Arturia Minifuse 2
It’s pretty clear what super popular Audio interface Arturia are going after with the Minifuse 2. By offering more features than that ubiquitous wee red box as well as coming in substantially cheaper, I think it surpasses it - and most other audio interfaces at this price point!

A tutorial on how to interface this to an iPad whilst actually producing a song in GarageBand (employing the included plug-ins) would take such a review to the next level. Folks who are interested in an entry-level audio interface need more than just hardware and software; they need learning.
Great idea Chris.
I second that! 👍
FYI it doesn't work with lightning cable iPads, I bought one for my uncle and we found that out the hard way.
That’s a good idea. It might appear elementary to those used to setting up these systems for years, but it’s baffling for beginners.
@@mooseymoose/bummer. Thanks fr the heads up!
I reviewed this back 12 months ago. I swear by it. I’ve tried so many interfaces tabs this one is my main driver!
I’ve recently purchased the ‘little red box’ and very happy with the quality. I do love the output VU meter on the face of the Arturia though, and that sure is a competitive price.
Looks great, and if I didn’t have the 2i2 already I would have tried this.
I got the Minifuse 2 a couple months ago, and I’ve been very happy. My only complaint is that I wish the large meters worked for input. I don’t need a lot of precision for output; I need it for input. Other than that small complaint, it has been perfect. I plug it into my iPad, and my MIDI controller and Minilogue are already plugged into the Minifuse (one via USB and the other via 5-pin) ready to go. Headphones and monitors too. And in a moment I can plug a guitar or bass in too. And I’ve been happier with the audio quality than with the other budget audio interfaces I’ve had.
How is the build quality?
@@baymax001 No complaints. Metal enclosure with plastic faceplate. Well put together. Knobs and plugs are all solid.
Sounds like a great little interface! Pat did you ever do a vid about Apple's 'Mainstage'? Also I can't find your video on how to add 'Sections' or markers to your recording in GB? Thanks mate you rock!
Another clue that Arturia are going after Focusite is that the MiniFuse is available in the same Hifi stores that only had the Focusrite for a couple of years. :-)
I’d like it it’s super awesome 💯
I bought the MiniFuse 1 it is good for the portablity I use it in my live rig connected to my MacBook Air
How to connect with windows 11 can you please help me out with this?
I need a USB -C iPad, tired of the powered hub to power up the interface. Nice video
Seems like a bloody good interface for the price and features. Obviously would’ve liked it to be an input meter or to have the option to switch from out to in from the driver but the rest is pretty choice!
There is a cool input led on the input knobs. Haven’t seen that before.
The original mini fuse had a hardware issue where even with the volume set to minimum you could still hear audio through the speakers, albeit faintly, but still loud enough to be recorded by sensitive condenser mics. I wonder if Arturia have fixed this.
With the first Focusrite Scarlett I have the same issue
Scarlett 2i2 or Minifuse 2? I want to record guitar directly and vocals using dynamic mic.
I have the Minifuse 2. I'm liking it so far after a little over a year of use. Only thing that kinda annoys me is that the the USB-C port doesn't lock the cable in well enough. Whenever I make a slight adjustment on my desk or plug in an instrument cable, I'll sometimes physically disconnect the device by accident. I'm not sure If it's just my unit or if this is common among their products, but it's been like that since purchase.
yo killed it with the outro lol
Already bought the Volt 1, myself.
The Volt is also incredible!
Hey! Thanks for the review! I see the MiniFuse 2 has a dedicated balance knob for direct monitoring, but the MiniFuse 1 does not. Does the 1 have a way to set direct monitoring balance?
I was looking at the Minifuse 4 which is finally available. But as my focusrite is running fine I've held off as I've got enough gear to be shaking sticks at. I'm using them wrong, aren't I? 🤣
🎉thanks
Hey, is the colored Vu output meter supposed to show the meters also when the monitor volume is turned off? or have I plugged it wrongly? thanks
Hello does Fusemini supporting iPhone connection?
Is it worth the extra quids to go for an Universal Audio Volt 2 instead? I’m having a hard time deciding between that and Minifuse
It depends really. Both are similar in terms of overall sound quality, so it’s really down to the unique features they both offer.
How about the Zoom AMS-24 compare this ?
Nothing has surpassed the UA 476p for my home use yet, but it’s nice to have options.
Good to know. Thanks.
It's 3x the price of the Minifuse 2!
What’s the difference between the UA 476p and the 476? New to recording and don’t know what the difference in the inputs means.
+1 Thanks!
Connecting it to an iPad will need external power supply, won't it?
What about the ik multimedia irig pro duo? May it be a better choice, for a portable - iPad powered - live set-up?
Only Lightning based iPads. USBC port equipped iPad will be able to run this (or any audio interface) without additional power.
