In this video I have nearly finished the cylinder head casting, machining the safety valve base and drilling and tapping the cylinder head, still need to finish the governor side of things
Just checked my photos, I was working on these exact parts 10 years ago and running on air soon after. All done on a Myford lathe as i didn't have a milling ma hine at the time. You'll soon have it running too. Keep it up.
One thing we found useful is having two different top covers for the safety valves. Having one machined as on the full size example and another threaded for a pair of 1/8bsp off the shelf safety valves. It makes it so much easier to get it tested and if one fails you can just unscrew it and replace it with another £8 valve from anywhere, and you can swap the top plates for display. You also don't have to put the effort in to trying to set up the original style valves in miniature, which can be a pain
Really impressed with this build you have done a really great job on it i have just fiished watching all videos after about 7 day's and i am looking forward to seeing it in steam in the near future 👍🚂
24:22 Hi Julian , I think that you need to tram your mill column because your 2"insert cutter is cutting quite badly on the outgoing side, good luck with your project .Regards bouncer511
Yes, I noticed that I will check it since I did it last time. I have moved the milling machine, so it may be out. Thank you, and thank you for watching 👍🏻
