 isnât that much
Guys! Why didn't you throw Polygon in the title?! I have been shopping my first full suspension for months. Trail riding for 2 years on a hardtail. My son has started riding with me so the requirement to buy two bikes demanded smart shopping. I'm sure most of us still have moments of bewilderment by the price of "entry" bikes. In my journey of riding, maintenance, and skill improvements the two of you have always been my favorites in video's and well delivered content. You can only imagine how stoked I was to see you guys riding the brand and touching on the bikes I have come to believe are truly the best bang for your buck, no compromise, entry/mid entry, quality bike. I'm talking about the 2021 Siskiu T8 and the the T7. (Not shown here) I loved this video and would implore you to add Polygon to the title. There is a serious shortage of content on these bikes and they deserve the attention. Your views and likes are sure to go up! My T8 is on pre-order and a T7 is going in the cart on availability. Keep the content coming. Actually now that I think about the fact I haven't secured my T7, maybe wait a month. Thanks!
The Dutch tilt shots and eerie music made me unsettled during the intro lol. Great video!

Own an N8 and its a beast, can't believe they are reviewing these bikes! Best value for the money
Love the videos these two guys do.
This review was not good! Four ads and little insight.
At 2:04 Recon RL Silver, not Gold. Should specify.
Deore rd - essentially the same as the XT model apart from the lack of bearings in the jockey wheels, and you should specify that it has the clutch.
M200 brakes - no such thing. It's MT200, and then either MT201 or MT200 levers (difference is the MT200 are steel, which rust, MT201 doesn't). I believe these are in fact MT201
Hubs - should mention that these are thru-axle and boost. Quite a bit above entry-level.
Finishing kit from Entity - this is Polygon's own brand. Should specify.
Siskiu N9 - the D7 is also tapered headset. But the frame geometry of an Enduro bike is different! That's why they weigh the same.
Also you should mention that the fork is 36mm and obviously much much stiffer and more robust than the 32mm Recon. Saying they are both 'big brand' is ridiculous. Rockshox makes some really low grade stuff. This one is very much 'entry-level'. The Fox is a higher grade, and a piggy-back shock more expensive than the basic lock-out model on the D7. The reason they weigh the same is that one is a heavy-grade enduro bike with relatively light components, whereas the other is lighter-duty bike with cheaper heavier components.
Brakes - yes they are TRP but they are a higher grade than the Shimano MT200, in that they are 4-piston.
You should also mention that the difference between 11-speed and 12-speed is the 10t cog rather than the 11t cog at the bottom.
T8 yes it's heavier because it doesn't have the higher grade components of the N9 but it's more robust than the D7.
very detailed than this vidđđ
Watch the vid then come to the comments for the real review. Thanks dude, very helpful
When this comment is the real review of the bikes đ€Ł
@@julianmcgregor7949 not really a review but basically Polygon have the Xtrada hardtail, 5 & 6 are the same frame, 5 is 2x10 XCM fork, 6 is 1x11 or 2x11 XCR, also clutch derailleur . I kinda like the 5 but the fork is best upgraded to something better like Epixon/Raidon/Recon RL.
Xtrada 7 is 1x12 and thru axle frame, which is better but kinda overkill.
Syncline is the carbon frame (same geometry) and not really worth it for most people as you really need a bunch of expensive components bro make carbon MTB worthwhile .
Siskiu has the D5 which is kind of a basic spec with the bad XCM fork, qr axle, 2x9 drivetrain. D7 is ta frame, 1x11 and good enough suspension. It might be sold without dropper post in some countries. D6 isn't made any more for 2021.
D series is full sus XC geometry.
T series is full sus trail geometry so a bit more travel but T7 is largely the same components as D7, just more travel. Except you do get a 12 speed drive train and 4 piston rear brakes, which at the US price difference of $100 is a steal given the overall beefed up ness
All these bikes are good if you pay a good price. Wrong price and not so much. But if your bike says Trek then people will be happy to pay more for the same or less. polygon not so much.
T8 is basically the same as T7 with slightly better suspension, i.e. fox rhythm 34 up front, which is definitely better than the recon 32 rl but it's not a top of the line fork (you want fox float or RockShox charger). Also rear shock is better, but I'd kinda save the $500 and upgrade later (though the 32mm steel stanchions on the T7 definitely count as dated now)
The N series (N8 N9) is just longer travel and better suspension generally but as noted in the video the N9 still is not the top of the range damper in the fork, so potentially you can do better even with a T7 and new suspension, but it depends on pricing again..
.
Don't ruin it mate. I'm just happy they dared to show a recon on gmbn. But... love your attention to details.

