There's a distinct difference between how fast your research loads now versus what it used to be like.
Fun fact, if you send any Rockruff capable of evolving into Dusk Lycanroc into Pokemon Home, those Rockruff have the ability Own Tempo, which it needs to evolve into Dusk in the main games.
Suggests that they need to be coded differently to regular rockruff
They do they are treated as 2 separate forms in the main series despite no visual difference, the form names are Rockruff and Own Tempo Rockruff.
They should have the word “Perfect” pop up when hitting that smallest circle excellent throw

My first shiny Rockruff from this event was also one that could evolve into dusk form. Now I just have to remember to evolve it at dusk lol

The smallest possible excellent for the critical capture doesn't work on raid legendaries or galarain birds! But works on everything non-legendary. No one has texted mythicals yet, but it's probably still a guarantee catch on the third throw
The fact it doesn't work on birds is horrible 😭 they freaking dared.
This is the first video I've watched covering this event, and I can't believe how stupid-lucky I got... No egg-hatching, no Rockruff raids, just one "Win 2 Raids" task completed, and I got the shiny dusk-form Rockruff!
Found out today, if you do not already have a Dusk Form Rockruff, it will appear as a Silhouette on your Raid Nearby on PokeGo!!!!
This will save you rushing to every raid, unless you want to visit Campfire.
And it will "only" evolve into Dusk Form, not the other two types
Hope the campfire bug stays until tomorrow, it just hit past 10pm here in Sweden so no more raids until tomorrow :/

eyyyy! I live in sweden too! I almost cant do raids as noone does it here (almost). But during Rowlet community day it was so cold up here that my phone died and i frose so much that i had to go home, so i could play the hole com day.
FYI Nick, if you do a raid or a task or hatch a Rockruff without the Dusk form, the silhouette disappears and thus any silhouette for raids for Rockruff are then 100% guaranteed to be Dusk Form. So don't waste passes! You know before the raid what the form is without Campfire. Once you get a Dusk form tho, you have to rely on an alt account (I used my alt to catch Dusk Form so that any non-silhouette is guaranteed to be Dusk Form). Niantic will eventually patch the Rockruff icon not working on Campfire but this method can't really be patched.
I did a raid with the silhouette and did not get dusk form
@@beccas5171 Was it your first Rockruff since the update? If so, they reset the Rockruff silhouette for regular Rockruff since they altered the coding backend for it. Once you do one of it tho, any other silhouette Rockruff's will be new form until you catch it. Verified this myself using my alt account.

It's unfortunate that this method for guaranteed critical catches isn't very practical, as you have to be so precise with the size of the circle, but it's still a nice feature to have.

Someone on Silph is gathering info about critical catches. Apparently like 3% of the time if you hit the exact spot for critical catch, the circle doesn’t matter. Could be nice throw, could be no circle, you can still get a critical.
I was so excited, when I got a shiny Rockruff from a daily incense, but then so confused that I couldn't evolve it to the new form.
Next series you should make is you getting as far as you can in your Pokédex completion since there’s so many you still don’t have

I don't think I'll ever get the new Rockruff but I did manage to get a 3 star shiny Rowlet, not the Shundo but a 3 star nonetheless! Man I'd REALLY love to go on a trip with you man!

I completed the Hatch 3 eggs task, and did get the Rockruff which can Evolve into it's Dusk Form Rockruff. I think these are the best/quickest way to be able to obtain one. Haven't got the raid task yet so can't judge on that one, but I do think those are guaranteed Dusk form Rockruff.
Good tip about the campfire map as of now. I'll share it with my friends. Got an egg hatch as well, and was like YES, turned out it was the older Rockruff, rip. 😆
For the rowlet community day yesterday, i got 7 shinys randomly, so i made the evolutions with a couple of extras.
The first shiny Rowlet you caught was rank 5 in the Ultra League

I finally found an active channel that plays Pokémon the way it was made, someone who still goes out and looks for Pokémon instead of sitting around using fake GPS 24/7. I dont have a problem with fake location etc, but watching people playing using hacks all the time is boring*

The first trip was perfect, the date was in some holidays in Canada, Québec... But it got sold out so quickly 🥲.
I wanted to go to Japan with the second group but the dates are in my exams week 😭💔. It would be bad if I miss my exams because I can take them again and means I can fail.
I'll continue dreaming one day, you maybe plan another trip to Japan and I'll be finish with school!

