Scott knows his light and is very enthusiastic. I was there that day so I remember this lecture well. He gets excited. You have to admire his happiness at sharing his knowledge.

In the black and white film days, I measured shadows with an incident meter. In hard light, I set the exposure to 1/2 stop less than the meter reading. With soft shadows, I set the exposure to the shadow reading. In shade, I added 1/2 stop. It took me 20 years to work this out.

Thank you! This helps me with the introduction to the outdoor lighting equipment. I love his enthusiasm, the way, he explains and teaches, I want to try all the lighting techniques, it is a matter of practise. I like his experience and creativity with the lighting, he brings up very good points in sympathetic manner. Yes, it is my cup of tea - fast setup, compact, lightweight gear. Thanks again! Love it!

Please make more videos on constant LED light photography with camera settings... Thank you 👍🤝

Thank you for this. I started using video lights last autumn with success. One tip though - using dark gray background on your photos instead of white will emphasize your photo instead of your background. They will pop better - especially the darker ones.

@B&H thanks for the video but it seems to be a sales pitch for the lighting brand, he is very hyper and over the top for me. The sound was clipping because he was screaming, it was frustrating.
The power of the LED is strong but the flash will still win in the power category!
The settings seem off trying to show about shooting wide open and using LED lighting instead of shooting with a higher F-number!
Light is light. You have to understand Light! If you do you can use any kind of light from a house lightbulb to Flash.
With mirrorless, I do see Continuous becoming the new standard for photography and flash will be for a more specialized shooting for effects that continuous lighting cannot do as of yet.

If I wanted to use continuous lighting for a tropical (very sunny) outdoor wedding ceremony, what would you suggest?

Hi I have a Nikon d7500 camera. I wanted to take full body portraits, and the sharpness of full body was important to me
Which lens do you think is best for this?
    Not too expensive?
    Nikon 50mm 1.8g
    Nikon 35mm 1.8g
    Or ...?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 4 lety

A Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.8G would be the equivalent of 75mm on the D7500, so that would be best if you were shooting close up portraits. In this case, the AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G would probably be more versatile since it would be closer to a normal angle of view on your camera, allowing to easily shoot full length or close up as needed. In a perfect world, it would best to own both lenses.

I love LED for a lot of my studio work but for outdoors HELL NO. Sure if its night then maybe but to replace a strobe which is MANY MANY times stronger, that is just ridiculous. The samples are terrible and all the proof I need to backup my claims. The "demonstration" on the wall to show how bright it is...that was just laughable
