Kitchen Renovations Begin at our Cabin bit.ly/3Ba6jrH
We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. We are finally nearing the end of our renovations and cannot wait to give you a full cabin tour very, very soon!

Who are we?
We're Eamon and Bec, a Canadian couple who previously lived and traveled full-time in our self converted Sprinter Van!! When the pandemic hit in 2020 we made the difficult decision to abandon our van in Africa and fly home to Canada. Now we're here... living at a cabin in the Canadian wilderness!
I love how she literally thanked him for not yelling at her on the phone and explaining things calmly, Iâm sure people take their frustration out on them all the time. Good job Eamon đđŒ
Well it would help if they were in the same country, heck in the same store, you bought the stuff from. I don't ever Ikea. Not ever.
Maybe the âskillshareâ ikea cabinet course would be an appropriate.option.
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Do they offer this?!?!?!? đ we need to take the course!!! And if not⊠maybe by the end weâll be ready to teach it lol
@@eamonandbec I feel youâŠ.
I made it through a kitchen and 2 bathrooms with considerable swearing.
I look forward to your 37 part skillshare video upload. đ«
I will pay that, one, well played
Ha, ha, I was just thinking that exactly!
Bob is suuuuch a dad! He totally amps up his kids to make them feel good about their work even tho he's probably assembled a hundred kitchens in his time.
"Papa, look what we built."
"Woooowwwww ooohh aahhh, good job kids!"
He's just the best
Guys, I got into the habit of telling my mom I loved her at the end of our calls, and when we leave each other. She loves it! At first she thought it was odd, but now she's into it, and she seems happier. She's a widow, and I know at times she feels alone. By the way, I love Bob too!
My son says that now, too. It's a gift of the quarantine for us.
That is so sweet Carol!! It never hurts to remind your people how much you love them đ€
Love for Bob too!!
Everyone loves Bob đ„łđđ„°
The "IKEA Blues" is a song everyone can get behind!
Hahahah YES!!!
Yep!
Been there. Almost broke up over an IKEA entertainment center đ
So true. Hahah
âThereâs a third sneaky hole up thereâŠâ Iâm literally cry laughing LOL đ
Me too đ€Ł
When your Dad said, "I love you too, Buddy." It made me cry. (*I miss my Dad.)
The "hole" next to dishwasher would make a great space for vertical wine rack or shelf.
All over it Eva đ
Is it too late to return the ikea cabinets and exchange for a better quality solid wood? They look really cheap. And the modern look clashes with the cabin vibe.
@@JB-wp2gn l like my idea of sending a video to IKEA while millions see it on their channel.
I've built a many of ikea things in my house. Dressers, bookshelves, tables, chairs. It is best, to build solo as a singular brain. Too many brains and ideas and opinions make it bad and make things confusing. I have not had any trouble building any of my items because, I don't let my sig other help me LOL
Same here. If someone else try to help it will be messed up. First time I ever whent to Ikea was over 40years ago so a few things have been built from theređ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Same! Ive never had any issue with box built furniture. Only time I ever had a problem was when I had my mother help me with one heavy drawer set. Lmao
We pay someone build ours or we would have been divorced by now. A decision we made early in our marriage and stuck to.
You sound smart, but I think your spouse is way smarter lol. I didn't like the way my husband taped the drywall so I have been doing it in nine houses. My husband was crazy like a fox that first time.
Agreed! Get real zen, sort all the pieces into little cups, study the directions like you are going to have a test on them, because you are!
"A smile and a good attitude...that's all we need!".....this needs to be a shirt or sticker or coffee mug or something
Love that idea! đ„°
When the IKEA lady ends up thanking you? And no answers?! Like that got confusing⊠haha BLESS.
Secret with ikea is to keep it organized, and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! They do tell you everything. Just dont skip the step, read every word, dont rush and even when you think you know how it goes, you dont! Follow the instructions.
I love Bob's enthusiasm for the kitchen improvements. Every construction project needs a Bob seal of approval after a frustrating day.
One day soon that will be an epically nice kitchen.
Haha! Love it "bob seal of approval"
I LOVE Bob!
@Thomas King @Eamon & Bec the municipality could offer a special advanced building permit with Bob's seal of approval along with the engineers'
"A smile and a good attitude...that's all we need!" I'm going to remember that one forever, LOVE IT!
And a permit probably đ€Ł
Eamon and Bec I've watched you videos for awhile now and I know that before Lee left this earth (R.I.P.) she had bought a van to fix up, I was wondering if you thought about fixing it up and maybe giving it away in her honor or something like that.
Yep, love it!
Your âGaryâ is worth his weight in gold. Iâd hire him for all my build needs if I were you because heâs the best!
Itâs so nice that your sister and her (boyfriend, husband, friend?) came to help. That was something very special that is missing in my life. Youâre blessed.
