Hello from across the ditch
Looks like YT is fucked up again, another channel im subbed to had issues and it took hours plus a complaint before HD finally rendered, this was last night.
360p?????
Marty and Moog, you guys are awesome. Keep up the zany stuff.
Why 360?
2 creepers later and Marty is still lying on the floor
Still not low enough.
Marty gets all the hard jobs, Moogs must be good at ordering lunch !!
Next creeper needs to be a lowrider.
Those tow straps are awesome! I am getting a pair for the DriftStang right now! Glad the axles were the only things that went! Better than a gearbox!
even chris fix on the mcm videos
NO SPOILER D:
sitting here waiting for it to render in HD lol
hey chrisfix here
CHRIS FIXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
HOLY CRAP! Chris Fix watches MCM?!
Supergramps had a double hip replacment lol
Hip and a shoulder on the same side....
i left them for a while they broke again?
Fact: driveshafts are designed to snap clean of at the driven end, this is to prevent damage from a spinning broken shaft otherwise. Damage would be far greater with a spinning loose end.
Nobody wants a drive shaft through their fuel tank or floor
@@curtisss nobody wants a shaft in places where a shaft shouldn`t be.. its just nasty whahah
@@gewoontimm especially when said shaft forces it's way into a tight spot hahaha
@@curtisss uhuh.. hi cheryl ^^
@@gewoontimm that made my day! Brilliant
"You know what they say. Go hard or go home...
We went hard. And we went home.
With a broken car."
I love MCM!!!
At 0:27 my video froze... So I was just sitting here for a minute or 2 because I thought Marty was disappointed in Moog. All i heard was "well we went hard and went home" and then stares of disappointment.
Hi sheryl
Go hard, vape home, subaru lyf boiiiiiiii
Trap Addict z
420th like! Blaze it
Watching 360p on my 4K monitor... and loving it. Thanks for showing us your shaft. It was quite messy but it was a good 19 minutes. I left quite satisfied. I hope it was good for you too.
uhhhhh
😂
😂💀🤫
I understand there's the big builds and the sponsored stuff, but these episodes are really the best. Just two mates working on cars.
Lost it at, “Subaru, SubaPOO!” Haha
So you guys dedicated two episodes to building the ultimate garage creeper yet Marty is under this car just on his back?
Adam S lol 😂
New driveshafts are cool, but we all know there's an EZ36 with forged internals somewhere at Marty's mum's house... WE WANT MEGA GRAMPS!!!
Albon Any new build videos soon?
or hyper gramps
GiGa ramps haha
The motor you probably saw was just a backup motor if ever gramps blown up
What about Ultra Gramps!?
What happen to those mad chopped creepers that you all built? Everyone is cleaning the floor with their shirts.
Two shafts breaking at the same time isn't unheard of, but still interesting.
Two shafts breaking makes sense - an open diff works by balancing the torque applied to both your half axles, and the axle shaft is limited by how much torque it can take
Assuming they're both in about the same condition, they should snap at about the same time.
That's actually a good sign that the parts aren't worn, and they're simply just too weak.
I guess it explains the second jerk when he launched.
On an open diff, no.
Yep. When the first one breaks, the other one gets the full load.
David Lulham No.
ah good old 360p. That aside.... we never got an autopsy on 2sexy.
Apparently what happened to 2sexy is in their book
oh thank fuck. I thought i was going to have to get my eyes checked.
BlueChinchillaEatingDorito oh yeah, waited and extra 40 minutes in hopes of higher quality but nope. Denied
its still processing hasnt been fully uploaded yet so you can only view it in 360p
360p is best p
like Marty said those shafts are engineered to be the weakest link so it breaks instead of the gearbox,
also is anyone else getting kids cartoons in the ‘up next’ section?
Yeah. Same here.
Same. Odd.
I thought my sister had been using my PC but I'm not the only one, maybe it's the tags
EDIT : there is a tag "double unicorn" that is prob it
Hillbilly Hickey I see too, what the hell
Me too. Really weird
Nice to see a car repair on MCM. Going back to your roots. Don't get me wrong I love the series you guys produce, but always nice to see you guys come home now and again!
@16:59 "Nek minut" couldn't help but have a good chuckle.
(Huge fan and stuck in hospital going through all the oldie goldie videos, keep up the top work lads!)
we all know the real reason. subaru wagons know when they're in a drag race against a much faster opponent, so they break themselves to avoid losing. this is the real reason why the guys chopped the roof off the subarute, so it wasn't wagon, and therefore wouldn't break.
Wtf ,the suggestion list is all kiddie shows
Steven Jonker yeah it's the same for me
My suggested video just says "MAKING A RAPIER!"
Sounds like fun, might allow the kids to watch that later.
