the thing that always kills me about the Piers part is how there's no voice acting yet they went out of their way to add the awkward foot stomps and the mic creaking it's like the "songs without the instrumental" meme but reversed and it makes me loose my mind everytime

At one moment, we could accept it. But Roxie, Elesa, Ghetsis and Village Bridge just make this matter worse. They all had small voice over sprinkled which made it more lively

The worst part is, I thought all they did was bounce twice to say they are looking at you endearingly (I forgot they turned their head in Let’s Go) and now, I didn’t realise that Sw/Sh’s idea of looking endearing was a bare minimum rotate.
good thing I intentionally never even touched Pokemon-amie, the camp and other similar shits.
The game are really easy as they are, let alone having your pokemon dodge automatically or resisting with 1 HP.

The thing that I hate about pokemon camp is that they didn't bother to give the pokemon any kind of holding animation and instead just attached the ball to a part of the pokemon's model.
The pokemon looking back you with maxed friendship was one of the cutest things in gen 7, now it just hops, like...why?
The hop is just the attack animation played twice. Simple copy and paste job. They couldn’t be bothered to copy and paste the code from the last game, as this was somehow even easier.

Yosh it probably was, here’s what I think:
Gamefreak was making SwSh as a 3Ds game and when they heard about the Switch and thought it would flop but it didn’t so they had to turn it into a Switch game to where they didn’t have enough time to add all Pokémon.

GameFreak said they were working on high quality animations for the limited selection of Pokémon, but the animations are almost entirely lifted from previous games (except for new Pokémon obviously). This makes the special animations segment that much more funny

In Sun and Moon, Zeraora's special move animation shows them charging up their fists with electricity before hitting the ground, sending a ray of thunder towards their opponent. The electricity is visibly surrounding their fists, and it looks like they are charging themselves up before attacking you.
In Sword and Shield, which is a game on the NINTENDO SWITCH, which removed Nat Dex to focus on BETTER ANIMATIONS, Zeraora's special attack animation does not have the lighting surrounding their fists, meaning that it just looks stupid.
They REMOVED the lightning in a pokemon title on the nintendo switch that promised good graphics. When the lightning was included in a past title. Meaning that they had the option to keep the awesomeness of Zeraora's special attack, or improve on it, and they purposefully chose to put in as little effort as possible.
I know that this is a small detail, but the fact that the graphics of an older game look better than the graphics of a newer game is disappointing.

I understand how bad this situation is. The lack of love this game has is easy to spot, I was able to spot some odd animations during my first playthrough. The thing with Yamper? Yeah, in the 2D games, you could kinda get away with that, but not in 3D games. I don't care if you fade to black, I know Yamper did nothing but stare at that damn wall. If they complain by saying they didn't have enough time to animate or add every single pokemon, then they should remember, WE DON'T NEED A POKEMON GAME EVERY CHRISTMAS! I'm honestly not too bothered by dexit, despite most of my favourites getting cut (rip krookodile) but leaving out some key things in the game just looks lazy. They really need to sort their shit out.

What Nintendo needs to realise is that companies like Gamefreak need more time then they're given, or else their games lose quality. Yeah, no one really uses Ditto, but if it's transformed into any legendary, it should be fully capable of using the exclusive move, including the animation, even if it's copy/pasted. My point is, it would be much better if they took their time instead of rushing to have these games out.

Just think about it: No new gen = no new merchandise, no new cards for the tdc, no animated series etc. I just hope they stop making new games for 2/3 years and take as much time as they want to make a new well done pokemon game, but i don't think they will. So yes, we'll probably keep playing fine games, with their problems and not so detailed

I like how Colosseum and Gale of Darkness have better and more unique animations despite being over 10 years old and not even being a main series Pokémon game. They also innovated more on the Pokémon formula in a way that’s fun and not invasive. It’s ridiculous that Pokémon is one of the most profitable franchises and yet it cuts every corner until it’s just a bland and hand holdy circle.
Shadow Pokemon are tedious as fuck. I'd say Totem Pokemon/Ultra Necrozma were better designed difficulty, but gen 7 is part of the Poke Dark Age so take it worth a grain of salt.

1:30 this scenes was particularly funny to me, the fact you have the sound of the crowd cheering/booing, the sound of the microphone and his steps, but there’s no singing vocals, it’s completely off-putting in a comical way.
I can't believe the DS has better animations than this...

@Chris C They definitly weren't as consistent after Gen 5. I would say that Sun and Moor are among the best games yet, outside of the questionable Pokémon designs. Also the starters got much worse in my opinion with each generation.

Just think gamefreak trying to create their own IP but Pokémon shouldn’t take a dip in quality because they barely have enough staff to make Pokémon. Nintendo should somehow legally try to create the Pokémon games themselves. Like the breath of the wild game makers.

To be fair I recently learned pokemon animations are actually handled by creatures inc alongside their models not GF. However, you can still blame stuff like robotic track animations of npcs and n64 trees on GF they handle that stuff.

The 3DS game had a more fitting art style and did a better job reaching the systems full capabilities. The Switch is capable of so much, yet it looks like a budget PS2 game from 2002.
It's definitely NOT nostalgia in this sad case... Gen 6 and 7 were far more polished and feature filled than Sword and Shield.... So was Gen 5 and evidently even Gen 4?
I honestly think that buying SwSh for a kid over something like Sun and Moon is borderline repulsive... At least get them Let’s Go or the Diamond/Pearl Remakes. They're still lacking, but those games are at least made at a professional-level. They have SOME effort put in. I can't compare anything in those games to one of the ugliest games on the N64, for example... (This shouldn't even be a standard, but SwSh really does go that low at times.)