We are very blessed indeed!!
You know youâre truly in love when you both donât like the faucet đ
Haha! Yes! We are super lucky to both like the same things (most of the time)!
When you plan to build something complex from ikea, the most important part is that you make sure you are able to focus enough to see all the details in the instructions. This is why Eamon fails a little bit, he tries to think for himself which is generally good but with ikea you have to really take in the instructions, not make your own plan in your head. Best Regards, Sweden
đđđđ
âThis is bananas!â Was the funniest thing you guys have ever recorded. I laughed so hard. Can totally relate with the pain.
I don't want to get anything at Ikea.
Let me just say, it's wonderful to see Bob, again. Missed him! And... your kitchen looks WONDERFUL! Hope seeing it now makes it worth all the angst you went through, getting it all assembled!!
There's these 3 holes. There's 2 and the other sneaky hole đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Eamon had me rolling. Shout out to you all for being so patient. I don't think I could've done it.
It did take us 4 days to FINALLY get that drawer right đ
Omg this was hilarious and I was also sooo frustrated with you. I definitely FELT that way with ikea. The phone call was maybe the worst part!! Haha
Glad you enjoyed laughing along with us! đ„°
I was fully expecting Eamon to say 'screw it' and just cut off that couple inches of drawer face that kept hitting the top! đ
SO glad you guys stuck with it though - the kitchen is looking BEAUTIFUL! đ Can't wait to see Part 2!
Kitchen looks great but that swing is EVERYTHING!!!!!!
ooomgggggg all that frustration - and then Bob walks in with his big reactions and smiles and compliments and just mends hearts like sunshine
Bob to the rescue đđ
I'm impressed that you could even get someone from IKEA on the phone.
Haha well⊠it was nice while it lasted đ
You know it's going to be a great video when Bob is around â€ïž I love how he's always going along with all the silliness. XOXO â€ïž
Would just like to add that Bruce is one of the prettiest dogs Iâve ever seenđ
Yes so beautiful đ»
I love Bob's reaction!!!
Okay but this episode had my mom and I rollingggg on the floor!!! Weâve had our far share of crazy frustrating ikea builds so we can definitely sympathize with yâall!love you both!! LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!
Thank you, thank you!!
Aw, your cabin is becoming a real sanctuary. Your hard work is paying off, guys - it's looking gorgeous đđ xxx
Thank youuuu đ
Bruce was OBVIOUSLY a gigantic help in the installation of the island and the stove!!
The call with IKEA đđđ like when it ends with the rep thanking YOU for the explanation, you know it canât be good
Hahaha I know right!!!
I had flashback anxiety watching this one! I bought a prefab "kitchen" unit from Pro Mart here in Peru. It took us 6 days to put together. It was missing 120 screws and we ended up drilling our own holes and a lot of gorilla glue!! It says a lot you are still in love ! Great dog by the way. Thank God for friends and family. So glad you waited to cut for the sink!!!!! Love and condolances from Peru. IT IS BEAUTIFUL! Jelouse of that stove
Flat pack is bad enough. Flat pacK from IKEA is BRUTAL!!! Great job, guys
My favorite part of this video is the drawer dilemma đđđ omg every single attempt and Bec crouching down in disbelief đ I love you two!
Ikea drawer help: there are two sets of holes on the actually TRACK that you screw into the cabinet. When you are moving the track up and down to different holes in the cabinet, you can also make smaller adjustments by screwing into different holes on the track itself. There is a top set of holes and a bottom set. Hope this helps! You guys are awesome.
So are you. I would have to read that three or four or five times to understand it, but it's so cool that you know that and I could actually follow your simply laid out organized instructions! You rock!
And don't forget the hidden drawers use the middle of the three holes, both front and back. That way the Utrusta drawer front is flush with the cabinet and not sticking out. Just built a huge ikea kitchen... loved it. Just remember RTFI - Read The Instructions. đ
Bob always brings pure joy, happiness and relief!â€ïžđđŒâ€ïž Love him!â€ïž
Love you guys, glad the drawers worked out, they really are a stunning colour!
I canât wait for this cabin to be complete. I would love to see you collab with Kara and Nate at some point bc I think that would be cool once canada makes it so you can go there for tourism and other stuff. Also, any updates on trinity?
I got my degree in IKEA a long time ago. You have to follow the booklet thatâs in the box the crap came with. Each booklet will be slightly different. Thatâs how they f*ck with you. I also refuse to build ikea with my husband!!! đ€Ł đ So not worth it! You just have to take you time and remember to breathe and when you get frustrated go break something else!
Totally. Walk away and have a break and then come back or you'll go insane.