Shona Alec Steele is actually pretty friendly and your kids might actually take to metal work 😂 I don’t think I’ve ever heard him cuss 😂😂
Zach Vogel I actually meant that as a joke, but I took a quick look at him after your comment and he seems like a pretty enthusiastic guy.
Steven Jonker ikr, weird af
I’m loving the non montage music edited vids. What drew me to mighty mods in the beginning. You guys are doing great
I was hoping I would see Marty using his crazy crawler while working underneath this car. Oh well, still a quality episode. Keep up the great work MCM!
The problem is your on the upside down of the world guys, the mass of the earth is counter rotating against your wheels, you need to put left hand threads on your lug nuts. Also contrary to popular belief installing your tires with the directional arrow going the opposite direction will work better for you boys down under . Running the lowest octain you can find will help as well, c tain is calculated in the norther hemi ,so it is a inverse calculation nobody tells you guys.
LOL
This makes so much sense! Wow eye opener right here.
Isnt earth flat?
they are on the other side of flat:)) like in kitchen :D
You forgot to mention swapping battery leads
Swap the other front shaft as well. When I broke the right side one on my 413 whp forester the left hand side snapped on the next launch
Hey guys, I love the show. I'm amazed that you sheared the axles on Super Gramps - I've seen Subaru CV axles blow the bearings before, and figured you'd done the same. Crazy! Glad it was cheap and easy and you're back on the road!
We enjoyed looking at you troubleshoot and repair the issue. We're really proud of you both. MCM 4 Life!!!
The word Autopsy in the title probably got this demonetized. It seems when that happens the vid gets put in a low priority queue for processing. Also even if the video is disputed and remonetized before making it public it will still be stuck in the slow queue and can take hours or even days to get 720p or 1080p. CZcams's latest way of screwing over content creators.
Quite possibly.. context is a thing, well it should be anyway! Thanks for the tip
I love how they didn’t even use the new floor creepers they made.
Your back!!! Boy did we miss you guys!
It’s hard to see from the video since we didn’t get a good close shot of the broken shafts, but often times a clean break that is flat across the breakage plane can indicate a fatigue failure. Just because a part has handled abuse before, doesn’t mean it won’t snap the next time. Starting fresh with new parts that you guys know the history of was a good idea!
Thanks for the great video! I love where MCM came from, and I love where MCM has gone!
Been watching you guys forever, love how you guys have stayed true to the content and not changed with success! Huge inspiration for us to make videos.
MCM is life
Ur channel looks cool 2, subbed!
Everyone’s complaining about 360p and I’m here happy to see a new video
Zohar Hussain And in here wishing I could watch 360p, I'm stuck on 144p. slow data and no electricity.
Same here lol
I've got an OBXT with a 5spd making around 350whp, and i'm so absolutely terrified of breaking something transmission-wise that i barely even get in it anymore. Props to you guys for not being afraid to wring Supergramps' neck a little when the time was necessary!
I love the rawness of the recent videos. It's so real. But still do an odd video with moog's amazing music. Mcm forever. Maaad
nice use of the crawlers you made
2 million subs, a healthy merch store, but no lift? Come oooooonnnnn
The concrete doesn't always support it. Just do a quick search on lift fails.
A lift would take away the "even you can do it" factor of mighty car mods
They've said it before, they don't have enough room and the quick jack is good enough for there needs
they may not have the roof height to put one in?
We’ll put one in a tin shed one day, until then our quick jack will do ok!
when you are reminiscing about some of the older moments of MCM you should put small vids of the clips so newer viewers can click and see the moment you were talking about! :D Awesome video guys btw!
Thanks guys, I had to play 6.55 twice what a connection you two have 👍👌
6:41 yesss a mechanical fuse!!!!!!!!!
im on 88% of my first ever payment threshold need to make it by 12 tonight give us a hand
Oscar Thorpe - Right on!
Good design should always include cheap, easily replaceable parts that fail before expensive, hard to replace parts get damaged. #fusablelink
Max Armfield Guitar
Faacking odd place to hold your hat out, bud. I won't throw you any cash, but I did watch a couple of your vids & subscribe to your channel, for whatever that's worth
Max, YT claim they will pay all outstanding after the deadline even under the threshold, see YT help forum.
I had 800 subs yesterday, not looking promising with a day to go, bigger channel saved the day and I've got 1.4k now so looks like I wont get the back of my head stomped by CZcams.
I think of a Shear Pin like in a lawnmower or garden tiller.
I have a jdm Subaru and live in Canada . There is no greater feeling than when the shop actually carries the part.
01GTB Daily I own a Lada in Canada. I can only imagine the feeling.
Just use rockauto.com they have everything for usually half the price of a shop.
I have a global domestic market VW Passat.... and I live in Canada. I often call the dealer for parts pricing and laugh... and then I call Carquest.... and then I buy the part at Carquest... (or rock auto)... Subie parts ridiculously expensive at the dealer?
