  • There are MANY Pokémon who could use the boost of a different ability to help them become better competitively. We are going through a handful in this video and fitting mons to potential new abilities!
Leave a suggestion in the comments of a mon you want to see get a new ability and I'll include one in the next video.

A Pokémon that is sorely lacking in the Ability department is Delibird.
I feel instead of a 2nd Ability that prevents Sleep he could get Unaware. He seems to not really be aware of his Present possibly being an explosive.
There's also Unburden since he'll likely move faster after lightening its load of presents.

Ability as holiday spirit summons snow with increasing odds of secondary effects of moves happening twice (like serene grace) but affects everyone on field till snow is active. @@doozsromhacks what do you mean make no sense bru? Clear Body doesn't really have a requirement shared between its Users(Tentacruel, Metagross, Regis, Dragapult, etc.) so I don't see why it doesn't fit. Also it fits thematically since Zangoose gets Immunity to prevent Poisoning. Immunity to Intimidate is also really good.
If you want it to be competitively viable than just slap Huge Power/Multiscale/Marvel Scale/Intimidate/Speed Boost on it.
Strong Jaw doesn't even help it that much either, only Poison Fang get STAB, elemental Fangs fired from 100 ATK ain't gonna budge anything half tanky, Crunch and Psychic Fangs fair much better but still not great.

    • @ednorthon
      @ednorthon Před 4 měsíci +1

@@doozsromhacks I would like to know why Clear Body doesn't make sense since snakes are usually spotless due to their scale. Not getting Intimidate'd is also a nice plus on the side. Not randomly get - stat from all the random moves do help too.
Both abilities I called for are to counter/play into Zangoose's(Immunity + Toxic Boost) which makes absolute sense since they are sworn enemies.
This video is solely based on changes to ability so bring up DDance here is irrelevant, we can only based of what the Pokemon can already learn. If not then this video would be named "How I would buff these Pokemon competitively", which most of the Pokemons here need tbh.
Unburden could be good on it since you can get 130 SPE but it is a bit niche since Seviper doesn''t have great stat anywhere else (100 mixed offense + pretty frail)

It probably has happened outside the weather abilities, but I can't really think of an example. I honestly think Leafeon and Glaceon need better abilities that aren’t relying on weather set ups. I think Leafeon should get sharpness since it gets access to Swords Dance, Leaf Blade, and X-Scissors. Glaceon I think should get refrigerate mostly cuz I think it’s a good strong ability for ice types and Glaceon can have another strong move and get access to Hyper Voice like slyveon as well make use of its 130 sp. atk

I think your Feraligator suggestion is nice thematically, but really mechanically it's just not there as the moves that you want to boost get better boosted by Sheer Force + Life Orb and it enables more of his kit. I think if anything Feraligator really needs the Dark Type and that's it, or swift swim since you do not wanna see a gator in your waters.
Your Sandslash and Doublade suggestions are fire and really good ideas now that we have better abilities.
If you want a mon to rework abilities for, Aerodactyle suffers so bad. Who the fruit uses Pressure or Unnerve and it lacks any STAB options for Rock Head. Can Game Freak stop screwing around with this mon? They also took away Double Edge.

Analytic has always been mediocre on starmie but it has its benefits, so why don’t we just give it the better version so it can compete with power creep? i feel like meteor beam sets would be dangerous to switch into and rapid spin can let it outspeed scarfers and provide utility. Ampharos could really use a new ability, especially in a post-mega world. Static is nice but it doesn’t have the bulk nor recovery to make use of it, and Plus is Plus.
I suggest *Electric Surge* since the options for Electric Terrain setter is quite sparse and right now is just Pincurchin (who doesn’t even have Volt Switch), it would be the go-to setter because of this. Bonus points for giving its pre-evos Fluffy.
We all know how abysmal Wigglytuff’s bulk is, even with the 140 HP so hear me out on this one.
Let’s replace HA Frisk with *Fur Coat* actually justifiable choice don’t worry . This alone single handedly makes a huge difference and make it actually physically bulky now.
Maybe give it STABs Boomburst and Moonblast and buff its Sp. Atk (85 > 90/95) for damage output and Sp. Def (50 > 70/75) to further support its new found bulk and it’s good to go.
You can easily give Golisopod a HA, between *Shell Armor (actually usable typing and bulk for ability to work), Intimidate, Tough Claws, Defiant, or even Multiscale* the choice is yours.
    EDIT:

it needs a better move pool. It leans heavily into being a bulky physical attacker but only really learns normal and fire moves that are physical plus Trailblaze and Dig. Its support move pool is also limited to wish and will o wisp.
Gen 9 at least had the courtesy of giving it Trailblaze, but it probably needs EQ (or a similarly strong coverage option) and bulk up or something.
I don't see Flareon using EQ since it seems way too frail to actually have it

Replace Guts with Fur coat, give it Sacred Fire, Bitter blade (it can use its claws 😊) and tidy up, and some other physical coverage moves.