Not really feeling these âreviewsâ.
I canât believe Neil is saying sentences like âitâs only 11 speedâ I mean, really? đ€·ââïž An almost ÂŁ1500 bike is not âsuper affordableâ either.
A lot of names mentioned, but whatâs the differences? Anyone who doesnât know what Deore or XT means wonât have a clue.
I've gotten used to GBMN's meaning of an "affordable" bike, but saying that it's "only" an 11 speed triggered me. I can't imagine that a one gear difference will make a big change, especially on trails I would think you could barely tell the difference between a few teeth on different cassettes.
To try find some reasoning, the 11 speed will have the old style spline freehub. The 12 speed will been the microspline. Having the 11 speed rather than 12 adds an extra complexity to upgrading in the future.
There's also no reason why they would have gone with the 11 speed other than making room above it. 12 speed deore is available, and the choice of freehub design is an option when speccing the hub. It doesn't make a difference to the cost (at least at retail, perhaps for OEM it might be more expensive). If that's what they were going for though, they should have called it out as such. The majority of people interested in a budget bike are probably still riding 10 or less so really don't care if it's 11 or 12.
having recently upgraded my mtb drivetrain I believe Neil was getting at a larger sticking point than the number of cogs, gear ratios, and cadence. Its really hard to find 10 and 11 speed cassettes with a wide enough range to merit a one by system. you simply won't have an easy time finding a 50+ tooth cog to go on on bikes with less gears
Well if you donât know the difference in components you could always google it.
Lazy kids these days.
Batscat May as well say why bother making a comparison vid because people can just google it?
Cool video guys! đđ cheerzđŻ
GOODNESS, you guys look SHARP aboard Polygon Bikes! đ€Ż
Just ordered the N9 and I got to say, that is not mid range, for me its ultra high range but I still bought it lol đ
Polygon Xquarone is high end level
I actually just got a 2021 T7 which is another great value bike with decent components and better color scheme than the t8 IMO
I love Polygon Bikes. I like their "simple" frames.
You Must Be To Thank You For Polygon Because Polygon From My Country đźđ© . Polygon Make It The Factory At Surabaya City, Indonesia.
I appreciate the reviews of the two bikes, but can you really âcompareâ a 120mm travel bike to a 170mm travel bike? A better comparison would have been between 2 of the exact same bike models with different build kits.
Extra travel is what your extra money is buying you. Surely that is the point if this video?
Well mostly the point of the video is to advertise Polygon bikes. If they compared similar class bikes of different specs they wouldnât be able to advertise the whole range I guess?
Tbf they didnât really even comment on how they rode, just described all the components
give "Polygon" on the tittle, n you will got 1M...... comment from +62 people!
anjir HAHAHAHAHAAHA
sane +62 person here. can confirm.

Love you guys for keeping budget in mind need more videos like this
Except not really âbudgetâ for the majority of people...
@@explosivemallard8038 here too broh coz in my country India we get 500usd salary and the bikes cost 2times more due to tax
Explosive Mallard dude if youâre a mountain biker and want an entry level new double suspension bike that wonât disintegrate when you take it to some jumps, you have to be ready to spend a good amount of money
Alex Grant Right. This what Iâm pointing out. This isnât anything close to âbudgetâ.
Great review. Be nice to see you guys do an in-depth review on the Siskiu d7 fingers crossed đ€đ
Hi guys, nice vid on affordable bikes, one question though... I always thought that 120 mil front suspension was a class 4 bike, only capable of jumping 50 cm... Could you please comment on that ? Btw, keep up the excellent work, lads ! đ”đŒ
and for once Neil gets the entry level bike
Im so proud..local product Indonesia was review in GMBN đ
Ini iklan broh, Polygon bayar gmbn
I just got mid range polygon bike can't wait for it to come in
Me: Yo bike, where's your sus?
Among us addicts: IMPOSTER!IMPOSTER! HE'S THE IMPOSTER
Everyone else: We mean SUSpension.
Love đ polygon
So stoked to see more polygon on the channel! Just grabbed a D7 for the GF and a T8 for myself.
D&B always goes so well with MTB
U need to put "Polygon New bikes" on the title.
And then thereâs me watching this with a ÂŁ350 hardtail đ

Thanks for showcasing some of the more attainable bikes for the average rider
Two different travel bikes for different approaches . The longer travel can blast through more of the tough stuff where the short travel bike you have to tone it down a bit but can go most places as long as you pick your spots and slow the speed down . It seems the trend for now is shorter travel bikes as many bikers are not blasters and most trails are not off the side of a mountain .