Eighties Evil man rock auto is awesome for two reasons... #1 Great pricing #2 great tool for determining if you're being ripped off at your local parts shops... If I can't wait I'll feed a few part numbers (Dorman, AC Delco etc)to the local shops...and if the pricing (with trade discount) is close to the rock auto price, I grab it. Very seldom are local parts cheaper......
Oh. And #3.... Rock Auto price plus tax and shipping seems to be very close to trade price not retail....
Rock auto is practically useless for Lada, pretty amazing for everything else.
So glad you guys didn't have engine or gearbox issues.
One point guys. First off I love your show! Thanks for trucking on!
When you started doing these shows you guys were vary good about explaining and showing how to fix and install parts. This time you did some explaining but there was a number of times that you were not showing what you were doing.
Now knocking you too hard here. Just polity asking for better camera angles of the new parts going in.
Looking forward to your next show!
Good video guys, I like how you are picking your battle and keeping the original CVD Shafts, something gotta break and it's better than a box. (Axel's for the Americans in the room).
Good to see it wasn't anything too expensive to fix, but I have a question. Why didn't you use the creeper you made?
Easier to work when you have more room to move your hands. Plus he wasn't going to be under there for long.
I love these episodes. So informal and informational
Hey man I love what y’all are doing. I remember when I broke my cv shaft (that’s what we call it in America) when I moved from California to Texas. I was towing a trailer with my 2007 Honda Accord coupe (never doing that again) and it tried to send me hard right with the trailer and all of a sudden, it wouldn’t move at all. I had to leave it in Kingman, Arizona and keep going with a rental suv to Texas and I came back for it once I moved my stuff into my place (I had to return the suv to Arizona). My friend and I hauled ass all the way back to Kingman to fix the car. We picked up the car, dropped off the suv, and we limped the car right back to Texas. I ran across 3 time zones in 4 days (pacific, mountain, and central) and it was one hell of a ride. I would do it all over again in a hot second. Keep on rocking!!!
360p?? daphuq???
Builds a CREEPER still lies on the floor!!!
Thank you guys!! Another great video 10 months ago
This gave me the confidence to replace the snapped driveshaft on my Suyota (or Toybaru??)..
Deffo beats getting getting towed to a garage..also great sense of achievement being able to mend stuff in the driveway..
Thanks McM...
to be honest.... after the 2nd driveshaft was replaced, i was hoping it would still not work, and needed another replaced... just for some more comedic value, and a longer MCM video
Wilco Muurling sorry we let you down! (Not sorry, cause we can move the car now!)
you guys never let me down! was just expecting/hoping for another driveshaft change including your casual ''sexual innnuendo'' talk when inserting certain objects in lubricated parts of the car.
Twice I've reduced 2nd gear into Christmas glitter... That makes for a not so fun day. Time to buy a lottery ticket though- that kind of break wasn't cheap, but was a lucky one compared to the alternative.
When there's no Hoonigan upload at 3am, MCM sends the goods from the interballs all the way around the world.
green bean you mean the rich boys?
Simply love your banter and makes
Fun fact about driveshafts: In the British Touring Car Championship in the 90s, Vauxhall (Holden) had a recurring problem with the Cavalier snapping its driveshafts regularly. In an attempt to diagnose the issue the team painted a line down the length of the shaft and found that after a standing start the shafts would have twisted a full 180 degrees! The result was a snapped shaft on the next, or close to next launch. The shafts were milled hollow for weight saving purposes, so rather than revert to solid shafts, the team simply changed both shafts after every race!
You should make the shop gloves have the back of the palm of the have all white as well as the thumb, index and middle fingers.
That way when you successfully remove a stubborn part or finish a difficult built you can say and emote chopped to the part/car and it look like your chopped logo.
I've got a 1980 Subaru wagon, back when they were 4wd, as opposed to the AWD they have now. My drive line to my rear diff is $800USD new from Subaru, or $60 from Gerry's Foreign Auto (the wreckers). I went with Gerry's. Stupid staked u-joints.
Peeps get awesome FREE MCM episode which these guys work hard on... and just complain about 360p. Keep up the great work guys!
I haven't scrolled down all the way through the thousand comments, however, did you guys add the missing gearbox oil that spilled in the front? Just a reminder so that nothing else goes bananas on the next "gentle launch". That being said, I have been watching you guys since the beginning and you are my weekly delight. Thank you for all the knowledge and laughs. You Aussies are awesome and I hope to visit some time.
Why didnt you use the xtreme edition creeper? :O
Probably blew because the track was too prepped. Car's trying to put that power to the wheels but the wheels are too gripped and don't wanna turn, so they twist and snap. That's how it usually happens.
