This is the most painful defeat since Argentina with Scola beat us. Huge respect for Italians, they fought like their life is depending on that game. So good defense, very good 3p decided the game and Serbian lack of motivation and energy for some reason.. Very disappointed, this is a shock for the whole country.
We were missing Bogdan Bogdanovic big time! Jokic could not do it with just a bit help of Micic. And also Nedovic got injured in the middle of the tournament. We will come stronger next time, good luck to all countries, it is an entertaining tournament, let the best win but I will root for the Italians till the end. Their players were playing this game with such passion and fight, also their coach bought me with his tears (maybe those tears gave players extra motivation), I even told my buddy I feel so bad for him I kinda wanna cheer for Italy.

Mistake was that opponent was playing with all heart plus they really hit way too many three points, they fired 38 shots for 3 like in NBA where you have 8more minutes of play...

Congrats to Italy! Seeing how spectacular Serbia was against Finland, I take my hat off. I have always known that Italy is good in basketball, but this is much bigger than that.
It is difficult to say on the basis of this clip, what happened on 4th quarter, but I am sad for Serbians that this tournament format is so harsh. It is exciting, but it is evident that Serbia would deserve a second chance, like those teams who lost on the group phase. The format is same for everybody, but it would have been very interesting to see Serbia on the final phases. Next time!
This kinda surprises are nice tho. I mean, I kinda wanted and for sure expected Serbia to win tbh. But this results make this tournament exciting as opposed to leagues and tournaments where you mostly know how things are gonna go. It demonstrate how competitive it is and that again is exciting

Italy traditionally suffers with big-sized and/or strongly athletic teams and players, like now France. If Italy is allowed time to organize defense, and plays technically clean, it is hard for opponents! Great game indeed

As far as my team is concerned, I don't know why I hoped we'll win the championship with only one guy who can score open threes (Kalinic) and zero guys who can score a guarded three...
Pešić is a legend, he won WC with us, Eurobasket with Germany, 2x Euroleague, but I can't remember if he won anything in the past 20 years... He was the goat, but his time might have passed, keeping Jokić on the bench that long was detrimental...
P.S We're much better with two players less and half the court

@@Crrazzyrulezz We had one, Bogdanović, but he is our second best player and by far the best three point shooter. Milutinov was sick in the first few matches, but it's hard to say if it is justified or not. Bjelica was also hurt, but he's played terribly for the last 3 years so it wouldn't make the difference.
Bogdanović was needed really, really bad, but we depend too much on 2 players. Even with him I wouldn't bet on beating Australia (obviously not on this competition), Slovenia or France.
imo if a team lacks so much team spirit and loses its confidence this easily (after Spissu got hot as a firecracker Serbia started playing like they lost the game already, rushing every possession for no reason) I think the coach has big responsibilities. to be honest I don't know who Pesic is but if he's been coach of Serbia for the last 3 years when they didn't even qualify for the olympics nor gone any deeper than the ro16 in eurobasket, I would consider his work as a failure

Twenty years ago he might have been the best coach in the world. However, last major result was 20 years ago, he should've been long retired. But we have a problem with coaches as well, all the greatest ones (and we had a lot of great ones) are retired and and the new ones don't seem promising... I hope we won't take foreigners for players (different skin colour is ok, but only if they were born and raised in Serbia), but a foreign coach might become a necessity. Ituidis speaks Croatian which is practically the same as Serbian so even the communication wouldn't be a problem
Big mistake not having teodosic but i dont think the serbian team chemistry is very good anyways... It is like how the Greek team was for the last 4-5 years where we thought we were the best because we had Giannis and we lost 2 times from czech republic, once in round of 16 and once they throwed us out of the olympics. We grew and learned from these mistakes and i really hope Serbia does the same and comes back stronger because it is a shame for these high talented players and the great country to be out of the tournament so soon.
