    The pattern is easy to follow.. or so I thought at first. From jumping back and forth between the written pattern and video, I’m now able to get it down. I can’t wait to see the finished poncho using Mandala baby (diagon alley as color of choice).

    I am definitely making myself a poncho and it will be using a large ball of yarn 🧶.
    I made ponchos for my son so he could be warm without putting
    layers of clothing as he didn’t like the feel of that. There were no patterns as I just invented the idea.
    In those days we had no CZcams let alone Google.
    He will be 50 next February. I created it from seeing an Afghan and worked out how to not begin as you would the centre of the Afghan. It was a great success with women commenting on what a great idea 💡 it was. Four years later I made a few but in pinks.
    If only I wasn’t raised in a city where I would have possibly sold to children wear stores and established markets. Life is full of if’s aren’t they?
    I was a very young mum and made all my sons clothes knitted crocheted and sewn.

    • @SirinsCrochet
      @SirinsCrochet  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes, life is full of if's 😊What a lovely story, thanks for sharing with me. My mum made us beautiful knitted stuff when I was young. I remember one of them. I was in middle school and it was my favorite blouse. It was orange lacy blouse with short sleeves. I wish I can make myself one now 🙈Your sons could have same stories like me ❤❤

You are a great teacher and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. The yarn for this one has been discontinued, but managed to find enough of it to make two different color ponchos at Etsy. Thank you for the tutorial. This pattern is working up so nicely. You must be taller than h thought, Sirin. I'm 5'7" and starting on my 3rd cake of Mandala on the poncho and it is almost long enough. Only time will tell how long using half of this cake will make my poncho.. I might use the whole cake so my arms will be covered when I want to wear it with the flat edges in front, back, and sides... I like to switch the way í wear ponchos sometimes.

      methat lovescats. Sorry to hear you think it is hard and not for beginner. I am teaching my Granddaughter age 14 to do this poncho. After you have completed 1st row of doing 88 chains. 2nd row when you are doing it after Sirin says count 21 stitches you are making 1 of the 4 points here put a stitch marker in the next stitch. Do this after you do your 21 stitches. Stitch 22 put marker. This has made it easier for my Granddaughter. It is the easiest and nicest poncho I have done. I have made 6 for all my family for Christmas presents. Hope this helps you.

    Mine is almost done, but I am on ball #4 and it is not enough yarn! Uh-oh, I just realized I bought the right yarn but the smaller 328 yard balls & you said 590 yard balls. EDIT: I finished the poncho & needed one more 328 yard ball, so 5 balls total. I made mine a little bit bigger (added 8 more chains at the beginning) & did 39 rows. It is 25 inches long measuring at the V.