The iRig Pro Duo would also need power, or batteries to work with a lightning based iPad.
@@TheGaragebandGuide Thanks for the response! :)
For iOS, I think the Shure MOTIV MVI is the best matc, although that micro USD port is kind of annoying
It didn't work with the lightning cable iPad I tried it with, even with a powered hub.
@@mooseymoose/ yikes
I had just bought a volt 2 (wanted the extra input).
The Volt range is also fantastic!
SSL 2 its better?
Software bundles that are included ....are permanently accessible or it will be over after 3 months
They are yours in perpetuity.
The lower latency of the Motu M2 and it’s more accurate db meter won me over. But this still looks like a nice unit.
I also have the Motu M2 - it's brilliant!
I bought the M2 but I haven't opened it yet, I am debating whether to keep it or not. Some of the reviews I have seen for it are saying the sound output is lacking low end and is rather bland specially out the the headphone jack. Have you notice this with your unit? How do you feel about the sound output?
@@Jozzel101 I bought the Motu M2 and the Universal Audio Volt 2 for a side by side test. They both sounded incredible in my experience, but I kept the M2 based on my previous comment. The Volt 2 was returned.
@@mingistech Are you using windows or a mac, because I have been seeing a lot of people having driver issues with windows and I have windows so i am still a little concerned about trying it.
@@Jozzel101 Yes, I’m a Mac user. Macs natively support all these audio interfaces without the need to install additional drivers.
Bought an Audient ID44 and I wish I hadn't. I should have bought this interface.
The ID44 is a great interface, I wouldn’t be feeling bad about it!
@@TheGaragebandGuide it doesn’t have the headroom I thought it would have, and it adds another mixer interface on screen that I have to adjust. Seems like more hassle than value. But I am just getting into GB. We shall see. Ha!
Does this work for recording guitar into Iphone?
Yes, though you’d need to use Apple’s official adapter and plug that into the mains using an at least 10v power brick.
Tutorial on how to use and set up arturia minifuse to windows 11 plz....?
I don’t use Windows sorry.
RTFM
If the black interfaces look a little more evil, how would you categorize the white interfaces?
😂
pure and innocent, like moi
Ps: Bandzoogle is awesome! Super great customer service and great web pages👍
Hi, Is the minifuse compatible with IOS?
Yes!
@@TheGaragebandGuide Thanks. I just bought an Evo 8 but it’s going back. The Evo 4 is iOS compatible but not the 8. Very strange. I had issues with it with only one input channel working and after I did the auto gain, if with give a great balance, I’d start recording and it would go quiet.
Ps, the signal would be a weak flat line.
You didn't mention that the damn thing goes to sleep at random and has to be unplugged and replugged drat. Other wise it's great
That shouldn’t happen. What are you using it with?
Check the USB settings in your BIOS!
I think you should of mentioned there is no on off switch.
I think you should HAVE learned English.
Don't forget the Makie Onyx 2.2 producer. A great little interface I've been using for the past 3 years. Solid metal build and has the same features as the Aturia minus the mono button ( do we need a mono button? ) The Makie ASIO driver is very reliable. A friend of mine picked one up last week for £95.00 at DV247. A worthy alternative IMO.
Would you recommend this for clubhouse live on iphone?
Not really as you’d need to use additional power to use with your iPhone. Is it just for talking?
@@TheGaragebandGuide Talking and playing audio clips. Do you recommend other Audio Interface devices suitable for clubhouse
The USB hub isn't so "perfect" for powering MIDI controller keyboards as it will not supply enough to power Arturia's own Keystep 37!
only took 20 years to get a usb in the back of one of these lol
This video is a little dated now that the 4th generation focusrite 2i2 is out. The focusrite is a little more expensive but the clarity of the new pres and convertors is well worth it. Also the new Auto gain and clip control features are very nice. Arturia MiniFuse 2 has been left behind with this new generation of the Focusrite Scarlett.
Interesting - I made a video comparing the Scarlett 2i2 4th gen and Minifuse 2 a few months back you might want to have a look at: czcams.com/video/Mqj8UAnDIWA/video.html
No, it's not. Better get the Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD. More plugs, inserts on top and for a few bucks more you have twice the inputs. This is unless you want to invest four digits up the best audio interface you can choose within the entry market.
Apart from the usb port It has most of if not all of the functions of almost all recommended budget interfaces. Where is the noise floor comparison? I mean you say it's quiet and to prove it you........play sound through it? wtf is that? if you want to recommend an audio interface maybe you should give the results of a noise floor readout (instead of playing sound through it (ffs?!?!?!) and tell us what pre amps it runs. Worst review ever.
Just watch Julian Krause's review then. The noise floor is just under -129db. Quiet enough that you can crank the gain on a dynamic mic and not hear it.
Excessive and incorrect use of punctuation! Worst comment ever.