The tiny excellent throw Critical Catch thing does work on raids (I tested on a one-star raid). It just doesn’t work on Legendaries (either from raids or DAI or others).
Finally got the dusk form from a "hatch 3 eggs" event research today while at work 😊

It was -35C with a lot of snow in the north of sweden that day. Didn't catch a shiny. I've "checked" a lot close by, but realized that my home is warmer and it's not worth it.

The excellent critical catch works on raids of any type except Legendary ones. Raid and GBL Legendary don't get the critical catch. Galariand birds used to be able to get critical catches for the first few hours, but it seems they patched it quickly so it doesn't work anymore.

Dang I wish I'd seen this video before I wasted a remote pass on a Rockruff raid which ended up not being dusk form because of that stupid silhouette! Glad you're getting the info out there, though.

Critical catch didn't work on Galarian bird for me, so as far as im concerned its pointless to go thru all the hassle.
Mine was the opposite in NZ. The normal Rockruff raid gave me the old Rockruff, but the silhouette Rockruff raid gave me a dusk one🤔
Had work on Saturday sadly and only had 30 min of the event left. But I was lucky with 5 shiny Rowlets. Idk if the crit catch works. I've gotten those with alot of nice and great throws 🤷🏽♂️ Most of my excellent throws had them break out.
The generic icon on campfire is no guarantee. I just used my last remote pass because I saw one, and when I caught it, it was regular day/night rockruff.
I wanted to go on the trip to japan till i saw they wanted 4K for the trip which is crazy considering i just went to japan last year and even with my flight it cost a little under 2k and that was a 3 week trip.. but have fun to whoever is going since japan is amazing
My 2024 has started fantastically I got my first shundo and today I got a shiny klink and gastly the klink was wild but the gastly was traded com day was a really good day I got 8 shinies

The critical catch on the small excellent throws is a game changer for me. Opened my game and tried it immediately and it definitely works. Got it for three different species in a row.
Update: tried it on a Rockruff from a raid and it worked as well
I caught Galarian Articuno with the new Excellent throw thingy, but it wasn't even intentional; I can't hit the smallest circle when I want to to save my life.

I have a 93% Dusk Rockruff that I got from the first raid that I did. But I'm saving it for the Shiny Pokédex entry. Been saving it for 2 years!

I got super lucky with the one and only Rockruff raid I did. Shiny AND can evolve to Dusk form!
So you need to hit a black flash to get a critical catch. Got it!

18:33 Is the campfire bug still working? I’ve been consistently checking mine and all the Rockruff raids around me have the normal Rockruff pic/indicator. For the other generic raid symbol - I’ve only seen it for some shadow raids.

If Niantic knows what good for them, the will be VERY SLOW on fixing the icon in Campfire since it will lead to more of their apps downloaded and used.

I tried to TRADE a DUSK Rockruff with a DAY/NIGHT Rockruff, and BOTH were DAY/NIGHT after the trade. So be careful if you trade, it might lose it's DUSK form.

I caught rockruff yesterday that had the dusk option but now it just has the two regular options for day and night. I know it's the same bc I didn't transfer any and it has the date. Anybody know why?

One of the main reasons that I gave up on PoGO 2 years ago was the inconsistency of game. Each new update brought up new issues, and some already fixed issues continued to reappear randomly. Niantic put more and more contents into the game but they didn't come up with any long-term solution that might guarantee stability. It was just frustrating and infuriating.
