  • Tony Blair led Labour to general election victory on 2 May 1997. Mr Blair's first Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) took place on 21 May 1997. It was also the first time that PMQs was held in a new format, with the two 15-minute sessions held on a Tuesday and Thursday replaced by a single 30 minute session on a Wednesday.

    PMQs was much quieter in those days. Not so much time wasted.

    No notes or papers, impressive. However, interesting to note that Blair's voice was audibly posher at this stage. He obviously got told to try and appear more 'ordinary'.