Yeah, because thereâs always some other configuration that any given piece might also be used in (necessitating different holes or whatever). I have come to really enjoy IKEA assembly, but you have to become one with the instructions and not wing anything. If I canât see it what they mean at first, Iâve learned to sit with the booklet longer rather than trying to figure it out by playing around with the gear too much.
Eamon explaining the holes made me laugh so much. I feel bad to be entertained by an obviously tedious task. đ
Omg, so exciting! Iâve waited for this ever since you started renovating. So happy for you guys!
iâm truly mesmerized by everything you guys do. itâs all so beautiful đ
I loooove seeing your house come together. I knew it would be beautiful because of your van builds. â€â€
Thanks so much Tami! Your comment touched my heart! đ„°
3:23 Becs quote about the kitchen units colour: "Oh... It looks nice on camera!" đ€Łđâ€
Everything is looking great! Well done guys, so much inspiration.
I so look forward to your videos every week. Can't tell you two enough how much I enjoy how relatable and genuine you make every videos. Also so glad you have been able to enjoy the process with all it's ups and downs. Your most cherished memories will be these times, even the frustrating ones. Super happy for you two. Xo
Someone once told me, if I ever buy anything from IKEA, be sure to get a case of beer on your way home, even if youâre not a drinker! Itâll drive you to drinking before youâre done. They werenât wrong!
They werenât wrong đ
One can per two cabinets keeps everyone calm and happy.
Beer is for the friends you need to call to help if you are not a drinkerâŠ
But wait with the beer until you have finished assembling - need to be sober so you don't miss any instructions đđ€Ł Love from Sweden - the land of IKEA đđ
Go get a portable floor ac and hang the tubu out the window . Or you guys could drill a fold and do it that way. They work great . Get some shades I know you want the view but it will keep you cool when suns out .
the shades will help in winter at nights to keep the cabin warmer too.
This isn't ALL I took from the video but I wanted to say thank you for showing setting out the outdoor cushions after having them inside LOL we take ours in most nights cause it rains a lot in Ontario and seeing that made me feel better about it cause my heart wants cute outdoor cushions to be out all the time and for them to be clean with no effort. So small but put a stupid smile on my face.
Its so nice to share your struggles with us too, often times you see renos cut from beginning to end seemingly without any effort or problem haha! And yet still with a positive vibes and outcome at the end
When the 1800 call drops after you explained everything to them. đ€ŠđŒââïž Happened to me 3x this week.
its a regular occurrence. I often wondered if they do that when they don't know the answer lol
I'm convinced they (not just IKEA) hang up on purpose.đ
Because the call center in south India is terrible.
Thats because they do not want to help. And you can not get back to that person to continue to help you.Thats the trouble with sending our customer service over seas.
Oh man those drawers are a headache. I had the same issues. Once I figured the screws behind the white panel, along the rails, moved the faceplate up and down I was golden! The kitchen is looking sharp.
Yes! I was yelling that at the screen but they didnât hear me. đđ
Eamon and Bec are always so productive. Great workers!
Every time I get a dose of Bob I know it is going to be an outstanding week. Looks outstanding, y'all!
I'm so happy Eamon explained the ikea instructions in a panic. It's documentation for future generations how everyone feels about ikea in current day đđ
LOL
Love every single video! Love how light hearted everyone is! Your home is a dream come true
Beck the stove is in, 8 inches off the floor! Lol,,dishwasher only sticks out 6"...all the drawers are wrong... love it! Reality is what it is!
More Bruce content. Cutest pup ever! He just wants to help build the kitchen :)
Good morning! Yaaayyy, another episode!! Love you two! Have a great day everyone!
There needs to be a skill share for putting IKEA furniture together!
I love how youâre videos are so realistic! Itâs not just a jump cut to a finished kitchen you show the reality of it! It takes a lot of work, time and energy!
Gosh, I love the sound tracks that you use for your videos! It just chills me out and make me enjoy everything there is about every day you know. Thank you đđŒ.
I am currently at my cabin on a lake in Canada too! You guys make my day 100x better
Aww, I just love you guys so much!! You've gotten me through quarantine and if I'm having a bad day, you're videos always cheer me up. Thank you so much for sharing your live's with us đđđ
I absolutely love what you have done to the kitchen! Your videos inspire me to do more and be better! Love you both. â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Two things I realized today watching my favorite Sunday program, first I always put my devices away and two I am always smiling!!! Thank you E and B.
IKEA = âI Killed Everyone Aroundâ while I built drawers!!!
Hope you do not mind but I am stealing this one:))))
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
đ€Łđ€Ł
@Go Surf OMG - had the same issue! I lived in LA & my thought process..do I drive to IKEA in the crap traffic or find a screw that may work? đ€Łđ
@AYJ
đ€Ł *Hilarious*
"trust me trust me trust me"
proceeds to make worrying Tarzan sounds.
Love that you chose those appliances- I have those going in my house as well!! Canât wait- they are so sleek and beautiful. Thanks for sharing the realness that is home renovations!
