    Every video I have seen so far, I have learned something that I didn't know. You explain things at a good pace and are thorough. Thanks so much for sharing!

      I have been accused of going to fast so I try to keep that short but to the point. lol

      @@Timberfalls You do go a little too quickly for me, but I wouldn't call it an accusation more of an observation. Also if you could make your mouse cursor more visible (larger and a more contrasting colour) that would help some of your more aging viewers (like me). But above all that I'm grateful for the videos, you don't have to do them and they are extremely useful. Thanks

      @@thebigsnifter9145 I appreciate the kind feed back and I will look into the cursor size so thank you for that suggestion. On the going to fast part you can change the video speed in the settings button on the video to slow it down slightly and it does help. I try to pack a lot of info into each of my videos so they tend to go a little fast.

      @@Timberfalls Don't let anyone ever accuse you of that, there is a rewind and a pause button, people should learn how to use them so if someone can follow at your speed, they won't suffer wasted time! Thank you!

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 4 měsíci

      @@QuagmireLXIX another option is to change the speed on the video. If you click on the little options button you can watch it at slightly slower speed and may be easier for some to follow.

    Thanks for this excellent series. I was brand new to Carveco 2 days ago, and now I'm programming and doing surprisingly well. I attribute that to your style of teaching -- very thorough and consistent. Thank you for that.
    I have a few questions:
    1. How can I take a 2D photograph and turn it into a 3D carving?
    2. How can I stop my machine (Onefinity) from returning home after completing each tool pass. Often I have 6 or 8 tool paths before needing to insert a different bit. Can't the machine just go from one path to the next without wasting time going home in between each one?

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks Dan for the feedback I appreciate the kind comments. For 3d stuff its a little hard to make 2d stuff 3d without maker plus this video shows sort of a workaround. czcams.com/video/NGsQzjMnTZw/video.html

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 6 měsíci

      On your second question if you are using the same bit you can save all those toolpaths as one toolpath and they will run back to back without stopping.

    Appreciate these Videos on Carveco Maker I am picking up many good points. I am having great difficulty in reproducing many of the operations you perform. Unfortunately, I am not getting the same menu's coming up on the right side of the screen as you do. Specifically trying to add some text to an imported STL. Unable to adjust size or depth or even get it to connect to the original file. Is it possible that you can only add text to the clipart within Carveco and not an outside STL file?

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 4 měsíci

      You can add text to any STL or clipart as they are pretty much the same thing. You need to have a project open to import a stl from the top menu and select the import relief option. This will give you the import window to paste in the floating model. It must be pasted down before you can add text. If you cannot see it press f9 to bring it back into focus to the middle of the project. Some of those windows are only active in the 3d tab and not in the 2d tab which is something else that can prevent those from showing up. There is a carveco users group on FB that may be a great source of knowledge as well. Hope this helps.

    thank you very much for the explanations, how can i design a spoilboard with many drill holes in SketchUp and bring it into carveco maker to be cut out?

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it. You will need to export the file out of sketchup in a format that carveco can use like STL for 3d stuff. I have never used sketuchup so not sure what file types it will export.

    Iam getting a flat spot on my relief carving what the solution thanks

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It would be hard to know exactly without being able to see the carving. Couple of things come to mind is the amount of allowance you have for the roughing cannot be too small or it will carve into the finishing pass. The other things are check the flatness of your material before you start and make sure your chip loads are dialed in when cutting. If you would like to email me some photos I may be able to help sort it out better. My email link is in my bio.

    Jason, I have a knotty log style text I would like to crown so it carves like a real log shape. Can I use that rounding tool to creat the effect? My concern is all the knotty vectors moving independently. Please advise, Thanks

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 5 měsíci

      I am not quite sure what you mean by log shape but if your using the sign base 28 trick to create the raised relief first and then the smoothing tool to smooth these edges over as long as they are not too tall it should work . I would run the simulation of the toolpaths to see what it looks like and is the way you want it to come out.

    • @awehnert235
      @awehnert235 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @Timberfalls So the log text has a lot of vectors to express the bark and knots within each character, and although I can raise the text, I want to raise it on an arc so when carving it looks like a 1/4 shape log or radius down from center to the edges of the text. Thanks for your reply!

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@awehnert235 With basic maker this is going to be very difficult to pull off. You really need the 3d molding tools to do that kind of thing. The trick that I show is pretty basic and can do some layering but not sure you are going to get it to look smooth like a log. You would need to arrange each of those vectors at a slightly different height progressing over the shape to make that happen.

      @Timberfalls Thanks Jason, I'm just starting and don't even have my cnc yet. Still waiting for delivery. Working on projects to prepare for the delivery. This is for my company signage. Though I'm training in Carceco Maker I assumed I would be upgrading or shifting to the vetric software. Getting my feet wet learning. My previous experience is with Mastercam and their solids modeling component. Carveco is interesting but my background is in 3d moldmaking design and tool paths. It's just the upgrade for my older version of Mastercam is 5k and they don't have a post processor for the Masso control. Thanks for your feed back, God Bless!

    • @Timberfalls
      @Timberfalls  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@awehnert235 I have used both and I think you should stick with Carveco and if you are going to upgrade Carveco maker + is about 1k cheaper than Aspire but has most all the same 3d modeling features and is a better bang for buck. Vcarve pro is the same as basic maker and you will not really gain any features moving to that. You could use maker for almost 5 years and not spend what you are going to spend on vcarve pro. The 3d modeling tools in Carveco are more refined and the full version of Carveco has features that none of the vectric versions can do. If you are good with master cam Fusion 360 can do full parametric design where as Vectric and Carveco are only 2.5d.

    • @Timberfalls

      This means that the model is larger than your defined material and needs to be adjusted in the material setup which is at the bottom of every toolpath. Hope this helps