I like these raw videos. Thank you for making this so fast
Great channel. Thanks for all the fun content. One suggestion. Use a torque wrench with the proper number on hub nuts. They set the preload on the wheel bearings. Cheap insurance against over or under tightening the bearings. Thanks again. Cheers!
We need a 2 sexy rebuild...
Smart man Benny, you left at the right time
Good videos and awesome Channel! We love it here in the US! Keep up the good work
Yo love ya channel and enough respect for everything you do. You should make a car with a fast and furious theme
$443?
Absolutely ripped
Supergramps is like a fine wine just gets better with age (history tells us that Sheryl was the same 😏)
I believe in their current form, they are called half shafts.
Wow thats a funny thing considering i just got a 2nd gen legacy gt and was thinking about how much torque they make yet how weak the drivetrain seems built and you went and added 175% more power and sheared both shafts in a launch! Bravo and thanks for the heads up.
Your show always teaches these great life lessons ha
With two shafts breaking, the other two are not far behind.
cv axels are designed to brake to protect the transmission. I have done this as well. I enjoy your show and the skid factory is awesome too. Thanks
Jeremy my fiesta has blown up 2 gearboxes but no driveshafts, it’s annoying
Glad to know it's such a relatively easy fix, and not the engine or gearbox. It was heartbreaking to see it blow up, even more so after I finally got caught up on the Gramps saga over the last few days.
Supergramps rides again!
Hi guys, love your shows. I noticed you guys had a portable hoist. Where did you guy get it from and how much? Keep up with the great work! Cheers.
Next video: "So when we checked if the wheels were spinning, we only checked one side... Turns out we snapped all 4. We do it all over again, on this episode of mighty car mods" ;)
There hasn't really been any vids of Super Gramps Audio, like exhaust clips, car sound only , launches etc. It sounds amazing when it started, Just realized I've barely heard the thing even tho I've seen every video with it in unless I've missed some ?!
great episode boys. love the diy stuff
Hey guys love your stuff, can you please make a video about the different octane fuels in relation to power/ economy/ engine cleaning, i feel likes theres some interesting myths out there. Cheers boys
The feeling when you are so early that CZcams didn't even processed the Video at all. 360P Life.
360p squad where ya at
im here
Seriously... How it's been over an hour
YTB
360p for daays
2h later woop woop!
I’ve done hundreds if not thousands of these and still watched the whole thing.... fyi Usually I spray a towel with brake clean and wipe those rotors down to keep the greasy finger prints from contaminating the pads. Great video, always enjoy hanging out at the mcm garage. (Hoist next? Maybe a sponsor deal???)
10 years today, congrats boys!
Last time I was this early they were *pissing on a car for street cred.*
I'll be back when this is in HD haha
The fact that both the mini and supergramps need repairs is really a testament to how often these cars get used. I see cars built on other channels and I know they are never really used again.
Front inner, back outer. Both snapped. Same side of the car. Nice work Marty.
You guys made those bench on wheel things but your laid on the floor 😂😂 that would be me also aha
"They say 'Go hard or go home' ....we went hard AND went home..." I lol'd
Hey, thanks guys. Not sure how I got to this side of the internet, but as I am a machine operator for work, I find watching mechanicals fascinating!
YOU BROKE THE INNER ON THE FRONT AND THE OUTER ON THE BACK! THAT IS AMAZING... I HAVE NEVER HEARD AND SEEN THIS!
Anyone else notice how marty is on the floor while they literaly have 2 creepers in the backround
Creepers are good when you're going deep under the car (makes it easy to come back out quickly with less effort). No good when you have to lever something or push parts on because you just keep rolling away...
@@2litrepeter. Creepers with Brakes then might seem the obvious solution! Surprised, people employed in an engineering discipline, haven't yet incorporated such a simple refinement in the long history of the device?

dont hurt me pls
Marty, I used to snug up the axle nut just like you for the longest time (without issue) until I discovered the axle nut pre-loads the wheel bearing.
Good to see Gramps back in the game. I was laughing with Moog though, don’t think you will launch quite that hard next time.
I wish the old Might Car Mods would return... I miss those days and episodes. This was a bit more like the old days. Cheers guys.
Oh, by the way... I heard Subaru were going to option all cars with the tow strap seen as they are used so often...!
CHOPPED!!!
So after all the building and pimping, they didn't use the Garage Creepers.
Sick quality cheers for uploads
keep up the good work guys
what is this 360p D:
At least it's an easy and (relatively) cheap fix. Well, cheaper than a gearbox anyway. Quick question: doesn't the Haltech you've got have launch control capability?
Yes!!! I'm so glad Supergramps is back!! I've been wanting more Supergramps content for so long!! XD (I have a Subaru Outback so I love Supergramps)