Also where is that hanging chair from? Love it!
The light coming into the kitchen is dreamy...Good job guys... love it..love you!!
I LOVE the green kitchen! It's beautiful! It's different than the sterile white that's trendy right now. I love seeing the extended family! I also wanted to tell you guys that I stepped out of my comfort zone and booked a rafting trip at Owl in August!! It's my first solo trip, and car camping adventure!! Thanks for the inspiration! Love you guys so much!
White kitchens actually aren't in style anymore - colorful ones like this are. But people are so behind on trends that people are now putting in white kitchens with that godawful white marble thinking it looks good lol.
Thatâs so amazing! We hope you have the BEST time!! Make sure you let them know that youâre a friend of ours too đ
Yay!! This is the wife of my husband's account lol but I love what you guys do and how you live your life to the fullest. Such a great couple đ
Awesome as always folks. Lots of LOVE!
Good job! Kitchens are tough, you guys rocked it.
âWeâre still in loveâ đđđđ
I love Bob! He just makes me laugh!!!
Y'all's videos are the best. I look forward to them every week.
That is some nice kitchen!!! We did a grey and white kitchen 7 years ago and i never tire of it. I did maybe giggle too much at the construction of the drawers, but see you did master them in the end. Good work.
I fookin lov ya guys! Best part of my sunday is you âđ
You are the best Jason đđ
Bob! I like the green/gray. Because you have an open plan, if you put a window air conditioner up in the loft, it will gently cool the house and get rid of the humidity.
Your kitchen looks AMAZING! Canât wait to see next weekâs video. Sorry it was such a hassle putting together the IKEA cabinets. From the least handy person on the planet, I felt your pain. Cheers from Texas.
'Ring ring' Bob. I love you... father/son brought tears to my eyes!!! đ„°
You guys! It looks amazing!! Iâve been soooo waiting for this and you did not disappoint. But UGH feeling your IKEA pain. Skillshare needs to add an IKEA construction course
You guys did great! Iâve been researching the âITâ color for my remodel after the destructive ice storm last February destroyed my cabinets.. Griege is the winner. Good choice, Eamon!. But putting together IKEA furniture give me such a bad case of anxiety so I think yâall rock!
@VIVIEN,
I lovvve that grey-green colour too. One of my favourite choices and unlike white which we've seen everywhere for years now, you never tire of it ~ in fact it grows on you.
I donât bother trying to read IKEA instructions anymore. I just search the project on CZcams and watch the video. I swear it has helped my husband and I from so many arguments and a lot of frustration. Your cottage is looking so beautiful.
Looking great guys, keep up the good work. Canât wait to see the final kitchen reveal.
5:21 with bruce just watching through the window made my whole sunday
Haha awe!! I went back and watched that just now⊠soooo sweet đ
OMG!!!! đČ I can't believe you bruised ALL of the bananas like that đŹ
I had the same reaction, LOL
No bananas were bruised in the making of this video!
Absolutely beautiful work! The kitchen looks amazing! I really love how different but loving all your relationships on the videos are, really love you too, you are great people and very funny and have a great sense of humor! So happy and proud that I found you all on you tube, i feel you are family to me as well! Stay safe and well and happy! See you on the next one!đđâ€đ
I LOVE that you have put some color in with the cabinets! With all the white and wood tones, this is a great way to add a pop.
Great color! And IKEA kitchen cabinets rock (although there IS a learning curve - we had some of those moments too)! We redid our older rustic cabin kitchen a few years ago. Best decision ever - well, maybe second to having a washer/dryer there for the first time!
Which Breville do you all have? Yummm latte looked delish! Love the new kitchen and the colors!
But Iâm glad to see you guys are staying strong!
Keep on building Keep on building!!!
I so wish I'd been there to help you with the installation. I am weird, I love assembling IKEA items but I have to be doing it alone or it all goes wrong. Sometimes one head is better than 4. Instead I am in Ireland staying with my family for the first time in 3 years, being thoroughly spoilt as today is my birthday and we had a lovely BBQ in my brothers stunning garden overlooking the river watching the boats sail up and down in 27°C heat which is most unusual for Ireland. A perfect birthday, love them to bits.
This is why I still have a 70's kitchen... OMG LOLOLOL
Smart move Beth!!
Yay my fav time of the week woot woot let's go~
Thanks so much for being part of our community! Have a great week! đ€
@@eamonandbec thank you guys! Cheers from Boston :)
I love bob â€ïž I just love when he comes on and just how chirpy he is always. Heâd be the favourite oldie in a nursing home đ€Ł by that I mean he is just such a loveable dude đ much love from Oz
Happy to see Bob moving around so well after his knee ops đ Wishing you further good attitude and smiles for finishing your kitchen đ
